Love this BAM engine. For a living I've worked 27 years at a land rover main dealership for my sins, 95% diesel. Thoroughly enjoyed myself buying a 2003 225 for very cheap as spares or repairs. Learning a lot as I go and very impressed with this car and I think its starting to tug at my heartstrings. What a thing and bloody enjoyable to have and learn about.

It’s a great car, I’m sure compared to what your used to it’s a dream to work on, no body off jobs, no heavy components etc 😂. They have there weak points but plenty of documented repairs and easily sourced parts makes them a popular car for repairs. I love mine most of the time haha

I picked up a CTS 3inch turbo down pipe and had a custom 3 inch straight pipe built off of it... loud and growly and the turbo whistle coming through it is just so good. I love it. And only cost like 150 to have it built aside the down pipe lol

Fitted Malian to mine last week, cat back stock moter for now. It drones like crazy on cold start, warm idle and overrun. sounds sweet when you drive it hard but its defo not a subtle one. i mayby looking to change it for miltek pretty soon as 7am starts, icy mornings my neighborhood probebly hate me.

There great exhausts the fitter may have to tweak the right side tail pipe there are quite noisy at first but get some fuel through it an your sound

Should be getting a custom system made tomorrow if snows not to bad. UK PS. 1.8t 225 I had my resenator box removed and replaced with 3" stainless, standard back box, I would say very little or no difference in the car and only a little louder outside.

Very difficult to find an off the shelf exhaust for the 3.2 v6 that isn't a scorpion or supersprint, I intend to build my own custom exhaust in the summer. I'll keep you posted Dom.

I really like twin pipe dtm exhausts but i dont think they would suit the tt which sucks ive been looking at doing a cat back but they aint cheap shame they dont do a sportex exhaust for them for us with out deep pockets. Uk

Check out Cobra Sport exhausts, not sure if they do exhausts for the TT, but they are highly recommended in the 2.0 tfsi world. UK

Got a slight problem, when it was delivered its so low on ap coilovers(all the way down) they broke the flexi joint on the down pipe I need to remove it anyway as its got no mot at present. Hiya mate,love your videos! I have a MK1 225 coupe. I have a few questions if you don't mind? I'm looking for a cat back exhaust system, probably resonated, I'm 50 now and couldn't live with the cabin noise. I'm wanting a more free flowing system for some power gains. I will be fitting a Pipewerx 3" downpipe and sports cat so something to compliment this. I have narrowed it down to the Scorpion, Gravity or Malian,this is down to budget. Firstly a back box delete,will it be too noisy and will it pass an MOT ? The Scorpion resonated comes with a single back box. The Gravity offers two back boxes. Malian, I'm not sure. What is the better option regarding one or two back boxes ? Lastly,how do I know when you have replied to my questions ? I'm a bit of a tech dinosaur ! Many thanks in advance,Iain

Hey Iain, I’m regards to exhausts, out of your options there the scorpion will be the best of the 3, better build quality and nice sound with no drone. Gravity has a little drone and no personal experience with a Malian but they are similar cheaper built like the gravity. A pipewerx matched with a scorpion is what I had fitted to mine and it was perfect balance of noise and comfort

Looking at the prices I might be struggling to get the Scorpion one,so out the other two I'm torn,eBay has a special discount just now on the Gravity, you're getting it for about £280, can't complain at that,only thing is I think the discount will be finished by the time I'm in a position to purchase. With the Malian, I like how the tips aren't welded like the Gravity, I've been eyeing up some tasty looking 4" Akrapovic carbon tips. They are about the same price without discounts but the guy from Malian says they might be getting eBay discounted soon. Both would require cutting off the reducer piece as I think they are both 2.5" at the cat end for direct fit into the OEM cat pipe. I will need to buy a 3" sleeve piece for both whichever one I go for. Your thoughts please would be greatly appreciated. Also how do you go about buying Parrott Bros merchandise? Kind regards, Iain

@@iainlock3054 the pipewerx down pipe has a taper down to fit normal cat backs ( 2.75”) so you won’t need anything extra. Scorpion second hand exhausts come up quite often. I sold one a few weeks back for £280 It’s up to you, I think the new gravity and Malian exhaust is exactly the same looking at the pictures. I've had the Mallion and the gravity exhaust and even though they're the same price the gravity one fit spot on. I had to hack multiple chunks off the mallion and it still never fit properly so avoid that one at all costs.

