I think the only reason Oil companies aren't ripping us off for $4 a gallon or more is because of electric cars. If the price goes up enough it'll drive sales of EV up. Battery tech just keeps getting better but I think it'll be another 10 to 20 years before EV takes over. Being able to drive anywhere and fill up in 2 minutes and drive on is a big advantage.

@@belacito 123 billion gallons of gas in 2020. 15 billion in Federal subsidies plus about 5 billion in state money for around 20 billion. A little arithmetic brings that out to just over 16 cents per gallon. Did you just pull that 5 bucks per gallon out of thin air?

For most things, but A/C units use 240V as do clothes dryers and electric ranges so circuit panels have 240V connections available. It'll mean running a 240V line to the garage if it doesn't already have one.

@@ninline2000 It’s an odd arrangement where the US is mainly 110 V domestic supply except for high load equipment. In Australia where I live we run 240 V exclusively for everything and for heavy duty equipment we use three phase power. Because we use a high voltage cables the wires can be thinner than if they were 110 V. However it’s all a legacy of history and when the US went in early with their power system they went with 110 V where if they had their time over again I’m sure they probably would’ve picked 240 V. One of the things of being an early adopter.

I don't know how I feel about the single pedal I'm confused is it just 1 pedal or can you break as you chose?
@easternpa2
@easternpa2 3 жыл бұрын
You just ease out of the accelerator to bring in braking under normal conditions. You can of course hit the brake pedal in emergencies or when the car isn't slowing itself down fast enough for you. It teaches you how to drive more calmly by accelerating and braking more evenly. I hardly ever touch the brake pedal in my 3.

Exactly what I needed to find out. I'm thinking all EVs are over 50K. Still have my 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 Limited pearl white in good condition, including paint and driving condition, 95k+ miles, so want a car to use as my main vehicle since Suzuki hit 20yrs old this past August. I like that Nissan Ariya. Ford's Evos in another videos, looks really good too. Think it's hybrid.

I have questions how much to replace motors and how is electric car cheaper then a gas car? Also I always wanted a telsa but what are the pro and cons?
@augsu
@augsu 2 жыл бұрын
The motors are pretty cheap about 4k to replace my Bolt motor. Charging at home is a thousand times better than having to fuel at a gas station. You don't even have to think about range until you've been driving for a couple of hours, and I don't mind stopping for 20 minutes every three hours on a road trip. Love the zero maintenance, 100k miles and literally no maintenance or repairs other than tires wipers and blinker fluid, just drive it and plug it in when you're done. After 100k electric miles there is no infernal combustion car in the world that I would trade mine for.

KIA, NISSAN and VOLKSWAGEN SEEM TO BE THE BEST OPTIONs. But I would still prefer a Hybrid such as a TOYOTA RAV4 for less money. Besides, a Hybrid gives you the best of both worlds and you never have to worry about running out of juice in the middle of nowhere. To sum up, it is still TOO EARLY TO GO FULL ELECTRIC!

US cant afford to pay for EVs like Europe, we are still paying our own health insurance. Apples and Oranges. Also the track record of the Auto industry with bad transmissions, and AFM results in my policy of driving 10 year old vehicles. I spend 2-3 grand per car every 3-4 years or so. Thats my limit. Save your money, you are going to need it in 2022

How do car frames become SUVs because they are electric? And when will global warming be strong enough to prevent 30% battery loss in the Colorado winter? With a chip shortage going on, was it a smart investment for so many car companies to grow there electrical offerings?
@Ruinwyn
@Ruinwyn 3 жыл бұрын
All of these are higher than basic cars. The batteries under the floor causes that. Also all these models have been styled to make them look smaller. I've seen some of them live, and they do look like SUV's. VW Id3 is clearly smaller and called a hatchback. Some might have lower ground clearance than you would expect from SUV.

@@eastexotic Not that a hybrid isn't awesome, but I think that those higher used car prices might have something to do with supply chain and semi-conductor shortages. Hooray for more EVs! The EV market just got better and good for the consumers as they have more choices and prices are also priced more reasonable. I've been a Tesla EV fan for a long time even though many ICE manufacturers did their best to thumb down disruptive technology EVs but now they're scared for their life as clean and green EVs are gaining popularity all over the world and soon ICE vehicles will be like dinosaurs. Many big car companies are now gearing up to produce and compete in the EV market as some seem to be waving the white flag and are now rushing to develop their own EVs. How well their product will succeed in popularity/sales will be a test in time as Tesla has a huge leap ahead of them but we'll see. But keep it coming so prices will go down as quality improves, that's when I buy one. Lol 😂

Where do you find charging stations in the coal region? I put on a lot of miles and it’s much easier getting gas in like 4-5 minutes compared to 54 minutes waiting for a charge. And I haven’t seen any charging stations around here. That’s ridiculous and still too expensive.
@ninline2000
@ninline2000 3 жыл бұрын
If you have to charge the car during the day then an EV isn't for you. It's really that simple. For someone that commutes and drives less than 150 or so miles a day then an EV can be great. Put a 240V charger in your garage and when you get home plug in your vehicle. It'll charge while you're sleeping and in the morning it's ready to go again. It will save thousands of dollars a year in gas for most people. Something like a Model 3 Tesla can operate for less than 4 cents a mile. If you want to go on a long trip then there are stations available but personally I'd keep a gas powered car for a while. In 10 years or so I suspect charger availability will be much better but it's sparse away from the big city.
