For the Melee button mapping i use the Right Bumper for the charged Melee and for the normal melee i use the Right Stick. It makes for more deliberate use of the charged melee and less consequential aim mistakes if you press the stick while adjusting your aim

I was so disappointed to find out that the ads multiplier can’t give you an exact sensitivity. I started playing on 15 and wanted my ads sense at 7.5 but it never felt like 7.5. Me personally the only thing I change is that I put crouch as r3 because I only play hunter and exclusively played hunter for years so it’s really valuable to be able to instantly change direction, break aim assist, and have a few frames of god mode while still having my thumb on the right stick

I 100% had the misconception of the ADS multiplier. I was really hyped to bump my sens from 7 to 8 but running with 0.8 ADS multiplier to lower my aim to 6. I’ve had a much harder time adjusting to the fact that aiming is not 1:1 than expected, and also the acceleration factor def explain why I’m overshooting/under shooting more than usual.

I use 20 sense at .8 turn scale and .7 ads modifier so that when I’m using a sniper/shotgun/Thundercrash titan, I can bait and turn then slam and shotgun and guarantee my kills. The .7 modifier gives me a good middle ground between high zoom and low zoom ads sens. I wish I could change high and low zooms speeds separately because .7 is a little too slow for sniping and a little too fast for low zooms like the multimach, chromarush, or last word. I still have to experiment a little more but this is just what I’ve found so far. Great video, keep up the good work.

Personally when it comes to sensitivity in games I’ve always said use whatever your comfortable using and use what makes you land your shots. However if you can use max sensitivity and still land all your shots then use max sensitivity. The advantages are insane, you can react quicker and in shotgun fights it makes all the difference. But if your using max sensitivity and missing some shots then tone it down a bit. That’s the way I’ve always looked at it.

Great video, man! You've got a new subscriber^^. For the charged melee I did this: - Disable automatic melee - Set uncharged melee as normal melee button (in my case is R1) - Set charged melee to "reload" + "melee button" (that's Square and R1 in my case). The benefit is that the reload button doesn't change your guardian's position, unlike jump or crouch. You can ever press reload slightly before melee and still works. Furthermore, the "clamp- efect" you make with your both fingers makes it way too suitable for a quick input.

This video gave me the motivation to finally mess around with the sensitivity and mapping. I have 5's across the board now because I've been doing a lot of scout/sidearm playing at range so I don't need fast turning and that has significantly improved my aim. BUT the biggest thing was being able to jump and slide while aiming. That alone has completely changed my playing for the better. I went from 1.0/1.5kd or worse on average to 2+ on average. Even matches where we get stomped I'm routinely doing better than I was prior to the changes. Don't think this doesn't apply to you, it's seriously helpful stuff. Great video! The only downside is this video cost me $80 because I couldn't find a good mapping without a controller that adds extra buttons. I expect reimbursement by the end of the quarter.

I know I'm late to the party but this along with your other vids on 60/40 rule, common low kd mistakes and how to improve with hand cannons has drastically changed my pvp experience. Literally went from pretty basic 1.5-2kda matches to pretty easy 3+kda with a few 30+ kill 10+kda matches within a few days. Even managed to get the 'we ran out medals' medal too. I was running 14 sens, max ads and max sprint-turn. Changed to 8 sens, 0.6 ads and 0.6 sprint-turn. Literally night and day. Shotgun has taken a bit to get used to with the lower sens but HC/pulse/scout accuracy improved first game with new settings. Appreciate these vids man, keep them coming!

Yo so for the charged melee….I have a solution that I love. First of all, I have crouch set to R3 press and class ability set to long r3 press. This frees up the Circle ⭕️ button for your uncharged melee. I have charged melee still on R1 because, like Shadow said, you need your thumbs on your joysticks to aim your charged melee. This leaves Finishers in a weird spot. Since it only works in PVE, I put it on D-Pad Down button. If an enemy can be finished- you will instantly finish them. If not- your emote still works as normal! It may sound weird reading it but trust me, it feels like a natural solution for anyone who’s already used to playing on Puppeteer. Give it a try!

