Great video! I'm also a Fiverr seller and I just wanted to clarify something: It is annoying when buyers order by mistake (or without reviewing your requirements). However, when that happens, I contact Customer Service and if they can see that the buyer did not follow my rules for that particular gig (gig description or FAQ), they will 'tweak' my stats so that I am not negatively affected. It took me a few months to learn that lesson but my tip for all Fiverr sellers is to write a thorough 'Requirement section', that way if an issue arises, CS will do the right thing.
@phamminhtien73063 жыл бұрын
what do you often write in the requirement section ?
@christophejamot67073 жыл бұрын
@@phamminhtien7306 That might depend on your category as a seller but I'm a translator so I tell them to preferably contact me before ordering and if not, that they need to have an accurate word count, otherwise it gives me ground to cancel the order. If you have a thorough FAQ & Requirement section, and the buyer did not follow them, CS will do the right thing

I just love the way how you broke down the video. I've been a Fiverr seller since January and personally, I prefer to get contacted by buyers prior to them placing orders so I can at least try to get all the necessary info from them. I've found that whenever someone places an order without contacting me 90% of the time they either ignore the tier descriptions or give little to no requirements. I also got knocked down to no level because of this on the day I was supposed to be level 2.
@courtneym55233 жыл бұрын
After having been knocked down to no level, do you still receive clients? I'm new and still trying to understand the platform. Currently working with a client who, every time I ask them a question, they seem to panic and get really passive agressive about it. I plan to deliver early, so I think i'll get a good rating, but maybe a bad one on the private review that fiverr sends out after.

I think the key here is to make sure your order requirements are TIGHT and very specific! But yes, you can work with clients even with no level!

Hey Tyra, as a buyer you do have the option to filter on the seller's location. The filter is under Seller Details -> Seller Location. However, speaking of bias and your situation with that buyer, unless it's something you need a native to do, I would highly recommend using sellers from other regions too, especially Europe. Top-quality deliveries don't only come from the US... that's why so many international companies choose their professionals from various countries as well as skills are really impressive and English is spoken pretty well by anyone as it's being taught from 0 grades in schools. :)
@TyraTheCreative3 жыл бұрын
choosing to work with people from the US is a personal preference. In my experience I've gotten scammed using sellers specifically from the middle east. They dont deliver what their gig states they can do, which is what I was referring to in the video. And, the communication barrier can be frustrating. I've used the fiverr platform for almost 10 years now, and this is my experience.

I always stayed away from Fiverr or Upwork, because you can’t build an actual client base outside of their platform. Which is just unfortunate. But I’m not really building one that quickly by myself either. This made me feel a little better about them tho, I think I might give them a shot. Great video!

@10 🎶The Artist🎶 yes, I have definitely tried my hand at these platforms since my comment on this video. To be honest, I spent hours and hours for a week or two just getting my gig photos, job descriptions, profile & work examples looking great. My prices are very fair and my posted gigs are unique so they stand out. I spent a lot of time doing research about the platform, customers and the competition. To this day, I haven’t received a single order. I’ve checked the buyer requests regularly, most of the time there aren’t any. I do logo design, so there should be some every day, and there’s just not. For any of my gig types. So I’ve been struggling to get that first order for months and its left me feeling a little sour to be honest. The only thing that has happened for me on Fiverr at this point, is I received a few messages from a potential buyer that never panned out. That’s all. I’ve updated my posts regularly, and I’ve followed all of the tips that I’ve learned along the way. Still Nothing. I’ve had way more luck with personal networking and social media marketing, and I don’t have to take a job at 1/3 the price I normally would just to get noticed in a sea full of “designers” that are charging next to nothing for generic work that don’t even bother to spell things correctly in their gig postings half the time. It’s frustrating when you’re starting out, to say the least. But I’ve come to learn that I’m far from the only person that feels this way, and the only thing I can really do is keep trying. That’s my unpopular but honest opinion. Feels like an ineffective use of my time to be honest. But don’t let my experience shape yours. Do your research and give it a shot! You’ve got nothing to lose but time if it doesn’t work out. I’m sorry if this wasn’t what you wanted to hear, but it’s my experience on Fiverr. Sort of the same story with Upwork, but I haven’t invested as much effort into it yet. Good luck!

