Can you do a full step by step check list of the way you'd approach getting your first cybersecurit job? like step 1: get A+ step 2: find IT help desk job , step 3: study security+ while on that job.. etc.

This is sort of the route I took/taking. I was able to get into my school's IT as a student worker when I was working on my associates degree in cyber. I then lucked up when I graduated to continue working with IT as a "hardware support tech" aka a fancier term for help desk. At this point the only cert I had was some fundamental cyber cert that doesn't seem widely talked about. I immediately started working on a bachelor's in cyber, and I will finish this December. I just got my security+ (just barely) a month or so ago. I wouldn't say this is the tried and true way of doing it considering I just lucked out in getting (or networked my way into) the position I have now. Beginner certs are hit and miss when it comes to different opinions. My only real cert is the security+.

Hi Johannes! Sorry this video didn't provide you what you were looking for, hopefully there are other cybersecurity channels that may be more helpful for you.

Sandraa, what are your thoughts on the CompTIA PenTest+ cert?
@xCheddarB0b42x
@xCheddarB0b42x Жыл бұрын
Pen Testing is a tiny sub-component of the Cyber Security mothership. Think of it as a second or third job in Cyber Security. The hardest thing to get is the first job. If I were you, I would steer toward the CompTIA Security+ certification combined with practical, hands-on project portfolio that can be built with a home cyber lab: virtualization, virtual segmented LAN with honey pot, malware detonation sandboxing, pfsense firewall and rules, and so on. The "free" or low cost route doesn't really exist because you need to pay CompTIA for their papers to get past the HR screeners trying to weed you out. Aim for SOC Analyst I at an MDR or SaaS.

@@xCheddarB0b42x thanks for taking the time, that’s really informative. I’ve been studying for the Sec+ and have been doing other things for experience like try hack me and this game “World of Haiku”. My main issue is being consistent
