Great review! I will say I've been using the Gama Ray's for over a year and you're dead on with the smudging!! But..They're really good glasses! You learn not to touch the lenses after you wipe them down. These glasses have all but eliminated my eye strain which lead to dry tired eyes. The frames are OK nothing special and the comfort is really good. They're build quality is actually good. I myself recommend the Gama Rays.

Thanks for the videos - nice to have someone do all the research for us :) I am a graphic artist and need a pair, hopefully sub-$100, and need a large frame. You mentioned in one of your videos that Gunnars weren't big enough for you? Is there a brand or frame option you suggest? I was settled on Gunnar until I heard you mention (in another video) that they were too small for you. Thanks in advance!

I purchased the Spektrum glasses from Amazon! They had such positive reviews!! I’ve had issues with eye fatigue and burning after my long 8+ hours per day on computer for work and felt like my regular eyeglasses were not helping. So far so good with my new Spektrum glasses!! I have forgotten that I even have them on and have worn them after work by accident. Spektrum has Prospeck-99 glasses on their website that blocks 99% of all blue light but they have a significant yellow tint. They also have Lumin night driving glasses on their website for $39.95 that I may consider buying. Night driving can be a nightmare for me at times. Thanks for the review 😊

For everyone who has the J&S they do block 90% but he has the wrong ones.. I have both pairs. The one in the vid is for reading (low) and the the ones that block 90% are for gaming and they do have an amber tint on them. You have to select the correct pair for 90% (HD and they’re only like 5 buck more on amazon) they last about a year had mine for 8months of heavy usage before I saw a real downgrade not too bad imo and I’ve only had the HD ones for a couple days but they seem way better hope this is helpful

Hi Oliver, I am nearsighted about 3.75 and I see that the Spektrum does have options for magnification but just at 2.5 or 3 (which is currently not available anymore) at most. I don't know if I should buy a pair of glasses which fits my prescription or I could just buy a none or with little magnification like the Spektrum. Currently I am working with my prescription glasses but the longer I work, the sorer my eyes get and I really want something to improve the situation. I really like the Spektrum but I don't know if they are viable for me since I am nearsighted... Also I can't try them on (since I live in foreign country). Could you please help me to decide? Thanks in advance!
@EyeInfluence
@EyeInfluence 6 жыл бұрын
Because of your nearsightedness you’ll have to have glasses made and not use the pre-made glasses like those by spectrum. Felix Gray makes good computer glasses and so does Gunnar. Either that or get a set of glasses made from your doctors office. Looking into Eyezen lenses with Shamir Blue Zero coating. Hope this helps. :)

Hope to see you at 1 M subs :)
@EyeInfluence

Thank you for the info. I looked them up and the glasses look awesome. They have lenses that are better for gaming so that's why they have a more noticeable amber tint. As long as you don't need color accuracy then these should be fine. If you want a lens that a true computer glass then go for Gunnar or Felix Gray. They are more expensive but they offer lenses with less color and a slight magnification to help reduce eye fatigue. Hope that info helps! Thanks for the comment and let me know if you have any other questions.

Speaking of cleaning lenses, my regular Rx glasses set smudged frequently. I found using the provided lens wipe just smeared dirt around and then got dirty itself. I have since been cleaning them under the faucet with dish detergent. Is that bad? Am I ruining my lenses? What is the best way to clean them?
@EyeInfluence
@EyeInfluence 5 жыл бұрын
That's the best way to clean them. Just a bit of dish soap on your fingers breaks down the oils from eyelashes, lotion and fingerprints. As for the cloth, it may be saturated with oils so throwing it in the wash with your kitchen towels could help.

@EyeInfluence

First I would suggest getting an eye exam. 1 in 6 people need corrective glasses. If you end up being 20/20 then I’d start with a set of Felix grey with magnification or Gunnar’s. They aren’t super expensive and they are great quality. Blue light alone isn’t your problem. Try to rest your eyes every 20 minutes for at least a few seconds. Do that for a solid week and I’m sure you’ll start to se positive results.

@EyeInfluence
@EyeInfluence 5 жыл бұрын
If we get really technical, yes, computer glasses have power in the lenses. The way blue light glasses are promoted it is more common for consumers to call them computer glasses. In order to reduce confusion, I call both computer glasses but I make it clear in the video that they are actually blue light filtering glasses.

Hey Oliver, thank you so much for your videos. They are most helpful! I wanted to ask what your opinion would be on the Barner Computer Glasses. They are currently crowdfunding for their second edition of computer glasses. Their first release seems to have done well and fetched some good reviews. Link to their current campaign can be found here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/edugaya/barner-20-the-ultimate-computer-glasses/updates I am working at a computer all day and have developed eye strain and a little bit of dryness, so I'm looking for a solution for everyday use. I too tried out the Flux program but I'm not an avid fan of the tint as it interferes with the true monitor colour when I'm painting. What drew me to the Barner brand specifically was the design/colour range and sunglasses clip-on option as well as the lack of obvious yellow tint. As you've mentioned about other brands, Barner also doesn't talk about magnificaiton and I don't know how to find out if they have it or not. Thank you for your time, Toni
@EyeInfluence
@EyeInfluence 5 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of companies popping up but much like most of them, Barner is simply blocking blue light and that just isn’t enough. It’s great and all but upon reading their description they say that Computer vision syndrome can lead to Macular Degeneration and that is simply not true and there is absolutely no data to prove it. Once I saw that I knew that they were nothing more than another blue light blocking option. Their frames are cool looking but I wouldn’t expect their lenses to do more than a spektrum, j+s vision or other inexpensive options. They don’t mention magnification so I doubt they will offer it right away. If your in need of good computer glasses with little color get Felix Gray or Gunnar with Crystalline lenses. That’s the best choice. Hope this helps.

I bought the gammarays, and personally think that it's crap. One lens blocks blue, the other purple. Also, shouldn't the lenses circle around your complete eye sight, or shouldn't the glasses somehow close off the sides? I'm asking because the lenses aren't blocking from just one side, but both. Which means the light that is coming in from the sides and rear are also being filtered, and the blue light is now concentrated from the cambered lenses and being shot straight into your eyes. So whats the point of these "normal" shaped glasses? The only scenario where these would work is in a pitch black room.
@EyeInfluence
@EyeInfluence 5 жыл бұрын
You get what you pay for with the Gammarays. As for the side and back exposure, you shouldn't worry much about that. Unless you are surrounded by monitors, all set to the brightest setting, the main concern will be the light coming the from device in front of you. If you're outside then you should be wearing sunglasses.

The lenses are tinted that way to cut down on the blue light. Pretty soon lenses will not have that color. Blue light filtering is advancing to the point where the lenses are virtually colorless. You can find them already with companies like Felix Gray, Pixel and Gunnar (to name a few). The lower cost glasses will be like that for a couple more years though.

It's still under $40 and it's inexpensive compared to higher quality computer glasses. J+S isn't bad, In my opinion it just isn't designed as well as the Prospek.
