It's interesting to see how many larger manufacturers are going dual-driver, and often sealed, for their largest subs. Perlisten, M&K, Arendal, DefTech, etc. Sure you'll still get better efficiency with a large, ported box, but it really seems that the high-end market has shifted to high-displacement sealed with plenty of power

It’s all about form factor and aesthetics. 1 - 2 large ported boxes, or 4 - 8 smaller sealed boxes. Pick your poison. Probably a couple small sealed boxes is enough for the large majority of people.

M&K is a favourite in the custom installation side of the business - somewhat similar to Triad. Look for custom installers in your area.

For the uninitiated, this enclosure design that M&K are famous for employing, is just a straightforward sealed enclosure. The format may look like it's employing a clever technology developed by M&K, but anyone can build one of these. Just reverse-mount one driver and wire it out-of-phase. That's it. Nothing more. Apply some DSP equalisation to boost the low end and you'll have the same product.

And like I hinted, for those who don’t understand how loudspeaker enclosures work, it does look like there’s some special technological trickery that allows this M&K design to deliver superior results to other dual driver, sealed enclosures. But there’s not. All this design claims to do is to equalise any differences in driver linearity. However, in a subwoofer design and with quality drivers like are used here, I’d wager no one could tell the difference in a blind A-B comparison.

I don't think they were trying any trickery... its just a non isobaric push pull. Solid design that delivers great results.

For $6000 you can get 4 Tone winner SW-D6000, one in each corner for a more even bass response.

It would be amazing. 15" drivers. and an 18" version. Sealed so not all of the guts inside to deal with. If they could shave some weight off and keep it reasonably light. It would be a winner.

The perlisten is good but way overpriced for the performance you get. You are in funk audio territory with that price. The funk will walk all over the perlisten in sq, compression, distortion and build quality. Spl will be way way higher on the funk as well

I don't see the point of this driver configuration. Make the cabinet 3 inches taller and you can have both drivers aiming in the same direction.

@@brucecarter6205 What is meant by push pull? I had assumed that the top driver is *pushing* out, and the bottom driver is *pulling* out (wired in reverse polarity). If the bottom driver were in phase with the top driver then that would make this an isobaric configuration (constant pressure in the box), wouldn't it? But early in the video he says that it's "non-isobaric."

They both move in the same direction but the bottom is pointing at the first. Its non isobaric because both subs are exposed to the room. An isobaric sub has 1 sub completely inside the box.

SQ is exceptional but vastly inefficient. That's why nobody's done it in decades, DIY or commercially. They're just recycling & repackaging something that was thought to be next level in the 80s & targeting this new wave of home cinema enthusiasts that don't know no better. Look at all the other audio communities whether that be audiophiles, live sound, DJs, car audio...if this enclosure had any real benefits vs multi sub cabinets then why aren't any of those guys using it? True push/pull configs are Isobaric & they're just using "loopholes" to label it as such. How 'bout one of y'all reviewers mic the motor? Oh I know, it's because the suspension noise exposes what a fail this config is.

So not worth 6k if that price is correct...mabey 500 bucks on material cost if made by diy...anything more than 800 for this is def price gouging from the company...hence why they dnt have advertising for it and having installers push their product...to sell to the non informed...thees ego driven companies dnt last too long b4 switching up thier name...especially hyping up an encloser design thats been around since the 70s...looks good...sounds good...but this is aimed at rich folk to brag about how much money they have spent on sumthing so meaningless...like do you want a applause for overpaying for somthing so simple?...

The concept seems simple but there is more going on with the amp that would make a diy fall well short of the desired effect. I have 2 of the old mx 150 dual 12's it does a lot with a 150 watts and very simple driver design. It's a shame the next step up from the old ones is quite a bit of cash. If the 12 was 3k and the 15 was 4k I could bring myself to start setting aside an earth moving fund... and a swear jar😂

How is it a push/pull but not isobaric? That's an oxymoron. Just a bunch of marketing mumbo jumbo. The cones move in opposite directions relative to their respective motors. Of course since they're wired with reverse polarity they still move in the same direction with respect to the cabinet interior.

Isobaric config has 1 sub not exposed to room air (totally inside the box). The M&K design exposes both subs to the outside. Thats why it’s not isobaric. Different design.

Thing is awesome 👍😎 No doubt. At 6k each though ouch 🤕😳. I listened to Enya back when it was new. I wonder if you could build your own in an experiment. Two 18" though. 👍😳

There is a double 18 kit from GSG, but its not designed for push pull. I love this sub because while large, its not sooooo heavy. And the output is great. As I said, If I could I would roll out 4 of these and be completely happy.
