Bonjour! I learned that you do NOT have to be a French resident or citizen to acquire the pass. They only send the plastic card to French addresses. Others, such as USA citizens, can acquire and obtain the e-card version.

I knew of this but did not buy in my one trip to Paris last December. I did visit château de Vincennes as a substitute for Versailles. Good information and thanks.

If time slots are required at popular landmarks you’d still get one. At most places, I just go in without one.

I don't think you need to live in France to get the pass. I just subscribed with my Canadian address.
