Hey Sean, what are your thoughts on a multiple niche(ish)channel (Tech, MTB, Watersports ) inside a Travel/Lifestylechannel ? Can you cover this topic in a video ?
@JamesHarrisIII6 жыл бұрын
I think it sound pretty good for only 30.00 Sean I know after watching your review of the 20.00 Boya microphone I picked up and love it so this just steps it up for only 10.00 more and you get the additional mic seems well worth it for the quality.

Based on the quality i believe it should cost $15. I have heard better mics for $30 and wireless. Lookup Fifine Mics. Great quality for their price point. I use one of their wireless lav mics which cost me $30. However, this is still a great price for the product. It does sound decent. Specially if you don't need wireless.

I’m an AV professional with 20+ years of experience. For the last 3 years I’ve been the TEch Director for a historic theatre. I’ve been wanting to get into creating KZbin content for a while now. Stumbled into your channel a few days ago after researching tech equipment I’d need. My employer had to cancel all events due to COVID-19, but I am working from home. Now the need to engage with our audience via online media has come to the forefront. I just ordered some Boya mics today. After watching hours and hours of video I just couldn’t get over the sound quality when compared to mics that were way more expensive. I am a brand snob so I was looking for the Shure, Audio Technica, etc. professional brands I am so familiar with to also lead in manufacturing great mics that adapt to your smartphone. They are there and they are good, but after several shootout comparison videos I was convinced enough to give the Boya brand a shot. I ordered both the single wired lav and the mini shotgun to have flexibility. Excited to get started creating quality content with my iPhone 11 at an all in budget of just over $130 bucks - 2 mics, tripod, phone to tripod mount and all the necessary audio adapters. Signing up for your KZbin masterclass as well. Thanks for the great content.

I've had good luck with the Boya M1 mics. They have surprisingly good sound quality especially for the price. I'm using two Boya M1 microphones with a splitter into my Canon for interviews but the dual mic setup is a better value.
@MannyVegaNieves6 жыл бұрын
I love these interviews since it provides the information in a more casual setting due to the nature of a conversation.

VERY helpful and inspiring. My son and I are just starting and are very green. Hearing Heather talk about the beginning awkwardness and difficulty of editing is SO us! Very inspiring to know we are not alone. Also the mics sound REALLY good. As a matter of fact, I'll be heading to Amazon right now to pick up those mics no doubt. Smartphone video may be acceptable for starters creating, but the audio tends to suck. Thanks once again.

The BOYA dual lavaliere microphones did not have the same audio quality of your handheld, however, they are superior in quality to a standard on camera built in microphone. As much as I may prefer the deeper base of your handheld, the BOYA dual lavaliere microphones are a good buy at $30.
@ThinkMediaTV6 жыл бұрын
Agree. And we should have done a test with just the on camera mic. We were about 10+ feet away from the camera so the audio would be incomprehensible. So the BOYA def. a good budget solution. And I agree - the AVX is far superior - but it's also 10-20x more expensive. 😎
@maartenmidden16514 жыл бұрын
I think the deeper base is super annoying and more tiring to listen to. I noticed that a lot of KZbinrs prefer more base in the voice sounds.
@scotttovey4 жыл бұрын
@@maartenmidden1651 Dynamic mics will naturally deepen the sound as they eliminate a lot of ambient background noise.

The handheld is definitely cleaner and crisper, and the lavs capture a little bit too much of the room, but you can't beat that price. I'm guessing if you hadn't used the handheld as a reference, most people would be totally satisfied with the quality of the lavs.
@hazelvee25276 жыл бұрын
You can hear right away that the reviewed microphones capture more of the background noise. I am really impressed by the handheld microphone you use in the beginning. Which model is that?
@ThinkMediaTV6 жыл бұрын
Sennheiser AVX -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKjFZGiGgN1nb9U Which costs like 10-20x more. 😎 That background noise is actually typical of a lavaier style mic.

Thanks a lot for review. Very useful. I was considering this lav, but I can say from my experience so far, that even a one single omni lav mic placed in the middle, should work for random interview. Even low budget lav mics those days, can have a very decent pro quality. Additionaly, with the current developed softwares, you can easily make an improvement for any sound 🔊 recording. What you usually unable to correct, it's a speaker voice tone and their phonetics 😁
@futuretech23306 жыл бұрын
does it output 2 discrete channels? or does it combine both lavalieres into the output? i'm trying to do an interview with two people and i need to be able to control left and right channels for volume differences. does this give you 2 separate adjustable channels on the output ?

Hey there! Great video as always. Just one quick question. So I'm mainly using Osmoaction for filming now and connecting M1DM directly to Osmo might be too complicated and also won't be ideal to have all the cables hanging around when the Osmo IS actual camera to film. So I think having M1DM with my iphone to record the sound easily and freely and have Osmo free to focus on filming videos. What do you think? Thank you for your time and answer in advance!

Meh. I didn't really care for the background noise. Of course, I'm used to using Sony ECM 77Bs and Tram Lavalieres, and Sennheiser mics. It's not fair because the ECM77Bs cost over $400 a piece but I'm sorry, I just choose the stuff that works best for the job. Uhmm, and to be honest, I use those mics for professional work, too, so I know I'm not a fair judge. But do you hear the difference between the AVX and the BOYAs? Try listening with headphones because good 'phones are always less forgiving or any audio problems, and you'll hear a HUGE difference. If ya gotta go on the cheap, you can't get better advice than from Think Media, but if you're really ready to get serious and can sell your firstborn, go with the expensive mics. Your audio will really stand out from the pack. (BTW, limited to one Sennheiser ATX mic? Consider having a friend help and use a boom or fishpole, as it's often known. With a little practice, you can do sound like the pros do and leave the lavalieres in the kit.)

@ThinkMediaTV6 жыл бұрын
Both mics seem to be "always on" - but the answer is yes - you could just attach both mic to yourself. This actually looks "normal" because a lot of people will record backup audio so you can see two lavalieron them (Example: Phil DeFranco).

Among the best would be the new Huawei P20 Pro, Pixel 2 XL, Samsung Galaxy S7/8/9 and Note 8, LG V30 (best for video). Several groups have come out advising against purchase of Huawei phones due to the risk of deeply embedded spyware, but it's camera (it actually has 3 cameras) has fared well in comparison to full-frame DSLR cameras costing ~ $3,000 (though obviously far less capable than a DSLR).
