Something I found amusing I wanted to share. I sent you one of the NY plates RIP CWC. I placed my order with the person who made them and a few minutes later I got an email from them, who had a proof for me to approve, an they asked if I could share with them what or who CWC was, that they had been bombarded with tons of orders saying similar or the exact same thing! I explained that there were a bunch of chickens on youtube that lived at New York City - but one died and that CWC was missed very much by youtube fans. I got a response back that said something to the effect that "people watch chickens from new York city on youtube? - it cracked me up because I had to explain the channel and send a link for them to understand. I found it quite comical.

My girls wanted me to convey for them how much they LOVED the humor you added into this video and want your family to keep inserting that. 😆 Generally we’re HOOKED on watching your episodes every day they’re available and just watching your family’s daily routine has encouraged me to put more work into maintaining our suburban home like weeding. We’re subject to a home owner’s association, but I’m inspired to start a garden this year and I want to look into supporting our local farms more. Not the homesteading lifestyle, but as close as I can get to it in the city.

When I’m looking to build a dust collection system and find your video 3rd from the top 👌 priceless. I also read the description in this video I never knew that about you so I thought I’d share a second about my self, when I turned 23 I started expecting anxiety to the extreme and eventually started having full blown attacks for no reason at all. I had to change my entire life because of them I had to quit my regular 9 to 5 and drive for Lyft and Uber just Incase I felt an attack coming or had to instantly go home. This set me back for about 3 years 🤦‍♂️. Now I haven’t started posting anything yet but I also film I’ve tried many times but it was hard to gain a following so gave up. During the pandemic I’m taking this time to start my own company manufacturing butcher block counter tops out of my home garage. I was considering building a building for a shop but I thought I’d acquire more expensive tools than a big building at least starting. I love your channel and thought I’d reach out and share just a small sample about the content I’ll be producing here soon. And lastly thanks for the dust collection idea

Hello homesteaders,Just watched your dust collector video and I have a suggestion.Install a bare heavy gauge side inside the hose from the attachment and all the way back to the collector bucket then ground that end of side with a screw.IMPORTANT . Static electricity is generated when the vacuums run,you will understand why it's important right after your first shock. I enjoy your trials and tribulations Super Dave in Wi.

Yay, i suggested the Dustopper to you last week. You won't regret that choice. FYI, my Craftsman 12 gallon vac I use shares the features of your rigid, including the ability to add the pvc legs to the caster arms. Figured I'd share that for people like myself that don't have a Home Depot nearby. (We have Menards and Lowes in our area).

@@LumnahAcres Right. I bought mine a year or two ago at an actual Sears Hometown store. Ours has since closed, along with the Sears at the malls and Kmarts around here. Our Ace hardware sells Craftsman too, but I've not looked at the vacs there, either, due to not needing one. Another suggestion, if you do a dust collection system, I used 2in pvc as ductwork, with Tees. I added blast gates to mine, and reduced down to 1 1/2 cut-to-use vac hose for flexibility. I also added an extra one with pvc going down to the floor with a "sweep", where you can just sweep the floor to it and it sucks up the dust and dirt. KZbin and Pinterest have info on them, and I'm more than happy to share my knowledge, for what it's worth. Enjoy your videos, never miss one. Thanks for letting us in your world.

The DIY dust collection system I've liked on youtube has a big PVC pipe with Blast Gates all along with short lengths of flex hose at the stationary tools and a couple gates with long flex tubes for floor or table. If you just friction fit the short hoses to your miter & table saws you can shut the blast gates to the short hoses then swap in the long hose to move the saws into the middle of the shop.

