Love the review. I've been on mine for a few months now. One thing is not here in the review or website and wrong on the amazon link and missing from the Hover-1 website. It weighs much more than the claimed 31 lbs. It is a 44.8 lb scooter still good range, speed, and specs for the price. But it is a lot heavier than I was expecting to lug up 5 stories worth of stairs, still doable though.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Жыл бұрын
We weighed it at 45.2lbs (1 minute 7 seconds into the video the stat is on the left). Oddly the Hover 2.0 has a claimed weight of 36lbs and we weighed it at 31.6 lbs, so that one is lighter than spec! -Paul kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqTQhqCgbcSKqpYsi=3721L4KpEGi6VPba&t=67

Would like to see you review the Hover-1 Renegade which looks very similar but has a claimed 900w dual motor with a 54V/11.6Ah (626 Wh) battery vs the 36V/13.2Ah (475 Wh) on the Journey Max. The Renegade is currently on sale for less than the Journey Max on the Hover website. Difference in weight between the two scooters is only 1.53 lbs.

How would you compare the Hover-1 Journey Max to the Hover-1 Renegade? The Renegade has Dual 450W Motors (so I would think it would be even better for hills, which is crucial for me). So I’m planning to buy this scooter. Your review on this was pretty helpful as always:) .But I’m a bit confused on few things 1): is there any way to know the batch version ? Should I just mail hover team and ask ? My friend got this like 2 weeks ago and it didn’t seem to have zero start. 2) is the breaking system a concern or rather, an inconvenience? Does the new batch solves this ? 3)pneumatic tires - this is a bit general question but the what stuff do I need to invest into to maintain the pneumatic tires ? Do I need a pump and a psi checker ? How often would I need to check the tire pressure, is it okay if I would not do it for like a month or 2 and just go to a nearby cycle shop? 4) is there an updated review coming? Lastly I appreciate you making this videos, thanks :)
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide10 ай бұрын
Great questions! Unfortunately there isn’t a way that I know of to identify which ones are the new ones. I think the new firmware hasn’t hit yet though. The braking system is a matter of taste. They’re still plenty strong. If you like to ease into braking long before a stop light then you’ll notice it. If you like to wait and stop all at once, you may not noticed the difference. I do a little update in the Hover-1 Journey 2.0 review at about 4:20 into the clip below. For tire maintenance, the most important thing is to air up at least once a week. Scooter tires don’t hold much air, so a small change in volume = a big change in pressure. It eliminates half of the flats if you keep your pressure up. You can also pre-install Armor Dilloz tire sealant. If you do get a flat, it’s a bit of an ordeal on any scooter to get the wheels off. Getting the tires off and on is much like a bicycle though, and some bicycle shops may be willing to take it on. -Paul kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWa4eGVqit9rapYsi=uVl60dr7ApEawb0W

So glad you like the video! Performance wise the Journey Max destroys the KQi2 with about 4 more miles of range, 4 more mph top speed and a 0 to 15 time of 4.1 seconds vs the KQi2 Pros 7.6 seconds. Similarly with the hill climb test the Journey Max gets up our hill in 12.4 seconds vs the Niu’s 20.3 That said, NIU has a longer warranty and nicer build quality, but you’re more likely to “out grow” the performance of the KQi2 pro sooner. @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide that would be a huge bummer. Just seems like a firmware update, will be a no go if they don't offer updates. I'll have to return this one and get something with proper support. I love it aside from that, if I could just tune the regen breaking, disable cruse and push to start it would be great. It's got the best specs on the market for the price, if they could only offer minor updates they would crush it. I work as an Amazon delivery driver and drive the rivian edv, got this to help with private driveways that are too small for my huge edv along with apartments. The cruse control feels sketchy, when it turns on just before u plan to slow down and u keep going, it's a lil unsafe. It's insane to me that that's set by default and there's no way to turn it off. Im sure I could adjust to it but I feel like it's not tuned well.

This is a ton of scooter for the price, just imagine if it was made by Segway it would be almost 3x as much $$$ just because of the Segway name. The acceleration is nice, I love my WKGTP, but it's huge, this would make a nice and cheap alternative when I don't feel like breaking out the Kaabo. I'll wait 5-6 months to see how these hold up for people and might go pick one up. And if I've learned anything on Reddit, there's gonna be a top secret speed limiter wire, and if you cut it you'll unlock a top speed of 30mph. I'm kidding guys, don't go cutting wires if you buy this. And don't listen to people on Reddit who will tell you all you need to do is cut a wire and you'll get a massive speed boost. Also for people who've never rode a scooter, unless you're a daredevil 18-20mph's not bad at all. To me it feels faster than it is, my WK can go 60 and I usually putt around going maybe 30, a lot of time I'm cruising at 20-25.

This review really downplayed the lack of suspension of this scooter. As someone who owned this model and rode it in Oakland as well. Tried to ride it up to Merritt College which has a pretty comparable level of steepness as San Francisco streets and this was like riding on a shopping cart. And of course, it got a flat since it has tube tires. It absolutely has great acceleration with the dual motors, but the braking was still non linear depending on how fast you were traveling. This scooter is meant for warehouse smooth terrain unless you don't mind feeling like you've just operated a jackhammer for an hour after you finish riding. This review seemed to really make sure they technically didn't lie, while making sure they didn't upset the manufacturer. As someone who scooters in and through Oakland, I'm now questioning why they don't test the scooters locally rather than taking them to San Francisco where the riding is a bit more sanitized.

It’s a budget scooter and has lots of features for what you are paying for it.
@stevenogbuehi38466 ай бұрын
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide You could say that for a lot of products. This scooter has a great thumb throttle. It's the reason I chose the Apollo City Pro 2024 based on your review. This scooter has great acceleration and handles hills quite well ( I took it all around UCB). But all of that is negated if the riding experience is nearly unrideable due to the lack of suspension. And that is the major problem with this review. It highlights all these other features and totally downplayed how all those features are undone by the riding experience in normal areas such as streets, parking lots and sidewalks. This scooter is designed for riding in a warehouse or a grocery store with super smooth floors or maybe the freshest of paved roads. Even the painted markings in the streets cause significant bumps. I could even go on how its lack of water intrusion rating was upsold by down playing that no manufacturer of scooters warranties damage caused by water. Why on other scooter reviews is the water IP rating pushed as such a great feature?
@MoralHazard-g1e6 ай бұрын

I used to have the Hover 1 Renegade, but sold it after 8months as I also have the 23 Apollo city pro. For the price, it's a much better scooter than this journey max. Don't know why Hover 1 isn't pushing it, or why no reviewer has taken any interest in it. It has dual motors, rear suspension, turn signals, Bluetooth speakers, 8.5in wide deck with led deck lighting,cruise control, all for 399usd. As much as I like the Apollo city pro, the folding mechanism, kickstand and led front light are all inferior to the Renegade's, even though the Apollo is 3.5 times more expensive.