So far I'm at 13 and .8 and still tweaking as time passes. Also mapping finisher to both sticks, normal melee to right stick, and charged melee to default melee button has worked wonderfully for me. Inspecting players is set to right stick double click with hold at end.
@onedot63 жыл бұрын
About the charge melee button mapping thing - on my basic Xbox controller, I’ve bound super to up on d-pad (cause tbh I don’t need 4 emotes, and the only time I would need to hold left stick while supering is well skating), I bound charged melee to right bumper, and then uncharged melee to right stick press. Then finisher (which used to be right stick press in) is left bumper + right bumper. I really like using that, doesn’t screw me over in pve and helps in pvp running mini hammer, throwing knives, etc
@Silvermud213 жыл бұрын
Loved the video. I’d love to experiment with new button layouts and different melee inputs, but I’ve been playing this game for so long with the same settings that I don’t know if it’s worth it. I have an Elite and I use all 4 paddles, so I already have crouching, jumping, reloading/reviving and sprinting mapped. But I did yo my sensitivity to 10 from 7, and my ADS multiplier from 1 to .7. Not sure if I like it more or not though

I’ve been using the Jumper configuration. tried out a few different options for the melee, i had it set to the same as the finisher at first but sometimes it would use the grenade (like it would do for inspecting people before I changed that) I think clicking both sticks was the best option but I still ran into some instances where it wouldn’t trigger, i also figured I’d be using the basic melee more often than the charged so I didn’t want to just switch them, so I just opted to not use the separate melee trigger. it would be cool if Sony put out an elite version of the dualsense so I could take advantage of paddles.

@letterv41983 жыл бұрын
Ok so I have a lot to say about this and I don’t know a good way to condense it, so, massive wall of text incoming. First off, I’ve always liked higher sense because of how easy it helps with rapid movement and helps against rapid movement. Most of the movement I gain from high sense on a daily basis is turning sliding into a disengagement tool akin to a hunter dodge without having to run hunter, and improving movement abilities like icarus dash (yes, I play TTD). With higher sense you can quickly flick your stick and sprint slide into cover for something comparable to what a hunter dodge does minus disabling aim assist and tracking. For icarus dash, only on higher sense can you flick around your stick like a maniac, confusing your enemies (and yourself if you’re not careful). As for helping play against rapid movement, higher sense allows you to flick and easily correct your aim on certain things higher level players use such as strafing, flying into engagements with stomp-EE5 and TTD, and not losing track of a hunter using a double jump mid engagement. The pain points you highlighted about higher sense are all true, it is much higher to maintain accuracy on higher sense and a lot of times you will be overshooting your target, but there are ways to mitigate that. Firstly, you can run a kontrol freek, they aren’t too expensive and a heightened stick 100% has increased my accuracy on higher sense as it slows the acceleration curve as to not feel jarring- honestly I couldn’t imagine going back to no kontrol freek without lowering my sense. Secondly, the 0.5x ads scalar has also made my aim extremely accurate on most weapons, the only ones that it hasn’t improved, as to be expected, are hip-fire based weapons like TLW, DMT, tommy’s and hip-firing on general weapons, which is a niche scenario and can be improved with training. The one thing I’ve noticed about 20 sense as compared to 10 sense is that you only really feel a massive difference in aim when your right thumbstick is fully pressed down on the edge, meaning the entire zone inside the center and the edge feels almost identical to 10 sense. This makes running hip-fire based weapons possible, just that you need to train yourself to not hold the thumbstick fully down to one edge and it will definitely be an entire process. Lastly, button binds. I used to have a messed up right bumper because the xbox elite controller is complete ass (would recommend the power a fusion pro 2 btw if you run an xbox controller), but I had to bind melee to the right thumbstick for a long while until my new controller came in, so by the time it was in I was completely used to the right thumbstick and couldn’t go back to the bumper. With the new charged and uncharged melee, I’ve been running uncharged on the stick and charged on the bumper, and it’s taken a little bit of retraining muscle memory but eventually I think it’ll click. I used to have class abilities on RB for ease of use, but with the new addition I’ve bound hunter dodge back to B, B, and I’ve messed around with my emotes and bound rift and barricade to down on the pad- you can reach over with your right thumb to press down- and I did this because in general I didn’t like holding B to place a rift or barricade and you couldn’t slide into a rift or barricade with it bound to hold B. TL;DR Higher sense allows faster more rigid moves and helps combat against it, 0.5x ads modifier and a kontrol freek helps with high (20) sense, and bind uncharged melee to RS(R3) and charged melee to RB(R1)
@AzureTusk3 жыл бұрын
As someone who played cod and halo a lot growing up, I set my charged melee to right bumper (I’m on Xbox I don’t know the PlayStation equivalent) and my regular melee to clicking right stick. As for finisher I don’t remember off the top of my head. I don’t have any paddles or anything like that so I don’t have a ton of real estate for my controller so something like this helps a lot

