Apprently the plastic guide rod is considered to be more reliable than the steel rod as it can flex slightly and is also self lubricating to some degree

I would add a caveat for people with really big hands. I have to use the factory mag catch in lieu of the extended catch on my pistols. I had a couple that came with the extended catch and found that I would generally over-depress it and trap mags, especially on Compact-framed guns. The good news is that it's pretty quick and easy to swap them back to standard.

You know what, I go a little farther, but it looks like you and I run a pretty similar gun. I use VZ grips. Wilson Combat 16lb mainspring (D equivalent), Wilson extended checkered mag button (the circular one though), aluminum lanyard plug/msh, Wilson square notch rear sight (black), Beretta factory G conversion, Wilson steel guide rod. I do use the standard plastic coated trigger. I really like it, actually. Also, fun fact. It's steel, but plastic coated. A magnet will stick to it, in my experience. At some point I'm gonna send mine off to WC for checkering, fiber optic rod front sight (green), mag well beveling, and a carry bevel job.
@derekpierce18945 жыл бұрын
I did very similar upgrades to my m9a1. I’m a big fan of the lanyard plug and the polymer coated trigger. I used the Wilson short reach for a little while and wasn’t impressed with the wiggle it had. The polymer trigger just felt better. I dropped my mainspring down to a 12lb hammer spring and even played with an Ernest Langdon polished 11lb hammer spring for a while before it started giving me light strikes.

I have an 92FS I bought in the 1990s that is super broke in so to speak. All I ever did besides changeing recoil spring every few years was VZ grips and 14 pound main spring. I decided last year to retire it and now shoot CZ 75.

Btw the factory trigger is steel, it just has some sort of coating to it. If you don't believe me check for yourself, it's magnetic.

I put the LOK grips in mine, added the D spring, added the extended mag release... and unfortunately had to break down and buy a sight pusher to move the rear sight a few mm from how it was sent from the factory. It may be snake oil, but I also added a Wilson Combat “buffer” plate that I feel like it keeps the slide from beating the frame. Good addition for roughly $8.00. Think I will follow suit and black out the rear sights for the same reasons you discussed. Believe it or not, I CC this one (M9A1) in a JM custom kydex. I love this Beretta. And I did install the G conversion (decocker)
@DarknessNation5 жыл бұрын
try sanding down your wilson combat buffer a little.... it will still protect the frame but create less of that rubber feeling at the end of the shot. And yes I had to do the same thing as you did and invested in a sight pusher.

My Beretta is all metal to begin with except the plastic grips. The rear sight had a 3/4 single dot. Guide rod and trigger are metal. How do you measure the recoil springs strength? When did Beretta start using plastic? Sucks that users have to end up having to swap out this and that.

For my 92FS, I replaced my polymer-coated trigger with all steel, replaced the trigger return spring with a WC replacement, replaced the guide rod with steel, replaced the main/hammer spring with the factory “D” spring, the polymer lanyard/spring cap with steel and the chintzy plastic grips with factory aluminum grips. Nice video on one of the two best semi-automatics on the planet (I carry the other...the CZ 75D PCR, similarly tricked out). Be safe. Make a difference. Vote for Joe Biden in November.

toolman5741 IMHO, I don’t like mounted tack lights. I FBI carry a Surefire Steletto...gives me 360 degree discretionary coverage without giving the bad guy something to aim at.
