Fun fact about that final cutscene. For swordsman using Iaido(pronounced E-I-dough, WOOLIE!) to toss away your sheathe means you know you’re entering a battle you don’t expect to win. Vergil tossing away his sheathe means he expected to be killed by Mundus in that fight. Sadly, that is not what happens.

When DMC4:SE was first announced in a trailer was in the trailer of the reboot's Definitive Edition which ended with Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition appearing on screen with an echo of Vergil saying "I need more power!" so the timing we got could never get any better.

During his final cinematic duel against Dante, he also choose to use Force Edge instead of Yamato, probably because he knew he would lose, but wanted a kayfabe excuse for losing.

I think the in-universe explanation given through flavor text was that Arkham was too evil to properly contain Sparda's power, hence why he devolved into a huge blob. It wasn't really a choice on his part.

Well the fridge logic is that Sparda with his true power should have been able to wipe the floor with Dante and Vergil, especially with them at the power level they had at the time. Maybe Dante post DMC1 wouldn't be instantly curb stomped by Sparda, but it wouldn't exactly be a cake walk to actually beat his father even then. Sparda took on the legions of hell by himself, and defeated Mundus in one on one combat -- even to the point it's implied he ripped a hole in Mundus' chest. If Akrham could actually control Sparda's real power, Dante and Vergil should never have won.

Non TL:DR version: The super costume gives unlimited DT, but this version of the game was changed so that doesn't apply to Quicksilver or whatever the fuck the other one is called. If you wanna co-op playthrough DMC3 you've gotta use an older version.

I do love the leadup to Vergil helping Dante in that fight. Just "Man, I wanna fight YOU, not this random jobber asshole. Team up so we can have a REAL fight when we're done?" It's so perfect for both Dante and Vergil, which is so weird for how different they are. Probably one of the best rival team-ups for that alone. Although, everything about the end of Mission 19 all the way through 20 is pretty much impeccable anyway, but I still gotta say it's so, so good. Also, fun thing about that final fight? When Vergil uses Judgment Cut, he actually leaves himself wide open. The game expects you to dodge, but I absolutely love just going in with a Stinger. Staggers him and everything. It's like the game itself is going "Wait, what the fuck did you just do?!"

This has honestly been one of my favorite playthrough you guys have done. I love that the first Vergil Fight is you getting wrecked, the second one is Vergil going easy but you fighting him to a standstill, and the final one is Vergil getting serious but you manage to beat him.

It would be nice if Arkham fought Dante/the player for a short while as Sparda, and while he's strong enough to beat Dante around for a little while his body can't sustain Sparda's power -- THEN he'd turn into a blob monster. It'd be more impactful.

[copy pasted some people's thoughts to some up my feelings] I'm not shocked that Pat and Woolie just ignore one of the best parts of the ending.That Dante tries to save Vergil and is genuinely and deeply saddened by his perceived loss? Like do we ever see Dante shed a tear ever again? Not to mention that Vergil's telling Dante to go could easily be interpreted as him trying to protect his brother. But instead we got jokes about Vergil being a sore loser... IDK, maybe it's just me, but that final interaction between them was so perfect to me because it shows that despite the animosity, and despite their differences, they're still brothers and they still love each other in their own dysfunctional way. Also Vergil going for Eva’s Amulet instead of Force Edge at the end. Fuck it’s so good. Vergil getting Eva's Amulet instead of Force Edge,the thing he's been after for the entire game, is easily one of my favorite scenes in the game. Such a small moment says a lot about him. It happened during Lady and Arkham's scene too. They tend to downplay big emotional moments in dumb action schlock. There's also them overdoing that "Dante's into someone who looks like his mom, ha ha ha" and yet have nothing to say about him trying to smooch Lady.

Pat, after beating the game Gunslinger only I wholeheartedly disagree. Gunslinger lvl3 can net you extra damage after the extended stun (shotgun stinger with mashing, that's 3 extra hits for free). Alternatively: you can mash his head with the hammer in swordmaster for extra damage. You can just use the roll or jump to avoid his attacks, it's not really a problem.

On DMD quicksilver is the safest for Vergil III. When he does His summon swords and DT allow you to stall him and blow up the swords with Kalina Ann. Jump cancelling killer bee to build DT
