Hey Stu, I think I have watched nearly all your vids now, and you would have to be one of the best shots I have seen. Well done, and who says you need all that new fancy equipment.
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, yes I suppose it is what you are used to. I find that a lot of shooters are forcing themselves to 'fit' to a firearm which means they are forcing their shots. A good test next time you raise your rifle to the shoulder close your eyes and when you think that you are set then open your eyes. If your head is too high or out of alignment to the scope or sight then the rifle is not suited. Before I buy a gun or rifle that is what I do as it ensures that when I throw that rifle up I am not taking a split second to find the sight picture. Obviously this is only for extreme snap shots and not the normal shot in the bush.

Yeah mate, we were out Thallon way and there were a few around the cropping country. Bloody dry though all around that area. Last morning we got 35 pigs around a chick pea crop between three of us, and only covered 11k's on the bikes. Had a long line of them run right past me, wish I'd had the Adler then, would have been fun. Mine's got a Bushnell TRS-25 on top and is sighted for slugs too, in case I want to do that.

What's your opinion on using a .223 for hunting? Most specifically a Ruger gunsite/American, or Howa varmint/Mini action?
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
The 223 is a great little cal mate. I reckon the Howa is value for money. Just be prepared that on a big old boar with dry crusted mud will stop a 223 bullet penetrating. In these cases just aim for the but of the ear if possible.

WOW That looks like a lot of fun shooting hogs during the day easy as pie Them things are never out in the day where I hunt in Texas and I have to wait all night sometimes only to find none of them show up but hog hunting is like fishing where I hunt so some nights I get a bite others I do not and all the excitement is waiting for them to bite That thermal scope Ed brought out in one of my videos sure helped a lot and I plan on getting one in a few months so hunts might be a lot more fun then but for now I will just use the LED light setup that seems to work better now that I have two on one pole Hope to get one this weekend but like I say it is like fishing so I never expect to catch one and the fun is in the waiting for a bite

Full choke with SGs I reckon the 18 pellet version rather than the 9 pellets. Ref the Shotty choice. I was also looking at the pardus but was talked out of it by the gunshop as they don't have the backup or warranty that the Adler has. 5 year warranty for the adler and all parts etc are here in Australia. Whereas if the pardus stuffs up then the only parts are in Turkey!

What is you all time favorite pig gun?
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
Good question mate. My 3 top rifles and cal that I have used with great success is: Winchester 30/30; Parker Hale 243; and Ruger MK11 30/06. The 243 was great but lacked knockdown power on the big boars if I didn't head shoot them. The 30/30 lacked distance as it is a carbine and short barrel. However, the 30/06 has it all, knockdown power, long range and the bullets are readily available at all gunshops if you run out when out in the field.

Ha, it takes practice mate.

what do you do with 'em? We (in Texas on our ranch) just pile 'em up and let the kyotes and buzzards eat 'em.
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
Same as in texas mate, you can eat them but it is a lot of stopping and starting and not as many pigs taken out. Within a week other pigs and foxes eat them
@guerd877 жыл бұрын
Hunting with Stu do you take 1 or 2 home for the freezer? ive heard mixed reviews about eating the pigs or not. what are you loading the adler with and what caliber i your rifle? ive got both a SHS straight pull 12g and a 308 ill take with me next time.
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
John sorry about the late reply as sometimes the new comments don't appear n I find them trolling through the clips. No we don't take any home as the farmer has us for a short period each year and just wants us to shoot as many as possible. I use sgs in the adler but might try some solids next time mate. Steve likes his straight pull but he often forgets to pull the handle to reload ha.
@travishut72277 жыл бұрын
hey mate what ammo are you running or do you reload ?
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
I reload the 30/06 mate and do a batch of 100 when I have that many cases to reload. I tend to stick with 150grn projectiles, however, this last batch I was given some assorted bullets some 150grns, some 165grn and 180grns so hopefully that won't affect my point of aim much as the average running shot is between 20 to 100m.

Mate these vids are unreal!! very realistic to what you actually find when shooting and not these fantasy vids finding mobs of 30 every time.

What do you do with all that meat mate?
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
The farmer wants as many pigs taken out as possible when we are in loc so we leave them where they fall. Within a week the carcasses are gone eaten by other pigs, foxes etc
@quinlandungey16187 жыл бұрын
Wow, yea same with roos I've shot in WA. Are you guys based in NSW?
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
Yes mate, I live in Sydney and travel out west a few times a year

How popular is 270 win down there for this sort of work?
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
The 270 is probs more popular than any other pig rifle mate. My dad is a 270 man.
@AlexDonnett7 жыл бұрын
Stu Laughton thanks. Looks fun but there are no hogs here in northwest ohio
@slider657 жыл бұрын
The 270 is still very popular for pigs and deer. My 2 go to rifles for pigs is a 308 Ruger Gunsite Scout and a marlin 1895 guide gun in 45/70.
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
Nice choice of firearms mate. I have never fired a 45/70.

Mate have you ever used a red dot? Though it seems you are agreat shot with the scoped rifle... Red dot would limit your range but most of the action is short range and the pigs wouldn't stand a chance.
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
No I haven't used one mate but you are right they are very good at acquiring a target quickly at close range
@jacorin7 жыл бұрын
the red dot would be pretty ideal for the shotty yeh?
@HuntingwithStu7 жыл бұрын
Yes mate, Steve uses one, however, he reckons the split second to locate the dot plays on his aim so doesn't really like it.
