Is it really that easy to get your foot in the door at a fin tech company with just a few short online fin tech courses?

@David Grooms - hard to say in somewhat generic terms, of course all depends on your other prior experience. But you can work in the fintech industry even if you don't code. There are plenty non-coding jobs in fintech and having a few courses under your belt will certainly put the odds in your favor, David. Keep me posted if you take any of these....

Hi, I'm an Accounting Manager. so what course do you recommend to acquire the needed knowledge to be competent in fintech from the perception of accounting? Thanks,
@martinzeman893 жыл бұрын
@Mohamed - I think the best 2 courses for you would be these here: Digital Transformation in Financial Services - Copenhagen Business School - bit.ly/3eiIWTi FinTech Law and Policy - Duke University - bit.ly/3eTEn0S They are not specifically on accounting, but the Digital Transformation course is great because it's focused on how traditional finance transforms with FinTech. The FinTech Law and Policy gives you a great overall understanding of how the regulatory part changes and how that impacts everything from peer to peer lending, legal, regulations, new payment methods. Plus, it's super short and can be done over the weekend. Let me know if you pick one and how you like it 🤞

Hi Atheer - the CFA is a cool certification to have, but it's really quite a lot of study work over a long period of time. I think it's more useful if you want to work in investment banking or private equity and less necessary if you are heading into fintech though.

Your channel is so good. Thank you very much. Question: you think someone that does not come from a finance industry is able to pivot and go into FinTech? Thank you once again.
@martinzeman892 жыл бұрын
@Bto - thanks 🙏 Yes I do. First of all FinTech offers a lot of roles that are not specifically financial in its nature - for example there are marketing, HR, sales roles at all fintechs. But other than that, so many fintech solutions are so innovative, that sometimes a background in finance may be an obstacle. Bottom line is, fintech companies are very often smaller startups that grow fast, and what they need most are people with open minds, that are creative, resourceful, and come from all sorts of backgrounds. Would it help if you had a prior finance industry experience for some fintech businesses? Yes. Is it an absolute requirement in many others? No, it's not.

Sir, currently I'm an ongoing B.com student in India. I have decided yo do my PG in the UK and i have applied for masters in FinTech in the Teesside University, Middlesbrough. Will it be difficult for me to grasp all chapters related to Tech? And i would be grateful if you could share your opinion in taking FinTech as my PG course. I have also applied for Msc Finance and Investment Banking in some of the universities in the UK. As you are talking about FinTech course that It's certificate can be achieved virtually, is it a wise devision to take Fintech as my PG course? And Martin Sir Thank you for this beautiful video. Kindly please answer to my query if it's ok for you. It would be a great help for me if you could say which career path should i have to choose.
@martinzeman893 жыл бұрын
@BHASI - first of all, congrats on your choices. They are both good and you can't go wrong. I think this really is a very personal decision. My take is, a masters in FinTech will give you a sharper specialization than a more generic Msc Finance and Investment Banking which is a lot wider and perhaps gives you a wider choice of potential career paths. Do you want to work in the FinTech industry? Or are you also considering investment banking, or other finance careers? If it's the latter, you'll probably be better off not specializing just yet and adding FinTech courses and certifications from one of the courses I talked about or a module that your other UK universities might have. If you're technically inclined and are interested in python and coding, you can pick up these skills without necessarily specializing in FinTech just yet. Bottom line - if you know you are 100% set on FinTech, go do that masters at Teesside. If not, go wider and pick up your FinTech credentials on your own with courses and modules that are widely available. Good luck and most importantly, have fun! ☝️
