Luciano Bove says that you can only join car design school when 18 years old and young.Is this true? What is the age factor when joining car design school?Can you please explain this.He says joining school when you are old e.g 35 ,wont work and even later when looking for job.

if someone from Spain is watching this video. The University School of Industrial Design in Ferrol has two almost direct places each year to enter SEAT. It is public and costs very little money. I got one of those seats. It is industrial design in general, but you can do by yourself a final degree project on the automotive industry in collaboration with SEAT. it is a unique opportunity. If anyone needs more information let me know.

If you want to go to Pforzheim for the Bachelor degree. The Portfolio course called Zeichenprojekt by Thomas Ochs is extremely useful. It isn't a must have, but I wouldn't have got into the degree without it.

Very informative Video, Berk! :)) I applied at Pforzheim 3 times for the Bachelors Degree in Transportation Design. It's very tough and the amount of rejected students is very high...so I went to Munich studying Industrial design at the university of applied sciences, which was a very good decision. If you want to become a Transportation Designer you need to be persistent and open minded. On the sidelines I've heard that Lutz Fügener, the driving force of TD at Pforzheim has moved to Hof working on a new bachelors course called Design & Mobility. I am curious what kind of projects will be developed there :)

Totally agree Maloro! being persistent and open minded is really important :) Congrats on your decision! Also many schools changed the names of the courses as I see, rather than `car design` they have more like `mobility solutions` as you said, it is interesting but feels like a good change..

I do not recommend Coventry's automotive design course currently, after Covid the lectures and course organization has become very sloppy from the people in charge of this course. they have had plenty of time to recover since Covid and yet the teaching is still lacking and minimal.

Thank you Im glad you like! I decided to be a car designer before highschool. Then 4 years high school + 5 years uni + 1.5 years masters ; 10.5 years later I became a professional exterior designer at Italdesign :) During this period I already had internship at Ford, worked on a construction vehicle design studio and freelance works too..

yes the portfolio is definitely the key, this is why I mention about self improvement a lot! School has advantages like graduation shows and network possibilities. But most important is always the portfolio and your personality :)

Hi Anush, if you apply for masters it is highly possible that they will ask your portfolio. You can learn from my online courses to be confident with sketching and 3D modelling cars for creating your portfolio. However if you will apply for bachelors program I dont think there will be a problem. Best would be directly writing an email to school :) Good luck!

Hi, I'm not sure about that. I had classmates on my masters who are older than 30 and some of them got the job. Maybe not in the biggest OEM companies but still designer positions on smaller companies. There are many other things to consider, age itself is not enough to decide anything..

I don't know all the schools but I know SPD-Milano has One-Year Course. It is basically foundation year before masters :)
