Green River Full Proof. In-Sane! Right around $50 and right there with any Bookers or ECFP batches. Unfortunately they don't sell it in my state but when I travel I load up on these. Honorary mention would be the Evan Williams Single Barrels which are between $35-$40. They are appearing all around the country after being pulled for years and are just tremendous. Heaven Hill makes some great shelf stable bottles but this the best of them all. Grab it next time you see it

Great suggestions! I love green river single barrels, but those are more than $50. I’ll have to go buy a full proof to see how it compares. Heard great things. I love heaven hill products too, as ECBPs are some of my go tos. Fits my profile perfectly . Cheers 🥃

I agree, I attended a Green River tasting on Friday. It was on sale for $46 and grabbed one of the few bottles remaining. Really good value.

Thanks for doing this type of video, very helpful to those starting out into whiskies. Congratulations on being featured in the Brewzle video, too!

It was a blast hunting with Brewzle. Thanks for a feedback, as I was debating doing a more economical $30 whiskey tier video. I agree that it’s great to put out content for beginners, as it can be intimidating knowing where to start when walking into a liquor store. Cheers 🥃

. I was coincidentally going to suggest/ask if you'd do an introductory video just like this one & then last night the YT algorithm brought this video up. Thanks again, cheers!

Rye or bourbon? Had both at the distillery and liked the rye more, but had it again at a friend’s house and not a fan of the rye and the bourbon was better. Wonder if there is batch drift.

My absolute fav under $50 is Buffalo Trace, next is WT101, & 3rd place is Jim Beam 7yr Black. Great flavor profiles in a budget category.
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
All great bottles! Probably all would be in the best under $30 category if I make that video. They didn’t make the list as I felt I couldn’t include multiple bottles from the same distillery as I already had ER10 and Rare Breed on the list. Cheers 🥃

Maker's Cask Strength I think holds up also in the whated category too
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
I’ve never had it, so I’ll need to get a pour at the bar next time I go. I wasn’t a fan of the regular or 101 proof, so I stopped trying others, but down to give it another shot. The makers heart wood this year was great!

1792 Single Barrel/Full Proof/Sweet Wheat - Elmer T - Old Forester 1920 (right on the line) - Weller 12/107 - Barrel Foundation - Old Forester Single Barrel 100 proof - Rare Breed - Knob 9 - all come to mind

...yes Eagle Rare and most of the Bardstown Origins
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
Great list! Some of those come in slightly over $50 in my area, but love all those bottles. Also, some are from the same distillery, and I felt I couldn’t include multiple bottles from the same distillery, but maybe I should have thrown in more. I was hesitant to include W12/107 because the secondary is way above $50, but would be 100% on the list for MSRP. I think I would include Stagg over those if I went that route. Cheers 🥃

For eagle rare in the wild at a store if you get lucky it’s 40$ but it’s about as hard to find as the higher price buffalo trace
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
Hard bottle to find at msrp. Every where is different, they normally sit in the stores in dc for $50-ish. But move fast at the ABC stores when they drop at msrp.

Woodford Double Oaked, Russell's 10 year and Pikesville 10 year Rye.
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
Woodford is now over $50 in my area along with 1910. Was trying to find a good double oak to include but all were over $50. Might make another video for $60, as that pulls in many other great bottles. I haven’t owned a pikesville in a while, might need to grab a new one to remember how it taste, but I remember liking it when I first started getting into whiskey. I’m in love with the lasted Russel 10 batch LL/ME, but felt hesitant to include given the batch variance in the past couple years.

Green River Full Proof is around $45 near me. Still Austin's regular bourbon is around $37. I like their regular bourbon more than their Cask Strength, so that's my pick.
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
Great options! I like the still Austin picks, but can’t remember if those were more than $50. I love the green river sibs, but those are over $50. I’ll have to give the full proof a try given how much I like the single barrel version. I’ve also heard good things about the green river rye, but haven’t had that either

My favorite store is esquire liquors in oxon hill. Best prices in the area, and various ways to get allocated bottles

Total Wine in Laurel has a big selection and helpful bourbon staff. Yeah, it's a superstore, but check them out.

I feel like a lot of people overhype Rare breed just because of the name, maybe it just isn't my flavor profile.
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
Everyone has different palates. But everyone does talk about, maybe too much. Not an LE level bottle, But it’s hard to beat for the price.
@DwithBoost15 күн бұрын
I dont understand the price differences across the country. MSRP is set to $50 for the Four Roses Single and you can get it for $33?!?! Thats just nuts and quite frankly unfair haha I love that bottle and I'd have it on my shelf 24/7 at $33 a bottle
@BourbonRetriever14 күн бұрын
The store got a good volume deal on the bottle and passed on the cost savings. It’s back up to $37 now, but still a great deal at that price. The varied distribution and pricing makes it frustrating, but when you find a local store that does it right, love to support them. Happy Holidays!
@DwithBoost14 күн бұрын
Very nice! It's a state by state thing too. You can't charge over MSRP in Ohio so you get all the allocated stuff at MSRP too. Harder to get stuff but avoid the huge markups in states like Kentucky. Not sure if you cam sell below the state minimum in Ohio or not. Anyway, I enjoy your content! Cheers!

I think eht smb beats out ER10 in my humble opinion, but otherwise great list!
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
Good bottle, but I just prefer the oak on the ER10 over the honey of the EHT. But still a great bottle, just felt I couldn’t include multiple bottles form buffalo trace without getting to much hate

your pricing is out of whack especially secondary pricing
@BourbonRetriever2 ай бұрын
What is it in your area? I feel like pricing varies by location too. Sorry to hear the pricing might not be the same
@0529mpbАй бұрын
I have never spent more than $40 for a standard Eagle Rare. The secondary groups pretty much standardize Eagle Rare at $50. Rip off online and brick/mortar stores are not the secondary market. The secondary market is an illegal gray market where supply and demand set the real price. The others are not allocated.
@BourbonRetrieverАй бұрын
@@0529mpb great price on the eagle rare. The only one that might be harder to find is the bardstown because it’s new, but I tried to include non-allocated as much as possible. If secondary is way above $50, then hard to say it’s the best under $50
@0529mpbАй бұрын
@@BourbonRetrieverPeople who don't belong to or even know about secondary groups often think that bourbon museums and online stores are the secondary market. I am getting close to breaking the first 2 rules of Fight Club. So, I'll stop.
