Hi Karen - I am really learning a lot from your videos. I just did the hard boiled eggs and they came out perfect! For stats and comparison, I used the instant pot egg rack (yellow from amazon), 9 med eggs. Water at tap temp, cooked 2 mins, 10 min natural release and then ice bath. I have a 6 qt duo version and live in Phoenix so basically sea level. The yolks are all yellow (no blue/green) and moist! Thanks!

I just tried method 2 and the hard boiled eggs came out amazing. Thank you.

I used the 2 minute cooking time with the 10 minute natural pressure release for the first time. The eggs came out perfect! it was so easy. Thanks you.

I don't have a 'manual' setting on mine, so I used poultry for 5 min and they are perfect! No broken whites and the eggs were perfectly done! I just got mine for christmas!

I have finally settled on 2-3-5. They come out perfect.

Paula Braun does it matter how many eggs you have with that setting?

Thanks Karen for doing this test. I have kind of done the 5-5-5, but with jumbo eggs and they turn out good, but have to say there are a few times after refrigerating a day or two they end up having dark around the yolk, any clues as to why. Plus this is the first I heard of the 2-10-5. Maybe I should try that, I am about 800 above sea level. Thanks a lot. Claudia

Absolutely love your channel (and my Instant Pot and discovering new recipes for it), but doing hard-boiled eggs in an Instant Pot is akin to searching for a Rube-Goldberg solution to a problem that doesn't really exist. Want perfect hard-boiled eggs every time? 1. Put the desired number of raw eggs in a saucepan sufficient to contain them and add enough water to barely cover eggs. 2. Place saucepan on stove and turn stove to high heat. 3. As soon as water begins to boil, turn heat to simmer and set timer for 12 minutes. 4. When timer sounds, drain water and flush/cover eggs with tepid/cool tap water. Done! Perfectly cooked eggs each and every time!

@@karenbellessapeterse Have never had any issue whatsoever with peeling eggs after my own and very simple cooking method, but perhaps the chickens in my area are somewhat more laid back and relaxed...

Fresh eggs from your chickens do not peel like store bought. They have to sit on the counter for a week or more and in the refrigerator for 2 weeks before boiling to be able to get the peels off. The older the egg the more the membrane separates from the shell. The Instant Pot eliminates the time you have to wait, which is a game-changer. Store bought eggs are already a week or more old before they hit the shelf, hence why they peel easier. Just some clarification as to why some people may prefer to use their Instant Pot to do their eggs. Plus, a lot of people like the set it and forget it a bit better. My daughter is one of them. She has forgotten eggs on the stove more times than I can count. Haha

I always used 5-5-5. I make egg salads so it really doesn't really matter if creamy or not I guess. Lol thanks for video. It eases my mind. 👍❤😁✌

After cooking is done put it in a bowl and run cold water on it while injecting some soya sauce through the shell using those small meat syringes. Let them sit for a few mins. Trust me it’s delicious. Best way to eat hard boiled eggs

There is nothing special you need to do. The eggs automatically become easy to peel because of the way they cook in the Insta Pot.

There has been a rash of "Hard Boiled Egg" thingies the last few days. I cannot recall which, it may have been ATK (Sorry - Americas Test K) which concluded that the best Hard Bolied Eggs were boiled. HARD boiled eggs are easy just boil them until you get bored then shell and eat. SOFT or TACKY (my favorite one to eat from the shell) is much more difficult, so many variables. Personally I put mine in an Egg Cooker and come back later so I am not to sure how long it takes.

You’re at 4500 feet and I’m at 450 feet. I do 555 and mine turn out perfect. So the altitude must have to change drastically to affect the results. 🤔

So I tried the 5-5-5 method today...complete FAIL! The yokes were not cooked through, but not as runny as a sunny side. The shells were super hard to take off, majority of the white part went with the shell. First time eggperimenting

Are all your recipes developed for high altitude cooking? This is important to know. I've never seen this mentioned in your blog. I've pinned several recipes and the outcome could be affected.

What is 5-5-5? You clearly cooked 5 minutes, maybe left it on “keep warm” for 5 minutes, then what is the last 5? You were much clearer about the other method 😕

5 minutes pressure time, 5 minutes natural release, then quick release and use tongs to place cooked eggs into an ice water bath for the final 5 minutes. Enjoy!

I use the recipe in the cook book The Essential Instant Pot by Coco Morante. For hard boiled eggs she gives different timing for sizes of eggs. I use Jumbo , put them on an egg rack, 1 cup of water and 8 minutes on high pressure, then quick release. They are so easy to peel. The shells just slide off. I do put them in an ice bath immediately and let them sit for a few minutes. I make 18 at a time and they last a week EUdice G
