Appreciate the video. I recently picked up a helmet and was looking for ear pro options and I sure as hell wasn't buying a set of comtacs. Luckily I had a set of Peltor rangeguards and picked up the arc rail adapters from peltor. Match made in heaven. Just need to pick up a mic and cable.

yes I do. I use a standard radio mic with a AUX port. Hook a longer aux cable into the mic and your ear pro. You will get radio interference (squeaking), with most ear pro. The Peltor Range Guards are the only budget ones Ive used so far, that block the squeaking.

yeah, they are easier to install on a arc rail than the howard leights are. I have a video on the howard leights. But these do not require cutting metal, because the attachment methods snap on and off easier. Just be careful cutting the cable out of the sleeve and you can always put them back on the head band if you want (and have some tape) 😎

you have to cut the headband to get the wire out, unfortunately. Just cut the area where the wire itself is stored and you can reverse this, if you tape or sewing the wiring back.

@@danielcohen4311 My peltor/3m version is looser than the original headband wire, but it still stays in place. The only fix would be to add thickness to the metal wire. So I followed your advice and bought the Rangeguards. I also have a similar cheapo Chinese helmet and a $20 rail adapter bought on Amazon (not the original Peltor one, like yours). Now that I've pieced everything together, there is a big problem: barely any seal at all. Like, the cups are slightly touching my ears and maybe cut off a couple of decibels, but that's it. I could try twisting the metal clamps a bit with pliers but dunno if that will help. Any thoughts? Does your setup provide enough seal out of the box? Maybe the adapter is at fault but I'm hesitant on buying the original $60 adapter - that's more expensive than the earpro itelf, lol. Also I have Walker's XCELs for the range and they are great but too bulky to use with a helmet. Tried the Razor Slims and they sound shitty compared to anything else. The prefect solution would be to buy some Sordins or Peltor Comtacs but they are sooo expensive :( I serve in the Territorial Defense of Ukraine and so far never seen any combat but still need a decent ear protection just in case I will be sent to the frontline...
@poortac5568
@poortac5568 Жыл бұрын
Do the amazon rail adapters “pop” into two different positions? one away from your head and one sealed against it? If it does and its still not tight enough, you could bend the metal wires of the adapter more inward to give more pressure against your head. Its worth a shot, if they don’t work at all (as is). If that doesmt work, you may have to buy the Peltor brand adapters. Although, if your helmet is too big, that might be the issue. My setup, with the peltor adapters, has sealed tight with my howard leights and the range guards (both with factor and gel cups). They hold tight enough where I dont really even need a chin strap unless Im using nvgs.
@miscellaneous263
@miscellaneous263 Жыл бұрын
@@poortac5568 Maybe this will help other people with the same issue: I solved the problem. Instead of bending the metal clamps, I've just bought another helmet adapter which works well for me. It's also a cheap Chinese $17 ops-core style adapter from Aliexpress, which has a SHITLOAD of clamp force.
@poortac5568
@poortac5568 Жыл бұрын
@@miscellaneous263 so your old adapter was just weaker or not angled in as much?
@miscellaneous263
@miscellaneous263 Жыл бұрын
@@poortac5568 It is just too weak. The new one has a different design (clone of the Ops-core AMP) with two massive springs that provide all that clamp force. And I overall like this design better because it frees up the upper part of the rail so that I can mount something else on it. Like a holder for a ballistic mask, for example.
