Thanks for this video Nick. I do have an awful time with my masks, however, I get skin irritation not only from the mask, but the mask straps. I'm currently using, and loving, my Dreamwisp mask. I don't have, currently, any issues with the nasal part of the mask, as long as I clean it everyday, usually at night, before I go to bed. I do get several spots on the headgear itself, where it can rub my skin and irritate it. My solution has been, using the small strap liners that come with it, in the spots I get irritated. I also have and have used a Dreamwear mask, and as I no longer use that mask, I have 'confiscated' (lol!) the strap liners from that as well, and use them on the Dreamwisp mask. So far, so good. I just hate that in order to get full headgear strap liners, we have to buy from the USA. And there is only 1 place. The woman who owns, and makes all of the strap liners, has a hard time keeping up with all of the new styles that come out though. I wish there was a company here in Oz who made them as well. The company is called Pad-a-Cheek. Or if you just google padacheek, she should come up. Her name is Karen Moore. Thanks again for the wonderful videos and I hope you and your family had wonderful holidays. :)

Nick, I like the Nextcare tape a lot for covering my mouth at night. Most of the time it’s easy to tear so you don’t have to cut it. It’s narrower than other tapes so I just use two strips, and it comes off more easily than some others. it seems porous, but I don’t find any air leaking out of my mouth.

For those that have nostril irritation problems with a nose pillow. I think I have found a solution. Been trying it for a few days now with no irritation. I've been using FESS Nasal Gel & FESS Dry Nose Relief spray. Both each morning and the gel only before sleeping. Follow the product instructions, you don't have to use a lot. I let my nostrils heal with the treatment first before using the machine, and my nose is still perfect.

G’day Nick, nice shout out! What do you recommended for irritation of the nostrils with nasal pillows?
@CPAPReviews3 жыл бұрын
G'day Terry, there's not much on offer to protect the nostrils so your best bet is to look at some masks that are designed to help with that issue. A few to have a look at include. 1. Philips Nuance nasal pillow mask - has soft gel pillows that have a lower profile and are softer on the nostrils. 2. Philips Dreamwear Gel - Also has the gel pillows You might also want to consider a nasal cradle type mask that doesn't actually enter the nostrils. 1. Fisher paykel Evora 2. Resmed N30i or N30 3. Philips Dreamwear nasal Cheers mate Nick

Nick, I am a new CPAP user and I have tried F&P Vitera and now using F&P Evora neither seems to work without me tightening the strap. Then my skin breaks down and creates sores. My irritation is on the sides of my nose. When I fix it to where there is no pain and irrigation I get leaks that are not therapeutic.

Hi Olivia, welcome to the channel. If you have any type or sores or break outs and cpap therapy is making it hurt or causing you discomfort then i would recommend just not using it whilst your skin recovers. Just think about how many years you haven't slept with it and you're still here so a couple more days won't hurt. Glad to hear you finally received it! Hi there, thanks for the comment. I would suggest letting the sore heal over. You will probably find the skin is more resilient after it and you can probably still use the same mask. Kind of like a blister with a pair of new shoes etc. The skin will adapt but if it doesn't then you might need to look at a different mask style :-). Hi there, yep just make sure you have the humidifier turned up and also make sure you preheat the water before use so that you get humidification the instant you start using the therapy. On top of this, if you are using a nasal mask there's a potential that you are mouth breathing at some stages during the night so you might want to try some somnifix mouth straps - bit.ly/2HV1Sdb which will help keep your mouth from opening of a night. Let me know how you get on. Cheers Nick

Thank you for this video. I am running for the first Aid kit. I know there should be 3m tape in there. My face is so raw from my nasal mask. I, indeed skipped my therapy last night. This is only my second week of therapy. I switched to a climate hose and my throat is still dry. My throat is so sore this morning, I'm dreading putting the mask on right now. I switched to a climate hose on day three and my throat is still dry when I wake up. I also have insomnia. I wear the mask without falling to sleep. When I yawn it feels like someone karate chopped me in my throat. Any advice on preventing this sensation?

Hi Cheryl, are you using the resmed Airsense 10? If you are then check out my video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIK7hGqCqslor9U at around the 2:00 mark. You want to change your climate control settings from AUTO to MANUAL and then increase the humidifier level to max. You also want to preheat the humidifier water before using the therapy so that you get humidification the moment you start using it instead of waiting 30-60 minutes for the water to turn to vapour. Let me know how you get on. Cheers Nick

I tried many versions of the gecko pad including the expensive Boomerang and I also tried Band-Aids and all of those products you are showing here and none of these worked for more than an hour or two for me. I found that using one of those blue cpap strap protectors that sell on Amazon, and many other places work100% they not only stopped my sore from hurting but also helped it to dry up and heal. As for those pillows my doctor told me to stay away from those because there made by people who know little to nothing about the human spine and these pillows cause spinal misalignment and that will cause back and neck pain. I only wish he told me about them before I shelled out $110.00 U.S. for one it hurt my neck like hell. sorry to report some bad news.
