BTUs: This is what I remember..... One British Thermal Unit is defined as the amount of heat energy needed to increase the temperature of 1lb. of pure distilled water, 1°f. at sea level (this is called sensible heat). Once it reaches the boiling point (in this case 212°f), each lb. of water will need a further 970 BTUs to convert the water into steam @ 212°f (this heat is called latent heat). It does not raise the temp of the water. It only changes the state of the water from a liquid to a vapor or gas. Conversely, to freeze water, you must remove 1 BTU per pound of water until it reaches 32°f. (Removal of sensible heat). At this point, it's necessary to remove a further 144 BTUs per lb.(latent heat) to change the state of the 32°f water to 32°f ice. Unlike boiling water, removing BTUs from the 32° ice will cause a "sensible" heat loss, and the ice will be made colder as the ice contains less heat energy. No matter how long you boil the water, the temp will stay @212°. The water simply boils away. Remember: SENSIBLE heat changes the TEMPERATURE of the liquid. LATENT heat changes the STATE from a liquid to vapor (BTUs added), or from a liquid to a solid (BTUs removed). Hope this is clear enough for everyone.

Hello! Nice review! One important thing wasn't mentioned - does the gas valve have some sort of adjustment? Can I just simmer food? The Flash version does not have this feature I think... What about the Zip? Can I control the heat output? Thanks!
@TeamWillder3 жыл бұрын
Great question, I did not mention that haha. The knob you turn allows you to adjust how much fuel comes out and that allows you to slow down the cooking. If you have a pot you can make noodles/rice/etc. There is no low/medium/high setting, but you can control heat output with the knob. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Very well done. The only thing I'd add is to carry a little windscreen if there's going to be any significant breeze that day.
@TeamWillder2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the Comment and view @GeezerPleasers! A little windscreen would be nice in certain cases. The screen that is on it does well in most cases, but there have been a few times where it is more efficient to move it lower/behind a tree/etc. to get it out of the wind.

Thank you @Londoner Outdoors! Yes you can keep it on - have learned that since making this video. From what I've seen it does cut down the time by a few seconds, but it's not substantial due to the strainer and sipper. May help more in higher elevations. Appreciate your View and Comment! :)

Hey Team Wilder. Did that stove attachment come separate? Or did it come with the Jetboil? Because I want to be able to cook with a pan on that burner that came with the jetboil.
@TeamWillder3 жыл бұрын
Hey Gus! The Pot Attachment is separate, it's around $10. It works pretty well/fits inside the cup. The only thing is you don't have the wind screen like the jetboil cup has, so it's easier to use on a calm day/out of the wind. Thank you for the Comment and the view!

My jetboil zip has an issue with the flame control. For whatever reason the jet boil cannot hold a low-level flame without it going out. Extremely disappointing, I think I would’ve leveled up to the more expensive one if I had known I was going to have issues. Also realized mine came without the pot attachment which is a bit frustrating.
@TeamWillder3 жыл бұрын
I found out the first time I used it that the pot attachment was separate - seems like it should come with it. I have not had the same issue with flame control - that would be disappointing. I think when mine stops working well I'll upgrade to the next size up for a little more versatility. Thank you Jack!
@justinvsky13 жыл бұрын
I noticed the same thing with heat control but you CAN turn down the heat a bit you just have to do it by SOUND if that makes sense. If you turn the heat on HIGH you CAN turn the knob slightly lower and notice a different level in sound which is offering a slightly lowered heat level. Tested mine today and love it. But yes if you try to turn knob really low for a low flame it will go out. So just slightly turn it.