RB-charged melee R3 press- uncharged melee R3 hold- finisher It works for me since muscle memory for charged melee is already in place, clicking r3 in a close range for landing a punch isn't a detriment for any variation of the stick postion, plus you already expect a to lose time due too finisher animation so holding down r3 works (at least imo)

My melee layout: L2 for charged melee, R3 for uncharged. Tap down d-pad for finisher, hold down d-pad for emote. This has been working for me, but I run a pretty normal button layout, no puppeteer or anything. Just remember you can change things to hold, so put stuff on the d-pad and just change emotes to hold. I use down for important stuff because it's the closest distance my thumb has to move from the stick.

Great video! I'm hoping it helps me, but could use your advice. I WAS one of those kids who was great at video games. Lightning-fast reflexes and I could beat just about anyone handily, especially adults. But that was roughly 40-50 years ago as I go back to the first video game, PONG, back in the early 70's. I never stopped playing except for the odd year or two when going to college. But when I bought the first Xbox360 at launch, I started to realize I was slowing up a bit and my reaction times weren't as good. Fast forward to today, and I've got pretty significant arthritis in my hands so it's tough. I tend to react slow, then over-react to compensate. I have found kontrol freeks thumbsticks and precision rings to be a big help, but I will NEVER be very good in the Crucible. My only skill there is tactics in general. I'm going to go iwth your middle-of-the road recommendations and tweak from there, but if you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Thanks much!

Thanks for these helpful tips because found a good balance between the sensitivity and the ADS modifier and the Sprint scale I now run a sensitive of 10 and a ads of 0.7 and sprint-turn scale of 0.8 and thanks again.

If anyone is having trouble aiming try binding Jump to (R3/RS) with Melee as (R1/RB) or vice versa. I only suggest using Melee as (R3/RS) if you don't use it as often as other players due to Playstyle, Map Knowledge, and it even coming down to what Subclass you are currently running. Whatever your excuse for either one of these binds, the main purpose is that you can pull of a Quick Melee attack if needed or even use it as a Combo. You can find that trying these settings in other games that have Double Jump might have an improvement to your gameplay.

So .... I started to change my play style based off of your videos ... and I went from getting roughly 5-6 kills (on a good day without lag or cheaters "Stage 4 of every Hunter main" xD) to 10-12 without trying, I've even completely carried a few matches going 15 - 1 ( K/D in 3v3 matches) ... also ... I had my settings completely wrong so thx for this video I used to be so frustrated in the difference between mouse and key compared to controller so hopefully this helps even more with my gameplay

As someone that’s gonna back and forth between COD and Destiny over the years, the addition of an ads modifier is a god send. By far was the most difficult thing to get reacquainted with when coming back to destiny.

As a titan main, I actually ignored the charged/uncharged update cause it didn't seem to matter for me, but your suggestion of setting it to clicking both sticks has been pretty good on my hunter...just have to train myself to remember to do it and it's been going good so far.

for the button mapping I am Running a battle beaver xbox controller with 4 back buttons that can be mapped to different face buttons of the controller. I have: X mapped to interact (top right back button) A mapped to class ability (bottom right back button) B mapped to un charged melee (Top left Back button) Down D-Pad mapped to Charged Melee (bottom left back button) For jumping I'm playing bumper jumper so left bumper is jump, right bumper is grenade. Also have super set to Y+Right bumper cause I kept having issues with A+right bumper using my class ability instead of activating my super.

Great vid. Pretty much confirmed I’m on the right track. I am a sniper / blink main and use to run 8 sens with no traction as traction throws off my side ways and backwards blinks. I now run 12 sens with a .7 multiplayer bringing my ads sens to 8.4. I also upped my sprint turn to .5 so compensate a little bit for traction but not throw me off.

He said in the vid that sensitivity is non-linear, so you can't just multiply it like that

Not sure if anyone else has posted this already but for anyone using puppeteer swapping the uncharged melee to circle (double press) while keeping the charged melee as r2 (single press) worked wonders for me. You could also try vice versa depending on your play style but one recommendation I would have wether you map the uncharged or charged melee to circle would be to keep the finisher as the single press option and make the new button the double press option as the other way around leads to some awkward gameplay.

