This is 100% true. It is the most comfy, best sealing CPAP mask I have used and I have tried dozens. It just feels good on my face I think because its so big. The newer ones haven't worked out as well, even the Quattro F series, etc. The forehead support really helps, where most of the newer designs, using only straps, don't cut it. Cons: its bulky and ugly -- so it may freak out a date, when you want something more unobtrusive in bed, like nasal pillows.... But if that's not a worry, its excellent. I just wish they had a way to keep the silicone clear and pretty. It clouds up almost immediately after the first few washes.

Hi there, thanks for that. Most people who own a quattro swear by it which is why i wanted to to do the video. Yeah i agree with you on the silicone staying clear. I guess that all the sweat and oils from the skin eventually sink into it and make it go that cloudy color. Still seals pretty well though even when cloudy. Have a great day. Nick

Nick I had been experiencing a lot of leaks recently and my mask (FlexiFit 432) no longer worked. I use high pressure (16-20, most of my time at 19). I had tried several masks with limited success (the Vitera worked occasionally for me but would not always seal), the F20 Air Touch leaked worse than my original mask. Based on this video, I bought a Mirage Quattro, it works great. I did enlist the help of a local Canadian sleep tech in getting it fitted (as I suspect I was overtightening it). She supported what you said, it is the best mask for those of us who need high pressures. It works really well. Thank you, I only considered this mask because of this video. I appreciate all you do for the community.

Cheers Nick - I purchased this mask solely on the strength of this review and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Well made and what I particularly like about it is that it doesn't feel like it's inflating my nose when it 'lifts' off the face (e.g. during pressure increases under ASV). I feel this is an important point, as the more modern F20 for example (which I also own) doens't have the forehead rest which means the top of the mask pulls away slightly from the face which pulls inwards on the seal slightly pinching the top of the nose - this alone makes getting to sleep far more difficult in certain cases like my own, where my tidal volume plummets at sleep onset forcing the ASV to pump much more air just as I'm nodding off. Great review.

Nick, you've the best of the YT CPAP channels, thank you. Please address that it is available with STANDARD and LARGE headgear, and how to decide which one to use. I've tried both, and the upper strap always moves to the top of my head or down to my neck in use, instead of staying horizontally around my head. Don't you think that different size masks would be helpful (not going to change after all these years.) My CPAP supplier says ResMed has discontinued the Mirage Quattro. Is that true.

Air Sense 10, and Ultra mirage full face mask, which I've been told by my supply company, ResMed no longer makes. .I've been switched to the Quantro which I despise. 24 different settings with the knob twist and I think it moves during the night because I wake up with s sore snoot. Never had that will the Ultra Mirage mask. I'm very interested in the two Lowenstein masks, The Lena looks pretty good. But the Cara looks even better. Any thoughts on either mask would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

Nick, maybe I am in the minority, but I really disliked the Quattro. Extremely uncomfortable pressure on my forehead (no matter how I adjusted it) and way too bulky and heavy. My CPAP supplier had recommended it probably for the same reasons as you recite here, but I gave up on it after three months and switched to the newer full face AirFit F20, which was superior (for me) in every way. Maybe it's because I don't need really high pressures, but I tossed my Quattro into the trash bin. Thanks for the channel and your reviews, and regards from the other side of the former British Empire in Ontario Canada.

Hey mate, thanks for sharing your experience. In all honesty the F20 from as a whole is a much better mask but for those few that are really struggling with the mask seal aspect of the therapy i think the Mirage Quattro is certainly great for those extremely high cpap pressures that most mask struggle with. Glad you're enjoying your F20 . Have a great day!

I’ve used this mask for the past 13 years and love it. One thing I don’t like is the force of the air as it exhausts from the front of the mask, and my wife doesn’t like the constant blast of cold air she receives as a result. I recently changed to the f20 which has a much better exhaust diffusion system and the benefit of a happy wife 🙂

I used a AirFit F20 when I started and it worked well for my lower pressure CPAP, but then I was switched to a BIPAP machine and the F20 mask threatened to blow off my face and I couldn't get a good seal. I switched to an AirTouch F20 mask and it seems to have done the trick. Is this a better mask, IYO, than the AirTouch F20? I also have a goatee and mustache and the seal was very hard to get there with the F20 AirFit.

i was prescribed the airfit f-30 but at 15 setting (reduced from 20 to address leakage.... my doctor said leaks were unacceptable and wanted to....yes,.... increase pressure. i already had it way too tight to be comfortable. so back to my old full face mirage quattro. when i had my sleep study done they used the airfit f30 i was currently using (my old cpap machine did not show leaks or "events" to me or remotely-my new cpap did. the tech stopped short (barely) of putting his foot on the back of my neck when he tightened it- he could have worked for dr. mengele, nqa ...absolutely unbearable. slept a few minutes all night, if that...although he claimed i did. all masks have the same basic flaw...they PULL the mask down. i now use a common elastic bandage like you would wrap a knee injury with which i wrap OVER the mask and around my head which PUSHES the mask down ...way better. it goes around my head 3 times, 2 times over the mask and the 3rd over hose to hold it up straight. since this, my cpap says "your mask fit was great" almost every night. the bandage is porous which still allows air to exit mask. it is still uncomfortable and leaves marks on my face, but at least it is tolerable now and the leaks are under control. i have a short beard.

