Thomas, I recently discovered that I have a few "obesity genes." They are TCFL7L2, PPARG, and FTO. I have been ketogenic for close to two years now. I am lean, cut, moderately active, and feel pretty good overall. I keep reading I need to stay away from saturated fats because of these genes. Should I be staying away from them and lean more towards eating fatty fish? I really don't want to since red meat, eggs, butter, etc, are all staples in my diet. Don't get me wrong I do make sure I get my omega 3s, and I love fish, but I'm a little torn as to what I should do. I love red meat. Oh and my triglycerides and hs-CRP are both very low according to my blood panel.

I found myself thriving last year when I switched out red meat for fish last year. I dont have a gallbladder which inhibits digestion. So going with coconut oils , coconut cream and fish was a good choice for me. Thanks for the video Thomas. It keeps important info at the forefront of my mind. 👍

Great that you are making people aware of the dangers of PCBs, but don't be so quick to bash farmed salmon. Here in Norway we have been taking PCB contamination very seriously the past 20-30 years. as a result Norwegian farmed salmon contain less PCB than the wild caught variety. This is based on finding in a study published by the Scientific Steering Committee of the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food Safety, called Benefit-risk assessment of fish and fish products in the Norwegian diet an update. Check it out if you have the time. One serving also contains enough omega 3 to reach the recommended amount for one week. And sorry for being late to the party

There are two forms of COX: COX-1 and COX-2. COX-1 is constitutively expressed in many tissues and is involved in the production of prostaglandins that maintain normal physiological functions, such as protecting the stomach lining, regulating blood flow to the kidneys, and promoting platelet aggregation. COX-2, on the other hand, is induced in response to inflammation and is involved in the production of prostaglandins that promote inflammation, pain, and fever.

I've heard the optimal ratio of omega 6 to 3 should be around 3:1 or 4:1; 1:1 seems a little high, or just like an unattainable ratio naturally. But I welcome being proven wrong, these are just the figures I have heard people say a lot. Yes 10:1 or 20:1 would be very unhealthy and inflammatory but I don't think we have to get it up to 1:1 (or else we'd all be kinda screwed in western cultures).

I have a question not related to this topic, Thomas. I'm not asking for a medical advice. I was wondering if you ever experienced heartburn on keto? I'm a beginner. This is my 5th day and I keep getting awful heartburn. I suspect it is coming from the oils (I only use quality ones: cold-pressed avocado oil and organic coconut).
