The problem with the video is we dont know what make/model the trolling motor is or what speed setting he was running for the trip (This will tell us amp draw.. If it is even a 30# Minn Kota running at level 5 it will pull almost 28-30amps an hour. So if you got 7+ hours (7x30amps=140ah's) out of it, that is exceptional.

alternative is just get a good peddle drive, hobbies are popular with the guys that go off shore or fishing in bay.

Unlike Lead Acid anything, this battery has a BMS, a battery monitoring system, which monitors individual cell voltages and cuts off the battery if battery voltage drops to 10 volts. It just turns off. The battery voltage creeps back up after its off, and will turn back on, but since its pretty much dead at that point, it just turns right back off. If you leave it alone, it will come back up to about 10.5 volts. I noticed you never turned on the little button on the side of the battery. It turns on the USB ports and there is a voltage meter between the 2 ports. You can check the voltage on that port to check your state of charge. I'll link a chart below from flypower's website, but based on your description, you were discharging at about a 0.2C rate, which would be a 5 hour rate. Here's some numbers. At 86F (30C), full chage is 13.3 volts. Here's some more numbers. Battery use vs voltage - 20% 13.0 v, 60%12.8 v, 80% 12.4 v, 90% 11.8 v, 95% 11.2 v, 98% 10.5 v. Those are rest voltages, so if its on and off, it can vary. Here's something for your next video. Go fishing and testing. Once an hour, turn on the battery voltage meter and take a picture. Keep doing that till you get down to 12 volts, then head back and do circles. It'll be dead in 30 minutes. Loved the Video btw, contact me if you want some tips. Good luck!

Also, I bought one of these to test out for a budget RV battery inverter build, and added a cheep battery monitor. Search for Shunt Battery Monitor on Amazon, its the Amazon choice for that search. The 100A version is less than $20 delivered for me. It reads out lots of things, but amp hour capacity is one of them. I charged it up and ran a fan for several days, it ran down to 10.2 volts, where my inverter cut out, and it was at 99.2 AH out. Enjoy.

what trolling motor are you using? size will consume in watts ; watts divided by 12v =Amps of use ... lithium batteries will just cut off power not decrease in power slowly like lead acid ones and the battery probably has a safety cut off power (about 10v) so it does not get drained to 0v causing damage.

No that's not normal. I have a mobility scooter with Lifep04 and even when the battery is saying empty the thing is still pulling up hills Sounds like the voltage is dropping

you can buy same battery 2 usb ports also better then fly power 5 year waranty and there called jialuonin chin ampretime 399 zooms is all the same battery dont buy chins flypower watch will prowes take apart same bms cell buy jialuonin have batterys in usa get on amazon you have nothing to lose and low temp cut off

Since most trolling motors are meant to handle lead acid batteries that fully charged output 13.5 volts or less, and LifPo4 batteries output 14.6-14.8 volts when fully charged has always concerned me that overtime would fry my trolling motor. Should that be a major concern?

I've been contemplating this same decision for 6 months now and 2 weeks ago after grabbing a 77lb AGM 100AH lead acid battery I returned it the very next day mainly because of the weight. I knew it would be heavy but when it came to actually loading the inflatable boat and trying to move it to the ramp (can't do it with the battery in unfortunately) holy heck that's just silly. I'm going to grab one of these flypower 80am or 100ah and just give it a go to save 55lbs of carrying weight and boat weight and hope the newport 62lb thrust stays in good shape for a couple years. The brushless trolling motors from Seamax and others say they have no issues with lithium however to your point. I'm looking for a test case as well as I have the same question/concerns you do.

Batteries, whatever the type, do not force electricity into the load (ie, trolling motor); the load draws energy from the battery only as needed. Lifepo batteries are good for all lead-acid uses EXCEPT as starting batteries.

These batteries have a cut off voltage around 10 volts. I have one in my shopping cart to use with a solar panel. It`s very hard to trust spending this much on one Made in China item. But these batteries, if cared for and charged and discharged in a controlled way and kept between 25% and 75-80% charged, can in theory last well over 20 years and 10,000-14,000+ charges. But the Chinese will try to save two pennies and reduce the chances of that by 75%.

That math is simple... If you have a 30lb Thrust Trolling motor, it will draw approx 30amps at full power, that is 3 hours straight (90amps) with a 100AH lithium battery... A 40lb Thrust TM draws about 40amps at full speed, that is 2.25hrs straight (90amps)...

@@reeljourney Sounds like your battery was a success... A regular Group 24 flooded Deep Cycle would have lasted maybe 1.5 hours but the speed would trickled lower following the voltage drain...

I just got my 100ah battery today. Mine was a budget one like yours ($400. budget battery-lol) I almost went for the "Amped Outdoors model" Then I was surprised when I started seeing the one I bought on Amazon Japan for about $400. Sorry no offense but this is a really bad video for comparing lithium iron phosphate battery to a lead acid. I have 17 ft starcraft dual consoles lots of weight 80 lb thrust 24 volt motor I troll about 1.5 mph I have two 150 amp hour lithiums I control 6 hours a day for 3 days without a charge only way I could get that with 120 amp hour lead acids brand new was if there was no wind. You also forgot to mention the fact that they are good for three to 7,000 cycles before they are at 80% capacity compared to three maybe 400 cycles with a deep cycle lead acid. You're running your motors on full speed this is no way to do a test. I also run two high powered amps and subwoofer two graphs and boss 12v2 active battery equalizer. I do turn it down for the walleye fishing but the pike really seemed to like the base. Best battery system I've ever come across I hate lead acids also took 70 lb off the front of my boat. Tired of replacing batteries every 2 years. No information about your BMS no information about what charger you using. Using car batteries for a deep cycle is not a good idea they are not designed for that they have thinner plates they are designed for short burst of high amp.
