Excellent little watch. It's designed exactly like a dirty dozen homage should be designed. The lumed second hand is a nice touch. Not even the brand name or the font used look too much out of place. The crystal could use a little AR coating.

I love small seconds on a watch, so this is the best Baltany for me. Merkur is releasing some small seconds dirty dozens too, but i believe the baltany has a better movement. A seagull vs the modified Tongji in the Merkur.

Yeah the Seagull is definitely the better movement out of those two.

I own the champagne dial or is it what they call textured beige hard to tell but one thing I do it’s fantastic for the price, I do own two Breitlings and a Rolex Sub so this is my fourth for my collection and I absolutely love it.

Specifically it's homaging the JLC variant with the cathedral hand set - a good original is thousands these days, when money does nowt in the bank.

no doubt, this watch quality is very solid, the finishing is great, the lume is amazing and the price is very affordable, for those who want to buy this clock there is one issue , the movement st17 inside has a little problem, mine has one of the screw loose, so if you already have the watch, make sure to open the caseback then tighten the screw on the movement

I own the quartz version (for its more timeless pencil hands but also everyday practicality) and it totally looks and feels like a grown-up quality watch - actually better than my Seiko SRPG. I don't consider it a true to original facsimile but certainly a decent and very handsome recreation. The Seagull version seems a tad expensive compared to other Chinese autos. If now they could only come up with a Mark 11…

Baltany do make some really nice field watches. I've reviewed a few of them now.

@Yusuf Best I had a brief look into the MWC. So we have:
 - more harmonious dial layout (less cramped albeit overly large numerals, branding) - authentic plexi crystal - basic Chinese movement - mere 5 bar water resistance - generic crown, presumably non screw-down - fixed strap bars (so no leather straps) - pencil vs. cathedral hands (auto version) - unlumed seconds hand (more faithful yet less practical) - MWC notorious for early quality issues but apparently fixed - EUR 246 vs. EUR 180
 (auto version) Considering the MWC isn’t substantially more faithful to the originals look I’d probably go for the much more practical and affordable Baltany, but that’s just me.

Interestingly...I have actually preferred plexiglass crystal on a retro homage like this..... Unless they were to add several coats of good clay anti-reflective coating... Never see that on inexpensive watches though...... The reflection really changes the retro feel of the watch. It is nice to see this size and design.

I get that, but I personally prefer sapphire, as I hat getting any scratches on the crystals.

Based on Baltany's website, that model is not the D12 (S2019) but the more expensive S2025. They look very similar though.

Great review. Looks nice, but just missed the mark for me. In my opinion it’s too thick, slim it down maybe by using a hand wind only movement. Use all the same color lume, one or the other. They could even offer your choice of vintage lume dial or white. Did you mention the price?

Thanks. Yeah that would be good. But I think it wears well still. I don't mention the price for AliExpress watches, as they can fluctuate quite a lot. But I always put the link in the description, so you can check it there.

must be the best WWW homage watch I have seen, very close to my mates Lemania WWW. Think I would polish the case a bit tough and add a better strap, but for the price its a good one

Nice review, but I wish you would comment more on the movement. Other reviewers have noted very poor accuracy, like plus 45 seconds a day. How is yours running?

This coming Monday I will have had my DD homage watch on my wrist for 4 straight weeks, running continuously. Other than setting the time when I started it up, I have not adjusted the time. This is what I notice about my ST 1701 movement: it's spot on when I wear it during the day. if I hand wind it (to up the reserve, say) it will tend to run fast, ~ 5-10 secs faster during the day, which I then mitigate by resting it crown up at night, which does make it run slower. So I can pretty accurately regulate this watch between the above conditions by doing whatever makes the watch run fast or slow each evening. Beyond accuracy, though, this is a very nice watch and well made.

This is $150 and Militado D12 is $50 which one do you think I should buy one? it looks same and just the different is automatic and quartz

I haven't checked out the Militado, but I guess it comes down to whether you want an automatic or a quartz really.

I have had to send mine back to the factory to be fixed under warranty. It suddenly started to lose several minutes a day. I suspect that the hands are not engaging properly after setting the time and are slipping somehow, because the timegrapher app that I have on my phone reported that it was only losing 4 seconds a day. On one occasion it had lost 5 minutes within 2 hours of winding and setting it.

I have 2 other Baltany watches, the Bubbleback auto and W10 homage, both with Seiko movement and both still working well. I sent mine back to the factory in China about a week and a half ago, Lord knows when I will see it again. As long as it comes back fixed I will be happy.

last week I had the minute hand fall off when I dropped the watch. Not a hard fall mind you, as the small seconds hand was still running, but instead of sending it back to China, I just took it to my local watch repair shop and had it pressed back on. Unlike "normal" watch hands, the minute hand is just pressed onto the pinion like a cap, instead of onto in w/ a hole. Just be careful with your Baltanys and don't drop them.

@@nplus1watches35 That's interesting to know. At least I am not the only one to experience a problem with the hands on this watch. I have never dropped mine. The only thing I can think of that may have loosened the hands enough to make them slip (if indeed that is what is happening) is that I have worn the watch while riding my old BSA motorcycle. The vibrations through the handlebars could have been enough to cause this problem. Still waiting for it to return from the factory.

Dang. I was gonna buy it but it has a seagull movement. I had about 4 watches with seagull movements and they all develop problems within 6 months. Can they put at least a Miyota automatic in there?

It’s a okay watch, but having spent a good amount of time in the US Army, I personally don’t find much joy in any of the Homage watch’s, having had so many military watch’s that were just given to us, great review, just not for me, thanks for your honest review

@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Definitely an odd one. Regarding the watch, I love it! I'm a sucker for small seconds, and being an homage to the Dirty Dozen just makes it even sweeter. Put it on a khaki canvas strap and it'd fit right in with WW2 re-enactments.
