You nailed it with the affiliate programs and paid sponsorship and product placements. It is my opinion that it has brought the issues many "creators" are dealing with at the moment. Way too many "reviews" are someone reading the product packaging standing in their backyard. The worst part is that product marketing has fed into the egos/hype of some of these people and it is a massive pool of poor products recommended for the wrong reasons.

This could be a good alternative for the fanny pack I'm normally using to carry my 'survival kit'. Out in the field I'm using 4 ways to carry my gear. #1 pockets in clothing, #2 fanny pack, #3 Mochila or small haversack, #4 backpack. These 4 are never in the way of each other. With the chest pack I see a conflict with the strap of the Mochila/haversack so the chest rig has to be either big enough to replace that or very flat. First time I saw a chest pack in use was by a friend (Colombian survival instructor) who had made his own. Very flat with just some pouches for his knife, radio, phone and some survival gear. Now it's fashion with mostly young people in town to carry a fanny pack on the chest as if you would carry a haversack. Might experiment with that way of carrying and see how it works out with my Mochila/haversack first. But all in all a good honest review. I see a lot of that sponsor things go around these days with these links to buy stuff and patreon, etc. I do sometimes get free stuff for testing send to me (usually knives) but these are knives or is gear that I think is really adding something. I always warn them it will be used and also when the product fails that will be in the review. No if or butts or contracts. Probably why I don't do that many reviews. ;)

That chest rig looks very good and useful. Having something close to your body when you need it is something to consider. Especially, if you are keeping the weight on your upper body than your lower body. I’d put an IFAK in it(a second one in the backpack). It is versatile and versatility is a big plus. To use it to carry a handgun and ammunition concealed is a plus. The fact that it isn’t tactical is another plus. So many pluses. lol The admin slot is something to work around. I guess an additional pouch or two can expand the uses of the rig. Great video!

Hello,how do you find it for walking - does it make you hot and sweaty?
@lorkainenkingg84973 жыл бұрын
@@redpillnibbler4423 With the gear I carry in it, the chest pack weighs about 4.5 pounds. It helps slightly with balance, but mostly going uphill. My small backpack has become my "carry everything" when I go for hikes on camping trips, but stuff gets difficult to find. My radio, camera, spare batteries, flashlight, granola bars, and first aid kit may have just found a new home. You should be commended by your viewers for your attitude and truth fullness very refreshing . I know I've said it before but it needs to be said more often. As to the chest unit I did use one back in the 60 s and 70 s for fishing for one reason to keep my stuff up and dry but as I have gotten older I find I do not need all the crap I carried I had everything in there but a truck jack as you get older you tend to make things simpler. As to using it for hiking honestly I never gave it a thought. That is why I've been waiting for these reviews since you first announced them last year. But I can see it could be handy I do use a shoulder ruck now and then .I think for my own personal reasons it looks suited for a great med kit which for me is absolutely a must have even for a short walk out from base camp to fish or tAKE PICTUERS OR JUST WATCH THE SUN COME UP OR GO DOWN .every one in the family has there own and knows how to us the contents. the grand kids learn that before fire making . I would be interested and looked at it on the Helikon site. The price is reduced because of a sale. One problem is it ships from Poland and is hit with a tariff fee (if it ships outside of Europe) that adds $39 dollars to the UPS shipping cost. It is a good example of stupid is what stupid does. I noticed at the 2020 Shot Show Helikon are starting to use Dave Canterbury as a spokesperson... maybe SelfRelience Outfitters will find a way around the ridiculous tariff charge.

I like this chest rig but I don't use one often enough to justify the price for this Helikon Tex. I absolutely love their Swagman Roll and Poncho which I use frequently for overnighters as a bed roll or sleep system. My chest rig is an inexpensive Wynex in black (also made in od green). It's great to just toss over my head when exploring beyond the camp perimeter for firewood and water. The contents are basic survival items such as a Schrade, compass, whistle, Bic, reflective path tape, TP and a monocular. The front panel is 95% loop which accommodates several morale patches and my Schrade, sheath with a small ferro rod. The thing I love is it leaves my hands free and without carrying a cumbersome pack or shoulder bag. The great pro is the price which is less than 20 bucks. BTW I love how you mounted your blade in the video...pretty cool.

Love it. I have the HPG Heavy Recon and like it a lot but it does scream “gun” when on a populated trail. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have bought the one with laser cut molle although it is handy to attach their bino harness to. This model looks more streamlined, but that retention cord that keeps the rig from falling open would get in the way of the draw. I’d take it out.

Thanks for the review Luke. I have been using one of these rigs for a year now for hiking. I like having my need to have items to hand and it really scores well on this front. I removed the insert complexity as I thought it too heavy and cumbersome for what I wanted and too difficult to remove easily. It took me a long time to remove. This gave me more room to add other hook and loop items in inside. I found mine leaked like a sieve in heavy rain, even when I sprayed it with a 'waterproofed' and now anything that needs to be waterproof goes inside a ziplok bag. It is very comfortable to wear with a backpack and I haven't found sweating too much of a trouble but I am in the UK and the weather has not really been much over 25deg C, but I do do 15 mile walks with it. I have been in 2 situations on world wide trips where people have had to ditch their backpack e.g. in a swamp and sinking in Ecuador. I have read about hikers in the mountains falling and losing backpacks. So I use it for my emergency SOS GPS tracker, phone in waterproof case, compass, spare glasses, print of any maps I need for the day, space blanket, headlamp, water treatment tablets, light and a Victorinox with blade and a saw. Using Dave Canterbury's 10 C's ideas I cover most of them. I never take it off except when sleeping and have it hand as a grab bag in my tent. It is a great bag. The only improvement I would look for is waterproof bag.
