I legit was within a few pushes of giving birth on the toilet after SO MANY tries in the tub. The birth center I went to had this makeshift toilet thing I could sit on they could catch the baby under and it literally saved my labor! Was a game changer! I'd as for that thing over and over again.

Totally agree!!! After I realized that my OB wasn’t totally aligned with my birthing wishes, I had to look into switching providers. 😬 Founds an amazing hospital with midwifes and have SO MUCH peace about giving birth because I completely trust that they are on my side! 😌 I’m 40 weeks and 6 days now 😅 And My midwife is letting me wait till 42 weeks no problem!

The only way for me to feel safe was to have an unassisted birth at home. I am also obsessed with pregnancy and labor so i did SO much research going into it. My first birth was a great learning experience! My second was so awesome, I slept through most of it just like I planned and baby was out with no tears or lasting pain in about 45 minutes!! I think this is possible for every healthy willing woman. PS bone broth is great leading up to labor and for post partum it has all the nutrients to help make your body flexible and strong, help healing and nourish baby! I have never been hungry during labor but hot tea, broth and toast has been the best after labor.

You sound like me. I'm terrified of birthing in a hospital, but my home isn't suitable for a home birth (200sqft camper)... 31 weeks with my first and I haven't even let my OB examen me.

This is very difficult when you live in a country where the general rules ignore mothers' wishes and only very expensive clinics in the capital even know what a birth plan is... But I think it's worth knowing about these things even in those places and to try and fight for your right to respect while giving birth wherever you live.

I gave birth so fast, I didn't have a chance to give them my birth plan, while I was doing skin to skin the nurse was like oh do you have a birth plan? I was like?? I like that they still care even after I delivered my baby.

River Valley Birth Center frim St Peter, Mn. Gave me two deliveries/births that were everything i could have dreamed of. Never had to fight for anything. That really is the most amazing advice for mothers! Find a provider who you dont have to fight for your wishe, at all. Im the same way about birth, as soon as i had my first i just dove headfirst..and still havent fallen out of love with it.

I just had my second scheduled c section this past weekend and thankfully my OB was very prominent in my wishes during the operating room he had to get on his staff a couple times and I heard the frustration in his voice which reassured me as I’m laying there helpless on a table. Yes Mamas make sure you find a provider you align with!

Hey Shayla, Concerning bone broth, I LOVE Lonolife bone broth packets. The hospital will likely be able to provide hot water, or you could bring a thermos of hot water, and mix in a packet! They are my favorite on the go broth 😀

I feel like these type of questions are always great to ask wether or not you are having a cesarean / medicated or un-medicated birth. It can make people feel at ease because they do know their options and what can happen if anything needs to be checked.

Thank you so much for making this video! You totally crack me up and made me feel more comfortable about labor and birth! I was super nervous about talking to my doctor about a water birth because I thought they would tell me “no”. but now I’m confident in asking all the right questions and making sure I align with the right provider. I’ve had the worst experience with my provider so far, so I’m thinking I might need to change my provider at this point. But after watching this video it makes me think it’ll be worth it!

Hey Shayla! Would you ever consider doing a video or podcast episode on delayed vaccines?? I’m in my first trimester scrambling for all the information I can take in about everything, and there really isn’t a whole lot out there that I’ve found about it. Mostly there is just stuff on why you should get your baby vaccinated… anyway would just love to hear your thoughts on that, and maybe you have some people around you who know stuff about that too!

Thank you so much for this video. I had a water birth at home 6 months ago and it was an absolute dream. But in the future if my body or my baby does have risk factors that suggest it would be better to deliver at a hospital, these are things I need to ask. I'm the mama who wants to know almost everything but also wants to be left alone in my own zone to birth. So naturally I am worried about butting heads with an in hospital care team because I have the preconceived notion that they are there to just tell you what to do. This really helped me reframe that and get a good perspective about how to find a care team that will support me in the future whenever baby #2 is on the way.

You said you were from MN and so am I!!! Can you give some recommendations for hospitals/birth centers/midwives/OB you liked? I am not pregnant yet but I don’t know who to go to who will support…more holistic remedies and who will ACTUALLY listen to me. So I want to find someone before I’m pregnant so I’m not stressing and worrying while baby is inside.

Yes! They needed to monitor his heart rate, but they were so understanding that I wanted another natural birth and to labor on my own. My first, I labored at home and arrived fully dilated, then pushed for two hours. With this birth, they broke my water due to concerns over this heart rate, then hooked me up, set up the labor tub, and left me alone with my husband until I was ready to push. It was great! (And, I only pushed for 15 minutes!!) Labor tubs are AWESOME.

I gave birth to my first child almost 3 weeks ago. I had an amazing experience at a birthing center attached to my local hospital. The same nurse midwives that deliver in the labor and delivery ward take turns being on call for the birthing center. Labor began at 3:00am and I was able to labor at home for most of the duration. We checked into the birthing center at 12:00pm and I was 7cm dilated. I decided to use the birthing tub nitrous oxide because of bad back labor. By a little after 2pm I was checked again and I was at 9cm dilated. By 3:30pm I began pushing (for me this was the worst part of labor because baby’s hand was wedged next to her face) and my baby Emilia was born at 4:30pm. I was able to give birth in the tub, yay! I did tear a little but I have been healing well! Overall it was a great experience. We (my husband and I) followed the Bradley Method approach to childbirth, I am so thankful for how everything turned out!

I had so much bone broth post partum and it was delicious! Do NOT get sodium free. It is tastes like licking an old chicken bone that's been sitting, dried out in the sun for weeks. No good. They sell the good stuff at Costco

When you see the mamas that die or the babies that die usually it is the more natural ppl or fighting the doc, but not always. but we more see babies die bc moms do not want change "the plan". Refused section. baby dies. recently a 41 weeker come in and baby was stillborn an hour or so before they came to the hospital laboring with doula at home arrived at 10cm hours after doc said to come to hospital. Coded baby 45 minutes before it was called as nothing could be done. AT THE END of the day please have the "birth plan" to have a live baby, not just your ideal experience.

Oh, I think another thing to ask your provider/midwife about is massaging the cervix when it comes time to push. I didn't even know that was a thing until my husband told me that the midwife was doing that the whole time I was pushing and perhaps that's why I didn't tear.
@Christina-xc7on
@Christina-xc7on 2 жыл бұрын
The cervix or the perineum? Because the perineum is what tears. The cervix is inside.