Good video, Dom. I would caution people going for the cheaper exhausts purely because of ground clearance. Even on stock suspension some of the cheaper options have terrible clearance. On lowered suspension the cheaper ones tend to smack every speed bump you come across. You pays your money... :-)

I agree, you can see in the cheaper ones they do sit slightly lower even in the pics I’ve put up. I have seen one close up and they are snug to the subframe so just the way it goes from the rear box forwards 👌🏻

Hi. Expensive but: Supersprint. When I saw the rear exhaust and tips and learned that the first owner hasn't opted for the stupid ESP addon -which can actually be more dangerous by taking away the power you need to survive, I have bought the car literally without even testing it at the time.

@@TheParrottBros Hehe. The regular ESP on later model years was offered as an optional addon for free, for cars produced in the first few years had no such atrocities and were more fun to drive. I don't have a good mic and the phone wouldn't do it justice. İ had to add a proper cat in the middle because it was really loud. It doesn't have a prominent drone effect and sounds bassy. It's a big box.

I’m pretty new to car modding, I recently got a flow master 40 series on mine and it sounds a tad deeper and throatier, but I wonder if there are performance resonators that might give a more mild drone without shattering my ear drums on the day-to-day, do you have any advice or wisdom on that? Hey, for sub £300 there is loads of choice. See my other video for exhaust sounds that will give you an idea of different sounds and then you can decide what you prefer. Can get backbox deleted and tips changed for 1-200£ or can get cat back exhaust to change sound etc for sub 300.

i know this video is a bit older, but im running the 42DD downpipe and cat running into the stock muffler, and it sounds amazing. Its not super loud or droney while on the freeway. The install is a bit of a bitch, but if you remove the prop shaft, it goes in nice and easy without dropping the subframe. Highly Reccommend

exhausts for newer cars are far more expensive is quite a few of them are valved, have 2 pairs of cats etc, you will probably find it cheaper to go to an exhaust shop and get them to make you a custom one

Thanks for the video mate. I am in the process of thinking about switching exhausts. If possible, please do resonated vs non-resonated sound clips. Would be interesting to hear the difference in pitch. I am also wondering how a single large muffler sounds when compared to two smaller mufflers. Does the stock exhaust comes with one or two resonators? What would you do for a deeper sound?

Yeah i will do my best with what is sent in, usually its quite easy to tell the difference, stock exhaust has 1 res on a 225, exhausts are a mind field of sound as so many variations of box sizes, materials used to pack them, like you say single or twin mufflers etc

Hey buddy, you can fit a 225 exhaust on a 180 you will need a sleeve adapter to adjust the size of the pipe from the 180 cat back to the 225 system, you will also need a double cut out rear diffuser

Is there an exhaust (Scorpion/Milltek) available for a 2006 1.8L MK1 163BHP Roadster? Whenever I search I only see results for 180/225 =( Unless there would be no issue fitting the 180 on my car so long as there is only 1 exhaust pipe for the rear valence.

So you can get any exhaust you want it just may require some adapting, the 180 should fit the same as im sure the downpipe is the same for both k03 & k03s turbo's but just double check, so you should be able to use anything that state is for a 180, in regards to twin tips at the back you just need to get a twin diffuser they clip in and out

Fitted a ramair cone filter on my 180 and it's opened up the sound a bit. I want to keep the cat as to avoid any MOT or legal issues, what are your opinions on a cat back? I'm after it sounding nice on WOT but no drone. I'm on a tight budget, any recommendations on a sporty setup? Thanks for the videos as always!

If you are on a limited budget, you can either buy a Scorpion Milltek exhaust second hand, or go for a new gravity performance exhaust, if you see Bryn's new video on it he shows fitting and what it sounds like

UK interesting vid Dom....My 3.2 probably has a stock exhaust...but have no idea, but it does sound pretty cool, planning on getting a new system at some point this year, as its getting on a bit now and has lots of weld repairs. Yes, you so should get a 3.2....not many manuals out there though! If possible, only enter me for the voucher prize as a 1.8 catch can won't be too useful on mine hahahahahaha Lovely prizes by the way. Will record purring sound next week! ;)

There are some options but they are limited. You can use a cat back from a 225 but would probably be better to get a custom system

Pop and bang usually require no catalytic converter, and usually mapped in. Hopefully we get a nice range of clips that I can make that kind of information with

It doesn’t have to be stainless, could be titanium if you can get someone to make you one. Usually stainless is the go to for longevity
