Best video settings for the Canon 2000D / Rebel T7 camerawize video
One thing I always look at when I am shooting my videos with my Canon 2000D or Rebel T7 is white balance. If you are shooting in a single location you might be happy just to leave it on auto and the auto white balance on this camera is very good and there is no reason really to want to change it but if you are shooting in different locations where the lighting might be slightly different and the color contrast and the color tones might be slightly different, then it is recommended really to set the white balance at every location. The option to change your custom white balance is in menus and if you go to the SHOOTING TAB 3 then above picture style you can click on that and get the option to change white balance it is not very difficult. I first watched this video to know more about cameras but didn't own one, I watched again while looking for a camera to buy and now in 2023 I'm watching it just to learn how to change the aperture in video mode as I got a 50mm f1.8 and it only recorded by default at f 5.6 and I thought that's it not until I remembered your guidance, Thank you so much for the tutorial... May you be blessed and have the strength to continue making this videos

Great video! Very informative, with an exception for that 24 frames myth. That myth needs to die immediately. In film its an adequate framerate with a minimum drop off in quality, but as soon as you enter interactive forms of media with higher frame rates and higher hertz displays there is a huge improvement in smoothness that the viewer can see and feel. Hence why many high-end phones are now including 95-120hz displays and many gaming monitors shoot for 240hz displays.

I wanted to vlog and only when I bought it I figured out that it’s not the best for video...I have a hard time focusing it. I will definitely follow your instructions. But do you think that if I try a different lens it gets easier to focus? Thank you!
@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 3 жыл бұрын
If you can, it would be good to get a prime lens, as they tend to be sharper and particularly for video. However, that won't affect the action of focussing. If you are looking to produce something like my videos, you need to put the camera on manual - in the video menu, have the frame rate at 1080 25 or 30 fps. The Shutter speed should then be 1/60th sec. ISO should be 800 or 1600 at the most, and aperture should be around f8 - f11. It is the aperture which will ensure that you appear to be in focus, even if you move around slightly. If you can't get the f8 or f11 with these settings, you need more light.

@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, the most obvious solution to this problem is that you have set the camera onto video snapshot. this option allows you to shoot multiple videos and stitch them together in the camera. However, it does limit you to 2,4 or 8 second clips. Move the mode dial around to the video option, then in the menu, go to the second icon from the left and at the bottom of that submenu you will find video snapshot. make sure it is disabled. If not it will over ride anything else you ask the camera to do for videos. Good luck!

hello, yes you can use the back focus button. This is the button top right on the back of the camera which has the minus magnifying glass. you will need to be in Video mode and then go to shooting menu 1 and down to Shutter/AE lock button. choose AE lock/AF and then you can use this button to focus instead of the shutter button.

If you are in modes M, Av, Tv or P then you can go to the crosskeys on the back of the camera and choose the one at the 9 o'clock position. This is the Drive/self-timer mode and you can choose continuous shooting from there. Alternatively, you can press the Q button and choose the option, bottom left (which might read ONE SHOT) and change the option there. In the other modes, press the Q button and this will reveal the options open to you. You will see the option to change from single shot to continuous mode there.

I was considering buying the T7i over the T7 mainly due to the lack of an external microphone jack. When I searched for "T7i", I noticed some of the camera bodies had the red "Rebel T7i" logo, and some had the "800D" logo. There also seems to be a difference in the price between the 2 cameras, although I assumed they were the same (?). Do you have any idea what the difference is between the 800D and T7i, and why such a discrepancy (hundreds of dollars in some cases) in the price?
@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, yes Canon have an annoying habit of giving their cameras different names in different parts of the world, which can lead to confusion. The Canon T7i is also known as the 800D. they are both exactly the same camera. The Rebel T7 for example is also called the EOS 2000D and the Rebel T6 is called the EOS 1300D. The Rebel name is for the US market, the EOS name tends to be for the rest of the world.

Hello sir when I take photo on portraits mode the flash always on so can I control it
@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 4 жыл бұрын
The portrait mode tries to reduce the depth of field, so that the subject's face stands out against the background. To achieve this the camera will increase the shutter speed, widen the aperture, or increase the ISO. Obviously, you want to control the ISO to keep the image quality, so you shouldn't really go above 1,600, or 3,200 at most. If you have the kit lens, then the maximum aperture you have will be f3.5, which isn't a very wide aperture. If you are shooting in poor light, then the shutter speed can't get fast enough and so the flash the pop up, to help the camera increase the shutter speed. So, if you want to avoid the flash, you need to see if you can increase the ambient light, so that the camera can speed up the shutter speed without having to use the flash. Alternatively, use a different setting. See what the portrait settings are, and then try to shoot on sport mode - which also has a very fast shutter speed, but doesn't use flash, or shoot on P mode and turn the shutter speed up yourself. Practice is the key, I am afraid...

