I realized I didn't mention how much I love that the mimic is a hermit crab, plus the food chain interaction between the treasure bugs and mimics! Also a slight correction(?): I said the animation director of the first half's name was Hirotoshi Arai, and that is what it's listed as on anime-news-network, but on a key frame that Studio Trigger posted on Twitter, it's written as *Hiroaki* Arai. So one of them is wrong, but I'm not totally sure which!

As a Chilchuck enjoyer I was so happy with the way they animated this story. I also truly like how, when he is studying the room, he measures his own body compared to the spear trap to know if he could survive it. When he triggers it to hit the mimic it was not a gamble or an accident, he acted deliberatedly which emphasizes his professionalism and experience - the characteristics that most distinguish him from the rest of the party.

I love how every video you make is like a love letter to this series, you're paying attention to so many aspects of an episode that most of us just take for granted. When I saw the mimic fight I had only one thought: "They had no business making this scene as epic as it is" and they still did haha man i'm so excited for the next episodes.

they went so hard on this episode for no actual reason but of course I enjoy it nonetheless. Also surprised you didn't talk about how they showed the mimic being a crab early through chilchulk's memory, I thought that was a weird change. Also Spoilers Thistle eyes being changed to reflect future events, now that is a good change

This was definitely a more involved episode animation side, again thank you for pointing out things I've most definitely missed (I admit I lack the patience of frame by frame)! I do wonder if the formula that seems to be established in the last episodes, 2 simpler ones and a 3rd one much more complex, will keep happening or if things will change in the rest of the series... Nothing but wating will tell, I suppose. Appreciate how they changed little things to have a more cohesivo look with payoff that will have to wait a long while for a payoff...

I just watched all your Dungeon Meshi videos in a row and I love all of them. Your editing is top tier. Your animation breakdowns remind me of TB Skyen's but you do your own bit of animations as well as tracing which I really don't see a lot. Your view count is too low for your skill. It's so nice that you bring up the animators and directors, too, because so many people in the spaces I frequent act like art grows on trees. Thank you for all your hard work. Can't wait to see what the next episode brings us.

9:38 Small thing here, and I’m not sure this is true or not, but I get more of the vibes that this shot was done via Rotoscoping, judging by how the lines are more wobbly (assuming that this isn’t intentional boiling added to 3D Modells if this really isn’t Rotoscoping) and how the movements seem a bit more realistic. I think you can see this best with how Laios’ arm brace seems to be 2D, but the rest looks more 3D. But this is mostly speculation and based purely on vibes. Anyways great video series! I have been binge watching the videos here cause they are just so interesting to watch! As someone who hopes to one day break it into the animation industry, it’s fascinating to see all the different techniques used in this series!

This was one of my favorite episodes, and as I watched, I couldn't wait for you to talk about the incredible animation in some of those mimic scenes. I really enjoyed watching Chilchuck have to deal with all that on his own and sort of puzzle through it, since so far he hasn't been at the forefront of too much. I will say it every time, I am really glad you're still doing these, and they greatly enhance my enjoyment of the show overall.
