Hey Sarah, have you seen the original Wicker Man from 1973. It's a million times better than the Nicolas Cage one
@hanng12424 жыл бұрын
Do you think so? I don't think that the original holds up very well. The singing is a bit over done, and the overt Christianity vs paganism thing just doesn't work today because society has become so much more godless. It might also be because I am an American, and we have no established church, so a police officer being officially outraged by the pagans makes little sense over here. Plus, I like the message of the remake - feminism is a murderous cult.
@milesbeckett94223 жыл бұрын
Agree! The original wicker man is an absolute classic from the 70’s It’s considered folk horror ( for those who don’t know)which has become very popular these days. At first I was put off by the music in it as well but I realized that it was a bit unnerving to know that they commit sacrifices and sing be merry as if nothing horrible happens. Don’t think she’ll ever have a video about 70’s horror or anything before that too much exploitation horror in that decade And probably anything before the 70s she probably find boring

I find Wishmaster (1997) to be quite the underrated 90's horror flick. It's so surreal and kind of gruesome in parts, particularly in the beginning and end sequences, but takes the whole "dark wish-granting" concept in an interesting direction, and the design for the Djinn is so so well done (and Andrew Divoff kills it). Plus, it features several appearances by famous horror actors, like Kane Hodder, Tony Todd, and Robert Englund. It also contains one of my favorite horror movie quotes: "No more doors. No more rooms. No more excuses. Make. Your. WISH." (It may not sound like much but I love Divoff's delivery).

Cube is one of my favourite movies of all time. I'm so glad she mentioned it here. It's so underrated. The sequels suck though.

They're all pretty much the same- watch people die in a story that is made overly-convoluted and makes itself up to have a shell of complexity and intelligence when it simply doesn't. They were all fun enough watches, but I wouldn't call any of them particularly good.

i (for some reason) only recently watched seven and it’s officially one of my favourite movies ever

Here's my list, one per year, no duplicates with your list. Tremors (1990), Body Parts (1991), Dead Alive (1992), Boxing Helena (1993), Cemetery Man (1994), Village of the Damned (1995), The Frighteners (1996), Event Horizon (1997), Ringu (1998), Ravenous (1999). edit: with Cemetery Man (aka Dellamorte Dellamore) being my favorite of the decade.

It's ironic (and unfortunate) that Sarah prefers practical effects but also modern horror. I'd be interested to hear of some modern horror films that don't rely on corny CGI.
@sarkaztik32283 жыл бұрын
There are tons of modern horror movies that mostly use practical effects a simple Google search would bring up that much. They're not 100% practical because that's a terrible (and stupid) decision in this age because it's inefficient, expensive, and taxing on everyone, but many use CGI to patch up otherwise practical effects and it's often barely noticable.

Another horror movie tied to the lord of the rings is Dead Alive aka Brain dead! I was surprised when I found out Peter Jackson directed it. Highly recommend it if you like slapstick horror movies!

Event Horizon, Exorcist 3, Misery, Scream, Candyman, Seven, New Nightmare, Silence Of The Lambs, Cube, Sixth Sense, Jacob’s Ladder, and From Dusk Till Dawn. To me those are the very best Horror films of the 90’s

I am really looking forward to find one movie I saw whEN I was a kid. Idk the name of the movie but hopefuly you guys do. It was about some weird things happening to a girl in highschool during Halloween and she started like to become another creature and kinda lost it when she found some human fingers burried in her yard.

1. Which Alien 3? The theatrical release or the Assembly cut? 1a. Have you read the William Gibson's Alien 3 graphic novel that came out last year? Gibson was hired to write the original script, which is very different from what eventually got made. Check it out. 2. No "Event Horizon?" Why not?

Blair witch promotion was amazing. I saw it before the movie. Also House on Haunted Hill is a bit over acted but still awesome. I would add the following to your list. - John Carpenter's Vampires, In the Mouth of Madness, and Village of the Damned. You can't go wrong with Carpenter. - Pitch Black. Rotten Tomatoes says release date Feb 2000. My DVD says 1999. Awesome sci-fi horror. - Event Horizon. Much better than Alien 3 imho. Had the potential of being one of the best sci fi movies ever but fell apart at the end and acting was a little over done. - The Mummy. Ok not a horror movie exactly but I'll put it as an honorable mention.

When you inevitably do an 80s series :D I suggest watching pumpkin head if you haven't seen it, a sleeper classic, lots of awesome practical effects.

After going through Wikipedia's list of movies released in the '90s, I had a list of 46 Top Films, 25 of which were Horror. Seven (the number as well as the film) on your list made my Top 25. I won't list the rest here, only the ones I can't bear to leave off. The Guardian (William Friedkin, director, 1990), Exorcist III (William Peter Blatty, director, one of my Top 3 Horror Films of All Time), Bram Stoker's Dracula (Francis Ford Coppola, director, 1992), Innocent Blood (John Landis, director, 1992), Fire In the Sky (1993), In the Mouth of Madness (John Carpenter, director, 1995), The Mangler (Tobe Hooper, director, 1996), Event Horizon (1997), Scream 2 (Wes Craven, director, 1997, my favorite Horror franchise), Phantoms (1998), Deep Rising (1998), Storm of the Century (1999), Stir of Echoes (1999). Well done, Sarah! Cheers!
