The "blonde chick" is Suzy Rotollo (a different name in the film) she's the girl on the cover of his 2nd LP "A Freewheelin' Bob Dylan." The guy pointing the guitar is Johnny Cash a close Dylan friend. Joan Baez was a folk singer, together there songs were the heart and soul of the Civil Rights Movement and the Anti-Vietnam War Movement. They played together at the 1963 Martin Luther King March on Washington. They were also in love. Check out the Martin Scorsese documentary on Dylan called "No Direction Home" if want to learn about Dylans early years. Dylan now 83 is currently on tour for his latest LP "Rough and Rowdy Ways" Timothee saw Dylan live last year in Brooklyn NY. In the early 1960's Greenwich Village NYC was the Mecca of music especially folk.

Also I heard that Suze Rotolo (In film Sylvie Russo) had parents that were big into social justice stuff, which I think influenced Bob's early social justice songs. In the film he's writing Blowing in the wind on a napkin, maybe they were on a date and he started to think about injustice.

Cole & Noah know quite alot about Dylan's musical early years & history. I myself do not, but that's one of the biggest reasons I'm looking forward to this biopic! I did not know the blonde chick "suzy rotollo" was her name or that she's on the cover of freewheelin' though.

I thought he had a captivating presence in Dune Part Two for sure and his voice sounds great here. I think he’ll be fine!

Its hard to imagine today but Bob going electric was a huge deal and a massive controversy. Folk was like the alternate or punk or the early 60s and people took it incredibly seriously, it was seen as the answer to all the vapid rock and pop of the day as well as a counter culture movement (the precursor to hippies) and Bob Dylan was seen as the figurehead of the whole movement. When he went electric, despite making some of the greatest music ever made, audiences felt like it was a huge betrayal and sell-out.

Yeah that's what Cole was saying, very interesting to see this. Looking forward to seeing how they portray it in the movie

They don't know the first thing about Dylan and apparently didn't do any preparation for this, so unless you want to hear 3 guys ask questions that none can answer don't waste your time.

I feel like the story is solid, it's not a biopic that tries to make dramatic "arc" out of someone's whole life (which is a weird thing anyway) but is focused on a limited time period where a clear sequence of events happened, which involve not just one dude but a bunch of people and a symbolically great moment of popular culture. Chalamet is also a solid actor - usually I think he's either good or great (great for me in The King, Call me by your name, Beautiful boy, maybe Dune). I don't think he'll be great in this role, but I don't think he'll be awful either and they seem to have gotten the singing parts down pretty well, and it's nice that they're actually using the actor singing instead of someone else.

I agree about Chalamet very much! I personally think he's a great actor, one of the next "generational ones". I've loved everything he's been in so far. He's got the accent down pact for this it seems like as well.

He sings live in this to make it more authentic he plays guitar harmonica & piano while being lead actor & a producer So I think he certainly is doing his best on the story anxious to see the movie

Guys do ur research u know absolutely nothing it’s not a BioPic it’s a specific time in American Music & Bob Dylan’s life His 1st GF Suze Rotolo strawberry blonde(on Album Cover) He had a 5 yr relationship w/Joan. Baez ( she says he was the love of her life) they influenced each other He skyrocketed to fame (& hated it) by past everyone he became the voice of the generation world wide Folk was the music then he changed to electric & was vilified & they rioted & how he dealt with it the Newport Folk Festival (huge) Dylan changed music forever he received the Nobel Prize (only musician)he was a poet really this should be great watch some interviews of him tho he hated journalists he is an unique & inspiring person. He even deliberately made ll bad songs lol Pete Seeger took him in & mentored him Chalamet will get nominated for this

Well my friend, like we said before, we're interested in his music (not necessarily his private life), although I myself am. But Cole & Noah & myself know quite a bit about his music, but that's why we're pretty interested in this biopic as it's going to show how a lot of his music was made & his private life as well.

To answer your question, the first song featured in the trailer is "Girl from the North Country." There's a famous clip of Dylan in a concert, and some people in the audience are yelling at him for going electric, and he says to the audience, "Will you please try and control yourselves."

What makes me laugh is how most of the people reviewing this trailer don’t know anything about Dylan. The main criticism of the first film cut was too much Suze and Dylan. This trailer shows more expansion in Dylan being Dylan especially with Joan Baez as I think their relationship was more intense. Better direction to go in.

Dylan was much more in love with Suze than he was with Joan Baez.

Simply false my friend, but even if it were true, that's exactly what watching a biopic is for... to learn! However, us 3 do know quite alot about Dylan's music. Not so much his personal life.

This isn’t even the best Dylan film (which for me is I’m Not There). The best bio pic by far is Love and Mercy (about Brian Wilson) starring Paul Dano and John Cusack as Wilson.

You haven’t seen full movie & already making assumptions about it, ACU seems more traditional biopic. im not there is completely different stylistically, both can be equally great, and attract two different types of audiences. the fact Timothée sings, plays guitar, harmonica & piano in ACU elevates it far more than I’m Not There. if you’re not interested, just don’t watch it. maybe let people enjoy things though
