There are laws that protect many birds similar to this one which rely on open fields to lay eggs. Sadly a lot of people ignore them. They often make their nest in people's lawns, and farmer's fields, there isn't any place left often to lay. Which has caused many birds similar to this to be endangered. My uncle is a farmer, and he had a similar situation like this. He just planted around the nest, so his field had a empty spot on it throughout the year. Though as I said, a lot of people just ignore it. Most often "home owners" and their have to be "PERFECT" lawns.
