Things are finally starting to feel better in the circle for discus. I fix up my discus entry and go over reversing to answer some questions I've seen on recent videos

I'm a sophomore at khs and been watching your vids for a while and since I don't have a coach I'm really trying to go through the throw amd talk to my self kinda like you do when your talking to the camera and I threw 193 feet today and have districts tomorrow so thx for making the videos keep it up !

Holy shit. 193 is at least 40' further than I've ever seen anyone throw in 6 years of highschool meets. Doing that without a coach is really an insane accomplishment.

I have a big meet coming up Saturday. It will be a day-long meet so I would appreciate suggestions on how to stay hydrated and not hungry without filling up on food.

so the big things for meets for me is eat a big breakfast with good food, nothing unusual to your regular diet just make sure you're fed, then when i can eat lunch if I'm hungry i try to eat. if i don't eat when I'm hungry then sometimes adrenaline kicks in and i don't get hungry so i try to eat good food when i can. other than that bring some protein bars and snacks if you just need something between events or before competition if you didn't eat lunch or something. for hydration buy a big gallon jug of water and drink it all day I always throw best when i drink around 500ml between rounds especially on hot days. and if it ends up being really hot I like to take a towel and pour some water on it and put it around my neck/on my head. just stay out of the sun when you can and don't stand up all day so your legs don't get tired. good luck man throw some bombs!

Hi JY, I placed 3rd in the shot with 17.09 throw but got shut out of discus even with my PR of 43.69. Psyched myself out more than anything else. Now on to the next meet at Furman in June. Thanks for the advice and keep the clips coming. They're motivational and instructive.

I was also wondering what is your height and weight ? I’m 6’1 and coming in at 240 launching the disc about 160’ average at my senior year , but I’m wondering how far I can really toss it ?

My abs are visible but not shredded , and I’m implementing slot of points you have been emphasizing in your videos I’ve added a solid 20 feet to my throw

I'm 6'8" 300lbs and I would say a lot comes down to release speed and efficiency of technique. Tough to say what you can do without seeing your throws

Great video man out of curiosity what were you throwing in 9th grade if you didn’t throw that’s okay. My PB is 106.7

In Canada we threw the 1k disc in 9th and 10th grade. 9th grade I threw around 175' and 10th I threw around 230'

Life of JY I rarely throw the 1k but when I threw it it probably went 170+
