Hello Paul, I have yet to explore the Feathers but I reckon you liked it a lot. Played Tonu last saturday, love it. That Sunbörn was my favourite on your other earlier video, but dont own a copy. Lot of great music and covers, thanks for giving the taste of them.

Hey Petri! Greg Foat released four albums this year. It's difficult to pick a favorite. Feathers has an awesome seventies vibe. Fits better with the fall/winter. Oppostie to his album together with Gigi Masin, a perfect summer album :) The Tonu Naissoo that same summer vibe all over it. Happy holidays! Cheers. /Paul

Hey Lis! Always nice to see you stopping by. Between all Christmas preparations I had to share these fantastic records. You are right, many put special attention to the sleeve and cover artwork. Almost all of them had something extra thrown in the mix. When I first heard Greg and Eero were recording together, I hoped for something special. Wish came true :) Happy holidays. Cheers. /Paul

Hi Paul, so many recent releases & artists to check out! Loved that Greg Foat/Art Themen album you played earlier this year too.

Hi Ed! Isn't it amazing how many great jazzy albums are released. I think everybody has a hard time keeping up. Off Piste with Greg Foat and Art Themen is a wonderful album. My personal favorite is the album Greg Foat did together with Gigi Masin. Ambient-jazz that gets better with every spin. I would have been a little over the top to put all three in the top3 :) Happy holidays. Cheers. /Paul

Andy Hay is carrying on the Sun Ra tradition of hand made covers. Love it. RR Gems can do no wrong. Organic Pulse Ensemble is a fantastic project. Good to see you back at it here Paul. Peace.

Hey Dave! Got the new Daniel Villarreal in the mail today. Would have make it tough to include, as one has to go. For sure it deserves a spot in the best releases of 2023. It's fantastic so many artists make something special of the sleeve/artwork. Especially RR Gems is high quality. Really adds to the enjoyment of vinyl. Happy holdidays! Cheers. /Paul

Hi Paul! I don't think I bought any new jazz in 2023 - nowadays they are bringing in so many other genres and influences it can be hard to know if it still is jazz or something new...I do like the drop of the Andy Hay one, a name new to me. Soul Supreme is a new one also, love the very 1970's sound of that. Actually they all sound great though. Cheers and happy holidays!

Hey Doug! No jazz all year? Not good, Doug, not good at all ;) I feel once soul was introduced and mix with jazz in the sixties. It opened the door for other genres to be put in the melting ppot.I love jazz for that reason. Especially now as you get funk, hiphop, funk, rock all in there with a seventies groove. Happy holidays. Cheers. /Paul

Hey Greg. Thanks! Happy to be back, and to see you return also :) We are lucky, so many great records are released this year. It seems jazz is really making a come back. There are also many new artist that released their debut this year. Two weeks ago I did a seperate video with the Best New Jazz Artists of 2023. No suprises or spoiler alert, the Ironsides album is included :) That's the reason it's missing in this one. Many other jazzy nuggets to find in that video. Happy holidays. Cheers. /Paul

@@XjunkieNL I guess to many great records actually from a lot of genres not just jazz 2023 was a great year so it's really hard to choose, Spirits - The Circling Sun is amazing and Formative Stages I'm still shocked listening that's just one man playing everything on the whole record 😳 it's genius 👍

Hello Paul, thanks for sharing these records. I don't have any in my collection, nor in my wantlist. I will check the N°1, N°4 et N°5. I know Moses Boyd and of course Greg Foat. It is my first impressions on this video. But I could also pick another one up after seeing one copy in a store. I know your perfect taste. I think I will go for Jaimie Branch for my favorite jazz album in 2023. I also look towards the Japanese scene in the 70s/80s at the moment : fabulous comp by BBE on J Jazz (vol. 4). I want them all. Merry Christmas, Bonnes fêtes ! Bruno

R.I.P Jaimie Branch an amazing talent gone way to soon

Hey Bruno! I know, it's a problem. There are too many records, too many releases, too much good music. It's a problem :) You can't go wrong with any of these albums if you see them locally. Jamie Branch is an excellent choice, it's a special album, especially with everything that happened. Bonnes fêtes & Bonne année! Cheers. /Paul

Naked women riding cows, that is something new Paul. For coooool laid back jazz, I will check on some of these though not sure how easy they will be to find in the US. I always enjoy the music of Foat.

Hi Steve! Me think the Naked Cows are easy to find. I mean the record of course ;) It's released by Funk Night Records from Detroit. You can't go wrong with any of these. Greg Foat is incredible talented. He released some fantastic albums this year. Happy holidays. Cheers. /Paul
