Ree; I'm triggered by the fact that you're comparing this gun to Lucifer. Ha no, but in all seriousness Pat is super right that the gun is so bad that it shouldn't even be compared to Lucifer. It is true that Lucifer doesn't have much going on, but it still has more to it then being a glorified sticky gun; which something that you kind of already have with the charge shot on the coyote. It is also true that Pat doesn't care for guns, but he makes a pretty good point about saying that the game's gun mechanics are unoriginal and not well thought out when all you have for the sake of variety is your standard pistols, a shotgun/grenade launcher, and a slightly different variation of your grenade launcher that launches bombs that you can detonate.

Stupid thing 13: Drekavac, the coolest enemy in this game that has been hunting Donte down is only properly introduced in this stage and has no real story significance. I mean one would think that such a badass of perseverance would have more to him than "me hunt you good" for motivation. Even the Pursuer from Dark Souls 2 had more going on from a story perspective, and this game was building up to what should have been a reveal, but instead we got nothing.

I think Call of Juarez Gunslinger had a 'telling a story' narrative done pretty well. At one point you have to survive against a few waves of enemies cause the storyteller has to go to the bathroom and you need to wait for him to get back.

What baffles me is the usage of Biblical imagery throughout this game and the classic series to an extent, and yet Satan and God are nowhere to be seen. Like my main thought is that if that's the case why wouldn't you extend that to every weapon? Why wouldn't you introduce more guns that operated under that logic? You could have actually done something with the system. What determines what's a super strong demon weapon and what doesn't? Why is that line read like it's written by a 4 year old? I feel like they needed an excuse for more guns and just hoped no one would notice.

You guys can't proclaim you've fully LP'ed every Devil May Cry (not counting pachinko machines) until you fully beat both Dante & Lucia's parts of DMC2. It is set before DMC5 after all. One solution could be to make an hour long compilation video of both parts for the two characters. It's only fair to suffer a little if you truly love this game franchise. I played it, used mostly Rebellion and held off on using the guns. If I could do it then so could you. (I doubt they even know of Dante's Majin form.)

I had the exact same reaction as Pat when Woolie dared to compare Kablooey to Lucifer. Lucifer may be basically impossible to do anything with until you've pretty much mastered the rest of the game, but at least it has the decency to be STYLISH and have the most hilariously cheesy cutscene ever to go with it. Kablooey is just a grenade launcher with a dumb name that fires generic sticky bombs that's handed to you with absolutely no ceremony and has all the style and cool factor of shooting Nerf darts at enemies.

The environment breaks apart without clear logic. It's just pretty shapes and doesn't have the impact of stuff falling apart and blowing up the traditional way.

@@Scroteydada That's exactly what I mean by "Todd McFarlane" because it's how he creates thing. Instead of having things break apart and have a reason for it to, even if it's just to move it around, it doesn't. It just moves arbitrarily to look cool, but at the end of the day you look at it and go "Cool" for 2 seconds and then move on.

Jack S. I've got my finger right on it now. It's not slick. Donte got in that elevator for a joke and a joke only. The world established he can Spiderman around no trouble, so it's just transparent af when this happens. It's not saying something like the lift scene in Spiderman 2 for example (got myself thinking bout him) where it shows how Peter reverts back to dorky awkward outcast immediately after losing his powers. Maybe put an office worker in there with him. Contrasting his sloppiness but also lacking his freedom. It points out how messed up the world is. DmC is the dark souls of comedy. It demands much attention and then hardly does anything with it.

Here’s a cool concept ninja theory coulda gone with. How about instead of your rival being some rando special dream runner, it’s a masked Vergil sizing you up through random encounters just in case you betray him. Then at the end it’s a crazy reveal that he was hiding his true strength from Dante and it makes sense as to why he was such a pus the whole game and just randomly got strong for the final fight. You could even throw in some flare like him knowing how to counter the moves you used on him in the previous fights throughout the game.
