EGO. Super quiet and I don’t smell like I work at a gasoline plant. I’m pretty sure that inhalation of gas fumes are bad for you. I have a friend that I talked into going EGO and his eye and nasal irritation went away. Don’t let people deter you from electric. If you run a business yes you can fuel faster. But if you have a normal sized lot it truly is a life changing experience if you already love to mow. I have 11,000 square feet to mow and my 12Ah battery has 20 to 40 percent leftover when I’m done. I bought a second battery for range anxiety for no reason. I have the EGO blower and the absolutely amazing auto-feeding string trimmer. If EGO makes an aerator and a dethatcher/scarifier it’s going to be disruptive in the lawn care market!

I have a Honda 60v. It's my first mower and was a gift. The grass doesn't go in the bag. It's always a mess. It is supposed to mulch if the bag is not on and it doesn't. Even if I mow every 2 or 3 days I am going over it twice if I don't bag it. It can't handle the waxy leaves from these dead ash trees on the HOA side. I have to rake up everything before I mow. Last year there were days I couldn't deal with the leaves and had my old lawn guy come with his gas monster and clean up the yard. I want a better mower but neither of these look like the way to go. I'm going to measure the blade tomorrow : )

I am a big fan of gas mowers, as I have an HRC and mow every 4-5 days. When that one gives up the ghost, I'm sure battery options will be much improved as to what they are today. My local Mower Shop said the Toro battery unit is build the same as their gas version, just different engines. I would do Toro. Although Milwaukee seems to be the top dog in the Electric Mower battle. One thing that is odd to me, is why the battery mowers cost so much? Seems a gas mower is cheaper now. Maybe I am off, but that is what I've found. Thoughts?
@patricksquires77 Жыл бұрын
Your comment is spot on. Batteries are expensive is the answer to why their expensive. I hope there are MUCH better options in the future. Right now their so-so at best.
@lazylearner967 Жыл бұрын
@@patricksquires77 Ya, I don't see a reason to go battery on a mower over gas. Perhaps on trimmers and edgers? But I could argue both ways for those items too. My Dad, and Sister have Ego trimmers and blowers. The Ego Trimmer is the most uncomfortable piece of equipment I have ever used. For me it isn't ergonomic, and my hand cramps badly compared to my Shindaiwa, Echo, and Stihl trimmers. Battery blowers have a LONG way to go before I would consider those. The batteries on the Ego don't seem to hold up beyond the 3 year mark either. My sister loves her Ego stuff, compared to gas (she borrowed my Echo stuff for a couple of seasons) but has had to regularly replace the batteries and NEVER has enough juice to Edge, Trim, and use the blower for clean up on a single charge. But she didn't like starting gas machines, or pouring gas into their tanks. Each to their own I suppose?

Hmmm no maintenance besides sharpening a blade and charging a battery vs gas station trip not much time as we have cars air filters oil mix if you stock up when you do go and never a tuneup needed or having to pull a freaking cord I don’t care who’s the best I went with ego after a client made me use his ego equipment and paid me more to do so this was 6 years ago before I got tired of property landscape maintenance after 33 years truly was like a breath of fresh air apparently the noise and fumes and shop visits is what I didn’t like about gas power but at the time had to make a living and couldn’t wait but those days are behind and I don’t mind one bit 👍👍😁 and in the long run I do believe it to be cheaper if your up on how to store and maintain your batteries properly

Looking at the 2156sp for this season to upgrade from an LM2000 (2.5ah battery) so I appreciate this video. I tried a Toro Stripe and it was worse than the nearly 10 year old EGO and choked out sooner. What I hope the newer EGO can do is blaze through hybrid Bermuda at any HOC without me worrying if it's going to choke out and turn off. Do you reckon the 2156sp can handle just about anything? EGO claims 8.3lbs of torque which was their highest. Now they have a 10+lbs model coming out.