@@zitaonyinyechi7718 Hi, I will sincerely suggest to you, you surround yourself by those who have succeeded on upwork, and of positive mindset. You will see the difference. You will succeed in it. I started exactly a month ago. I was mentally prepared for setbacks, failure and obstacles...despite being an expert in what I do outside freelancing space.. I concentrated 6-9 hours everyday digging out knowledge on KZbin University 🎓 🤣. Searching any info searchable till I discovered top rated freelancers that have made cool money. I got a big journal, I started taking serious notes and applying all what they said. I landed my first job in 2 weeks and two more others in a week (I wasn't expecting that at alllllll) To be candid, nothing good comes easy. What you surround yourself with matters! Should you sit amidst negative comments, you will loose out. I send out like 5-10 proposals a day. I am rugged. I just landed another good client ready to establish a relationship outside Upwork cos he was more than impressed with what I do. He even subscribed to my KZbin channel.

Tyra, your video was video was very helpful and informative. I’m about halfway through the development for a platform that I’m building for freelance creatives and this was a great insight of the do’s and don’ts. As a black man however, hearing about what you went through with Fiverr and the discriminatory client infuriated me. And the fact that fiverr still decided with the client is concerning on so many levels. I’m interested in hearing more about that experience from you. I’d love to come up with a plan to prevent that from happening on my platform.

It's BS. Isn't it enough that they get a cut? And now that I understand that buyers have to pay to reach out to freelancers... it's even more crazy that they have us bidding for work like this. Fiverr is the worst app for freelancing. Some buyers abuse of the ask for revision button and CS is aware of that. They ask for work that is outside the initial scope. Since CS has 0 technical knowledge they always side with the buyer. You don't get paid and buyer gets service for free. I have also had my gigs removed for no reason and got a permanent ban. When I asked CS they said that programming robots for forex trading was not allowed. A quick search shows 100's of people selling them. Upwork has higher quality clients

Knock down several levels. Years ago Ebay started a system where sellers were gigged for everything that went wrong but or didn't go wrong but there was a question. Ebay almost destroyed themselves. Sellers that don't deliver should get leveled down. On the flip side where there is an amicable settlement like a mis order there shouldn't be a penalty. They way to do this is to level down but allow responses from the seller. Balanced in both sides.

You got your intro from Fiverr no doubt? 😆 Very helpful video, thank you!

Nice video, very informative. What do you prefer? Fiverr or Upwork?
@TyraTheCreative3 жыл бұрын
thank you! I am so glad you enjoyed the video! I prefer Upwork as a seller, simply because you have the ability to get less of a percentage taken out of your money, and as a buyer, I prefer fiverr!

Hello Tyra, Can you please let us know which company did not want any Black models in their ads?
@user-wt9xm6xz6l2 жыл бұрын
Upwork is definitely more user friendly than Fiverr, creating a Fiverr account in itself is a challenge

What are your tips for starting out on fiver as a seller? I just want to make logos and write for people.
@TyraTheCreative3 жыл бұрын
the logo gigs are super saturated, you'll have to make sure you are on the site often, price your gigs competitively (i'd consider starting at $5, I know its pennies, but you need orders and reviews to get more orders and reviews lol), and be UNIQUE, it cant be something the 1000s of other sellers offer! good luck to you!!

@@TyraTheCreative So what should I price my biggest package at?
@marriejames013 жыл бұрын
@@Talkwithdulci You need to find 3-5 sellers at your level and average it out. that’s your price. Also, try to get reviews from 3 family members to get started. Maybe ask them to purchase your lower tier and reimburse them if necessary. You need reviews!

Well done. I haven't tried Upwork yet and was wondering if they collect from the client for you? Do you have to send either Upwork or the client an invoice? BTW, I subscribed.
@TyraTheCreative2 жыл бұрын
all invoicing takes place directly on the platforms!
