Came back 3 years later and had to watch all their DMC, Dark Souls, and David Cage stuff again. It amazes me how this final sprint of theirs was full of the entire DMC catalogue (at the time) and Godhand in such close proximity. I can't decide if it was going out with a bang or if they were stricken down in their prime, when things were just gearing up for even better things on the horizon. I know they've all gone on to create their own newer content, but it's just not the same. We don't really get to see Woolie and Pat's perfect ability to bounce off of one another, Pat's incredible use of Crazy Talk, Woolie's unending salt mines, or Matt's endless quote factory and ability to make the most comedically timed mistakes. There never was and never will be a channel like SBFP. And god damnit I miss them. I wish we could get more "reunion" content like the DMC5 series on WoolieVersus.

So Virgil is not written as a torn individual in the base game. He is confident and cold, Machiavellian but he doesn't enjoy evil or tyranny for tyranny's sake. He just sees himself, since he is essentially a super species, as the obvious person to lead the world. This is all portrayed kind of badly at times but it is still portrayed. This DLC ignores all of that. Virgil is now apparently obsessed with Kat and Dante and whether he should be empathetic or power hungry. He has a weird (unexplained) dream sequence to overcome this, meet his dead angel mom (seemingly for real), to tell her he killed the not real Dante and dunk on her for...loving Dante more than him but still seeming to love them both?, and then gains a power he already had. The writing is cobbled together in a way that feels not just rushed but like someone who wasn't a writer came up with it (maybe to justify something they already had made?).

Limbo us never explained, so it's just boring when it does things. 5 takes this idea, and makes it more tangible. The road is manipulated by giant tentacle roots. It isnt just unexplained magic, you see how it's happening and doubt the level will just swallow you. There is a visual connection to the tree, making it a much more tangible threat than Mundus DmC, even though it's not even a character. You also can fight them when they attack, giving the impression Nero has a chance.

The ability to create delay between you and the copy you is already exists from DMC3. Just press the DT button (L1) during casting your shadow to cycle between 3 modes; instant, 0.5 second, and 1 second. The orbs located on the left of health bars indicate which mode are you on currently.

And in DMC3, the shadow cannot copies you changing weapons. So just change your weapon after activating the shadow, then you and your shadow will use different weapons, and you will have combinations like the one this Change Mode DmC offered, even more. But, can DmC doppelganger press Start button on the Controller 2 so the Player 2 can directly controls the shadow? Yep, DMC3 doppelganger still wins.

I neglected to say this before, but you can easily prevent yourself from falling off of ledges while fighting by using the Red sword to pull enemies instead of the Blue sword to teleport to them. But it's funnier this way so perhaps it was meant to be.
