I use brands and products, but lately Neewer has been stepping up their game with their products and for the price... they are winning the race.

Neewer are rising very fast alright with quality at the right price. The next few years are going to be very interesting.

Your channel is great! I came from your video about the Neewer follow focus, and stayed for the one take presentational goodness and Irish accent. 😂 Love from Down Under. ❤

Ah thanks a million for watching and for the kind words. I am still surprised people in other English speaking countries understand me :-)

@@kieranhayesphotographySome Aussies do struggle with certain Irish accents but I grew up watching a lot of stuff from the "art" channels, so in all sorts of languages and accents and when I was a late teenager I discovered Tommy Tiernan and watched as much of him as I could get my hands on haha.

@daysandwords Ah, good old Tommy Tiernan, he was secretly preparing the world for my accent 😂😂😂. Really nice guy and a great character.

Great video, Kieran. If you are look for vide ideas, I would love to see you working your shoulder rig in practice. In particular, I am curious how easy it is to use the follow focus on a shoulder rig and what focal length you can use before it shakes just too much. I am sure there are other practical considerations I have no idea about. Keep the great videos coming. Thanks again

Hi Andrew, thanks a lot for watching and for the feedback. I have loads of videos I would like to do on my to do list, the slight issue with that one is I would ideally need someone else to film me when I am using the rig. But to give you a little tip on what makes it a lot easier to pull focus while using the rig is to use a palm rest for the follow focus unit I show that in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5aWn6GAnc57r7M at about 5minutes and 18 seconds into it. The one in the video is the Neewer PG010 it's a great little gadget to have and works wonders once you get used to it. I also have an arca swiss mount on the base of my shoulder rig normally which I can then pop on a tripod super quickly so pulling focus with a longer lenses isn't an issue then. I probably should have included those bits in the video but it was already getting way too long so i thought I would leave them out and keep it as short as possible. Regarding the max focal length I can use it at without a tripod I find 50mm is fine with the palm rest but I normally shoot around 35mm on the rig as it's just a lot easier. If I am shooting real estate or doing house tours I would use the 14-30 F4 on a gimbal then and my focus is set as you generally want a large depth of field. It depends on the house and what the client wants though. The larger and smaller gears for the follow focus I mention in the video above also really help, as it helps you finesse the focus and can also reduce leverage and resistance on the follow focus to of course which can cause the camera to move while turning the follow focus. I hope that helped explain it a small bit better.

@@kieranhayesphotography Kieran, This info is gold. Thank you. A different idea instead for a video is have 2 or 3 of your KZbin followers who you respect having a chat, may be from different parts of the world, probably remotely, about life as a videographer, the challengers you have at different shoots, how you all deal with it. The good, the bad and the ugly. The things that get us out of bed and give us a high. There’s nothing like a bit of authentic sharing about this incredible, but at times challenging, journey we are all on. It’s only a suggestion. Feel free to let it through to the keeper and continue shooting the videos you are doing.

Hi Andrew, that's a great idea thank you. I already have a list I just checked it and there are 83 video topics on it already, well 84 now :-). I don't know how I am going to get time to record all of them :-) KZbin needs to start paying me more lol.

I'll like to see someone add a camera on it instead of talking. I would also like to see one with a 16mm film camera like a Bolex and not one of those digital DSLR... Show and tell just not tell.

Hey, good point. This video was really a small part of my Nikon Z8 video rig review where I build up the rig itself. I don't have a film camera so wouldn't be able to do that but hey maybe that's an opening for you to create one and pop it up then. Anyway enjoy your week and keep filming.