It just dawned on me the other day watching, that your cat and older dog are named after Mickey & Minnie Mouses pets. When I pointed it out to my 2.5yo great nephew, a big Mickey Clubhouse fan; he told me he knew that already. So much for my power of observation. My nephew will be 3yo on ❤ day and his brother 2yo about a month later. They are fascinated by the chickens and goats. A family friend has chickens and is expecting to hatch chicks next weekend, so their looking forward to it. The 3yo wants his own coop with chickens and ducks🐓🦆

Great dust collector. The primary feature of the cyclone is that the big chunks you suck up will stay in the bucket and not get run thru the impeller of the shop vac. There will be fine dust in the canister of the vac so check and empty periodically. Today’s Lumnah LOL was when Gina’s helper magically appeared to eat, er I mean, cut the broccoli 🥦. Good stuff, as always. 😎👍👏

I recently bought a Dustopper from HD to use in my wood shop and was trying to figure out a way to stack it on top of my shop vac. You solved my problem. Thank you. Oh, and my Dustopper works great. Also, I bought a 20’ 2 1/2” vacuum hose made by Craftsman from ACE Hardware. With that and the hose that came with it and an extra 6’ extension I had purchased when I bought my vac gives me 32’ of hose which allows my vac system to stay stationary. Love your channel and I look forward to each one. Thank you and God bless.

When I had my dust system I installed a length of ABS (PVC will work) to the wall with "tees" every few feet. The tees had caps so I could remove the cap and hook a short hose from the tool to the tee. Then just hooked the shop vac to one end or the other of the ABS. With all the other caps in place there should be no vacuum problem.

Definitely not a stir fry. I make stir fry all the time and it’s just like the name implies, you fry the meat in the oil, add the veggies and stir while it is frying because you don’t want it to brown too much, then add the sauce and let simmer for about five minutes and serve over steamed rice. I have traveled extensively through Asia and watched many Asian chefs stir fry. Oh, I use a wok and you need it good and hot so the food cooks very quickly but not too much, should still have a little crunch to it.

Great Video! Kept me in suspense wondering how was this going to be a dust collector. Turned out great man. To answer your question about how to collect dust off the saw table I would say see where dust collects. Plumb tubing to those locations. Mount a bulkhead connection to the saw where it makes sense to connect the vacuum to. You could probably cut a hole under the table saw and drop in a bucket or a bag. Use a 15/20 Amp 3-Way Switch to power an outlet to plug the vacuum into, like a hallway light but use an outlet in place of the light. Having 2 switches to control the vacuum will place the switch in front of each machine. Do an Image Search for "Dust Collection Fittings" to get ideas. You could make an inverted pyramid funnel to collect dust under the table saw and connect to your vacuum system. Didn't realize pressure treated lumber's saw dust had health risk, make sense.

Would be interesting to see how much dust actually made it on through into the filter and main Vac tank...

Wow talk about coincidence, I was watching a video of a compact dust collection system. And then a few hours later your video posted and guess what. The exact same design. It kind of freaked me out that I would randomly watch a video from someone I am not subscribed to. And then see the same build style a few hours later from a channel I am subscribed to. I guess this means this is the style that fate wants me to build.

With that pile of snow by the fence Tanner could completely jump right over, but he doesn't realize it.

Picking up sawdust really sucks. Now, you can do it with style. Had a thought; there are hose clips you can get to secure waste pipes behind washing machines. Could you attach a couple of these to the edge of your work bench in just the right spot to clip the vacuum hose to suck up the sawdust as you work?

Another thing you could use the sawdust for is to make compressed firewood logs.

I like your dust collection system. I have something similar. I still have to clean the ShopVac dust collection out every so often. Do you have to disassemble your rig to clean out your vacuum?

Something to consider for later on- if you ever get a metal-cutting bandsaw or other metalworking tools, you wont be able to use your dust collection system with it, if its used in an animal pen or compost heap. I make pens, so i ofen have plastic in with the sawdust. We use our dust collection in the perennial flower beds.

Hey Al, give these guys a look. they have all kinds of stuff for dust collection. i work at a university in central florida and have installed 2 full system in the past 2 years and made them all automatic so that when a student turn on the first piece of equipment the blower/vac motor turns on and then shuts off about 30 seconds after the last piece of equipment shuts off to be sure all of the dust clears the ductwork before shutting the blower/vac motor off. enjoy the snow because we don't want it down here. jim in central florida