I'm sure this will be discounted as BS but I followed some of the suggested tips and oh my goodness has it helped. I've been play testing around with guns I previously deemed unusable like Fatebringer and AOS because my sensitivity was apparently too high and I dropped 2 We Ran's in rumble and won 90% of the games I played all evening. Could not be more thankful man 100% this video improved my game like nothing else.

i use double press and long press on my melee button (which is RB) for both melees. double press for a normal melee and long press for charged. it takes like 2 tens of a second for the charged melee to start up which is faster than your brain even comprehending what's going on. I've played around a lot with specifically those two options and i found out that for me having both attacks on one button is a godsend and i would recommend everyone to at least try the long press and double press options. btw my crouching is on lb (i jump on r3) and finisher is double press lb. i rarely use finishers anyway and double crouching is not tied to any ability so there's no harm done. sens is on 7 and ads modifier on .7 btw. i might end up raising my sens eventually, but i feel comfortable with where it is currently

Here's the button mapping I use and it has been working for me. The controls I changed will be capitalized. I use an Xbox controller so I'll be using those notations. A - Jump B - UNCHARGED MELEE / FINISHER (Hold) X - Reload / Interact Y - Switch Weapons LT - ADS RT - Shoot LB - Grenade RB - CHARGED MELEE LS - Sprint RS - CROUCH / SLIDE (Hold) / CLASS ABILITY (Double Press) I personally like having full control of my movement on the thumb sticks. I also like having my abilities on the bumpers, one because those were the controls I used back in Halo 3, and also because those are the abilities that go on cooldown. I also used to play with the "Tactical" layout on Call of Duty, so uncharged melee on the B button is natural to me. If you also played Halo or Tactical on Call of Duty, I'd give this layout a shot.

I Always Hear People Talk About How Giving Their Sensitivity Wouldn't Matter Since It's Up To The Player's Preference But.. I Still Think Getting Another Player's Sensitivity Is Helpful As It Can Provide A Template To Maybe See If Their Sensitivity Works For You Or If It's Somewhere Around Their Range

The reigning CHAMP for Console players.💯🔥 After years, I've finally started playing Crucible regularly and while I finally found a couple builds I'm comfortable with, there are still minor tweaks I'm having trouble with. With each video, I pick up little bits of info that I get to see results of in my gameplay. Keep up the excellent work

This is a suggested video in my feed and I had to watch the whole thing. I've never struggled in any game ever with ADS accuracy until destiny. PvP or PvE I just cannot for the life of me snap to targets, flick regularly, or just get mostly hits on moving targets, and I know it's because ADS-ing just doesn't feel good for me in Destiny. It's funny that you said if ppl told you what to run your sense at them they're prob not giving you good advice because I thought so! 4:23 this right here! I literally can NEVER find ppl when it gets messy in close quarters. Are they behind me, above me, what???

I dont play a lot of games. I more recently got into it, so when I looked into controller support on pc the few games I have played did not let me change the sensitivity. But I tried this. I am still not good at fps but lowering the ADS did help my precision. Also increasing sensitivity a little when sprinting helped me flow better. Randomly found the video when searching for builds but I am glad I did as it helped me.

New sub here, appreciate your content, I've played Destiny since day 1 on D1...stopped playing about a year ago to play other games and have recently jumped back in for this season, your content has been VERY helpful and has helped me get caught up with what I have missed, keep up the great work bro thanks! 💯

Higher sensitivity does make you more accurate if you know how to control it tho. It allows much more precise inputs bc the pressure you exert on the axis doesn’t need to be as much to move the camera it’s like those joystick covers you see at GameStop. I’ve noticed that with 20 sensitivity it’s way easier to consistently hit sniper shots than on a lower sensitivity bc you can be so precise with the joystick

While I do appreciate the new control options Bungie has added over the years, there’s still so many actions in this game that are hard coded to work in a certain way. They added this whole long press, regular press, and double press system for any input. Yet they don’t actually work for most actions and and don’t get interrupted. For example, the reload on vex mythoclast will always activate on release press, even if you put the alternate weapon action on a button separate from reload. The action will always be hard coded to go off on release, when it doesn’t need to.