Such a timely review. I have been using my current Quattro for the last ten years or so, and am still using the original cushion and head strap. Have restitched the velcro on the head strap, but finally, it's time for a replacement. I bought the Airtfit F30i in July but have gone back to the Quattro because being a side sleeper the Airfit constantly leaked ( despite the sales blurb) no matter how much adjustment I made, plus it gave me sore nostrils and dry eye with the leaks. Besides going back to the Quattro again, would you have any other recommendations? Cheers, John

Hi John, i love this soo much mate but i think after 10 years it might be time to treat yourself to a new cushion and strap haha :-). Great to hear your comparison with the F30i also. The F10 and F20 both have good seals also and they will be a lot lighter on the face. If you're getting Air leaks into your eyes you probably need a forehead support some maybe the Quattro Air might also be worth checking out. The F30i and F30 are great but yes the seal can be a bit hit and miss. If i had to choose one for you i would probably go the Quattro Air. Cheers mate

Thank you, very timely. I have reverted to my Fx version which is so reliable that I am reluctant to go back to my Mini for its sophisticated mask monitoring. I'm wondering why there is so much bypass air with the Quattro compared to some of the dinky masks? The head strapping of this new one makes sense to me after the nasty mask that came with the Mini. You know, the nose bridge damage than happened nightly. I have my current old Fx set so that there is no leakage even though it does not have the elaborate head straps, it just slips on and off like a bought one. Got to use my mini on its battery soon just to give the Lithium cells their 6 monthly recycle. It is essential for nights without mains power. Look for to trying the New Quattro soon. Again ... Ta.

Hi Robert, I would be recommending a 'top of the head' connection mask like the ResMed N30i or P30i or the dreamwear range from Philips Respironics. Don't be concerned with your mask leak unless 1. It's annoying you and waking you up. 2. You're struggling to get your sleep apnea index (AHI) under control. If you are wanting to perhaps try a nasal variety you could try the DreamWisp from Philips which is a Nasal mask with the top of the head connection. All the best. Nick

Do you have any thoughts on the Mirage Liberty Full Face Mask for high pressure? I currently use a F30 which is nice and comfortable but I think with my pressures 19/17 unless everything is perfect it leaks terribly. I am really trying to find a mask that does 2 things. First is seal properly without moving to something like the Mirage. Second which is also important the exhaust not blowing cold air in my eyes. I have actually glued a piece of plexiglass to my F30 so the air from the elbow doesn't go in my eyes as I wake up with serious migraines. I've tried eye masks but they don't seal well enough.

Unfortunately, the straps on ResMed’s Mirage FX and Quatro Air are GARBAGE. With 12+ years CPAP usage, these harness straps need replacing after just six months. Why? Because (1) the loop-side fabric sheds to non-adherence AND (2) the straps lose their modest elasticity. Plus the two Velcro strips are too damn short - sometimes pulls apart when turning over. I’m fed-up and finally seeking alternative head gear.

I tried the Airfit and it is so light weight that the seal becomes ineffective in under a month. Basically, it feels like a tinfoil version of this great mask.

Hi there, you should only need to replace the cushion once maybe twice a year and you should be able to pick them up for around $60-$80 which is very reasonable for something that you use every night. Cheers

Hi Kirsten, first i would watch my vid on fine tuning your cpap pressure - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pn2XlpqtedepmMk and then i would also watch the mask sores vid - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJ3GgHR5jr6ebck which talks about CPAP Mask liners etc. You could also consider trying a new style cpap mask kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIi2hKyooLeZj6s . Let me know how you go!

@@naturewoman1274 If you have this mask, you could try making a mask liner. Takes about 10 minutes if you have an old t-shirt lying around: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJq5pGeelrKHn6M

I hate this mask with a passion. Horrible seal but I have a very pointed nose. And it sticks out a long way. Also struggling with a sore on the bridge of my nose.

I'm a new subscriber, struggling to help my husband who probably has both OSA and central. He's a mouth breather, having had nasal cancer (yes i'll probably bring a lawsuit against Philips and see what happens) luckily he survived a 10 hour surgery and i'm trying to get him back to using his CPAP. He had a sleep study and they found difficulty determining optimal pressure so set it at 11 for now. He's tried a few different masks, i cannot understand at all why his AHI's are so high (above 20, without therapy they're at 68) even with a good mask fit according to the software. I am wondering if THIS IS the next mask we should try? he's used hybrids (full face) and recently i think a Resmed F 20 i think. NOT WORKING. I am so very discouraged and feel like he survived this cancer only to have his therapy struggle this badly, I am having a very hard time getting him to use it more than 4 hours a night and it's causing me a lot of emotional pain. OH he's also going back in for another study for BIPAP, i am hoping he gets a new machine. Thank you for your channel and information.

Hey Susie, i was going to recommend he consider trying a BiPAP. It could be central / mixed apnea that might be causing that high AHI. I think he will have a lot more success on bipap. All the best mate :-). Nicko

Amazingly I have been using this mask for the last 6 months and I absolutely hate it. The vent at the front is loud and releases a lot of air, no matter what position I set the forehead adjustment to I get air leaks under my eyes, the O2 connection at the bottom has a plug that falls out and had to be glued in to prevent complete pressure loss in the middle of the night. I hate this mask. Been using cpap for about 7 years and have used many masks and this is the worst Ive used.