What about the Write to SD card speed? I was reading where the Write to SD card for the Sony A7R ii is 8 seconds. How does the 2000D write in Video mode?
@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I am sorry I don't really recognise the question, but in video mode, there are two limits - time and file size. Maximum time is 29 minutes, maximum file size is 4 GB. If you shoot at lowest quality you can shoot for 29 minutes. If you at the best quality you get 11 minutes. The write speed seems to be pretty instantaneous.
@jmoss99
@jmoss99 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I understand that there is the 29 minutes due to tax reasons. In photo mode where speed of the write to the SD card is important as it delays your ability to take another photo it seems to be a function of the SD memory speed itself. I have this camera and found that using a faster SD card shortened the time it takes to write and therefore allowed me to take the next photo sooner. As far as the 4 GB limit, I think if you are using one of the memory types XC maybe, that you can write 4 GB and keep going at the card will just start a new 4 GB segment. I can tell you that write speed to the SD, for photos, is not instantaneous. Try it out.

if you want to shoot movies, the important thing to remember about this camera is that it does not have a microphone socket, so you will be relying on the internal microphone. It isn't bad, but if you want to have a mic, you will need to record sound on an external recored. your phone would be ok..

Hello…I took your course on Udemy for this camera a year or so ago, actuallu probably 2 years ago by now. Great videos on the camera, altho none of the resources were usable bc there’s been no update on the courses.

How do I transfer the videos from the camera to my computer/phone?
@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, there are two easy ways to do it. The first is to USB lead that you should have got with your camera and attach it to the socket on the side of your camera and the other end - the USB end - to your computer. then you will be able to open the folder on your camera and drag the pictures over. Alternatively, take the memory card out of the camera and use a card reader that is attached ( or built in) to your computer. Just make sure the camera is switched off when you take the card out.

@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 6 жыл бұрын
Hello, you cannot connect your Boya Mic directly to this camera. It does not have an external Mic socket. Either use the camera's internal Microphone, or use an external recording device. For example you can get apps on many phones that will let you record and your Boya will fit most mobile phones.

have you used the mic before? do you know that it works? if it has battery, has it been put in the right way round? I do not have a 200d, but test the camera to see if it will record sound on the internal microphone. Then if you know that the mic works and the camera can record, check the settings when it is on record.

Hello. I need help. What is difference between lens 18-55 mm DC III and 18-55 mm IS II ???
@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, they are both versions of the standard 18-55mm kit lens available for canon DSLR cameras. The IS version was the kit lens up to the 2000D/T7 cameras, and the DC lens is the new one, available for the 4000D, for example. The main differences are that the newer lens is lighter and doesn't have image stabilisation. In terms of image quality, I don't think there is much difference as the internal build is very similar. I have both and I can't tell the difference, TBH.

take a look at this page hk.canon/en/support/8202595100 Canon produce software called Canon Utility which allows you to shoot video and download video with your mobile device. However the device needs to be physically connected to the device, via the USB connection. You will need to download the software and make sure the wifi setting on the camera is switched off.

When I searched about the features of Canon 2000d, I found that there is no voice recording feature in this camera. What does that mean? does it mean that videos are recorded without sound?!
@NikonD5200Channel
@NikonD5200Channel 5 жыл бұрын
no, it means that there is no socket for an external microphone. the camera does have an internal microphone, which is ok if the source is close to the camera, but if you want better sound, you would need an external sound recorder and then put the two together in editing.

@@NikonD5200Channel I would like to buy this camera but I don't know if the absence of the external mic would be a problem! I mean can I relay only on the internal mic to get good videos? and is canon 4000d has the same feature that there is only an internal mic in it? Someone said about these two cameras that sound is recorded when taking videos but can be only heard when transferring the video to other device, phone, laptop,... but it can't be heard in the camera itself, is it true? Thank You

if you want to mainly shoot videos with your camera and record the sound into the video at the same time, it might be better to get a different camera. for example the Canon EOS Rebel T6i / EOS 750D
