The Battery
By fully charging and then draining your battery as you use it, use extend the life of the battery. If you look at the battery then you see that there are electrical connectors on one end and there is a Canon logo on the battery, so to put the battery in properly, you have the connectors facing the camera and the logo facing you and it will go in. Like most modern batteries it will only go in one way so if it doesn't go in very easily then the chances are you have got it in the wrong way around.
The Memory card
The second thing to do is to put in your memory card. It really is essential to have somewhere where you can keep these pictures and videos permanently and safely and that usually means an external hard drive. Like the battery, the card has electrical conductors and it has the logo on the front and if you put it this way so that the logo faces you and it goes into the little slot above the battery then you can just slide it in.
The Menus
When you want to go into the menus in the camera it is very important to make sure that you are on Manual Mode and the reason for that is that when you press menu button, you get all the menu tabs going across the top. If you were on a different semi-automatic or a completely automatic option then when you press the menu options you don't get all the tabs going across the top.
Format your Memory Card
If you have a new card or a card that you have taken from a previous camera, it is really important to format it so that the card and the camera will work together. The way you do that is by pressing menu button and then go to SETUP TAB 1 and here you can see the option to format the card.
The Dioptric Adjuster camerawize
If you don't have 20/20 vision or if you wear glasses then even though the autofocus on the camera gets the picture absolutely sharp, when you are looking through the viewfinder it may look out-of-focus.
The Monitor Brightness
If you find the brightness of the LCD monitor either too bright or too dark then you can change that by going to SETUP TAB 2. Click on LCD brightness and choose to either make it brighter or darker.
The Auto Off Setting
There is nothing more irritating than the camera switching itself off when you are still trying to compose a picture. Whilst it helps to save the battery life it can interrupt your train of thought and slow you down. You can change the length of time it takes for the camera to turn off by going to SETUP TAB 1 and choosing AUTO POWER OFF.
The ISO Setting
The ISO setting manages the sensitivity of your sensor to the light coming into the camera. The Canon T7 will be on auto ISO setting to begin with which is very convenient in most cases. It is easy to control the ISO by using the Cross Keys. Press the top one labeled ISO and the ISO options will appear on the LCD screen.
File Size and Compression
The next thing to consider is the file size and compression ratio the Canon 2000D will shoot a 24 megapixel file and that is a very high quality image.

Hello, Yes it has a built in microphone, but it does not have an external microphone socket. The camera can record sound when you are recording the video, and you have th options of automatic recording or setting the recording options manually.

I think your advice to charge up the battery fully is more suitable for older NiCd batteries. The newer Lithium batteries kind of fixed that. Nice video though.

Hi, I don't think that, if you are shooting stills, you need anything above a 16gb card. Anything larger and you start to use the card as an archive, rather than a working memory card. I would have two, one as a back up.

Hi, this is a problem because you cannot use camera connect to download video. I suggest either using the USB port and cable, if the mobile phone will accept that, or perhaps downloading the video onto a computer and then uploading it to the cloud, then to your mobile.

I bought my daughter a 2000D for Christmas. Curious question we were going through some of the pictures and deleted some we didn’t like. she now would like to get them back is that possible. On the counter on the upper right hand corner it shows spaces in the numbers. For example it says 5,6,7,10,11,13 ect. And that’s one of the other questions is in the upper right hand corner when we started taking pictures it said 100/0,100/1,100/2 ect does the 100 mean. Hello, OK so the answer about retrieving erased pictures should be yes, but you will have to go to the website for whoever has made the card. Basically, the card has designated the erased files to be overwritten, but has not actually erased them. So, provided you haven't taken too many pictures since, then they should be available if you use the right retrieval software. However - and I am sure you will have pointed this out - it would be far better to download all your pictures onto a hard disk or a computer and then make the decision, or decide to keep all your pictures, just saving the best ones to a separate file. As for the 100 at the top of the screen, that refers to the folder the pictures are in. The camera automatically creates a folder called 100Canon, when you format the card. The 100 refers to that. If you create a new folder, it will be called 101Canon, and the number will be 101. I do hope you are having fun with your 2000D. It is a great little camera.

no, not directly. The EOS system uses EF lenses (which can be used on full frame EOS cameras and crop frame EOS cameras) and EF-S lenses (which can be used on crop frame EOS cameras). They have auto focus and auto exposure. The FD lenses are manual, with auto exposure. You can get an adapter, like the Kood Canon AF To Canon FD Adapter, which is quite cheap and would let you attached your FD lenses to any EOS camera, but the lens would remain manual focus and you would lose the auto exposure as well. If you are going to get an EOS camera, I would suggest that you get the kit lens too, and the adaptor and then play around with your old lenses, but have the kit lens as back up or for days you just need to take a decent picture..

the canon flashes will work with this camera, and I have a Yongnuo 685 which works with it - as will most other generic makes. The thing to remember with third party flashes is that it must be dedicated to Canon, as the electrical connections on the hotshoe are unique.

Hello, when it is dark, or there is not much contrast in what you want to photograph, the lens autofocus will struggle to get the image sharp with the right exposure. To help the lens, the camera will fire the flash, so that there is more light and the subject is easier to focus on. there is not much you can do, in that this is what the camera is supposed to do to help you get good pictures. Ok so to avoid this, either use a different setting and increase the ISO, slow the shutter speed until you get a good result, or focus with the lens on manual rather than autofocus. a way round this is to use a tripod and switch the mode dial round to automatic with out flash - just below the green icon - and focus the camera. It will be slower, but when it has focused switch the lens to manual focus and then switch the mode dial around to portrait. the flash will pop up, but because it doesn't need to search for focus, it will only flash once to illuminate the subject.
