Context:
In August 2023 I had a complete pec rupture. I documented the comeback which led to the biggest wrapped total of my career, 2110 at 308 in May of 2024. I am now on a mission to lean out in order to take care of my unfinished powerlifting goals.
This meet was step #1.
362.5kg Squat (2.5kg all time PR)
205kg Bench (5kg post pec tear PR)
342.5kg Dead (5kg all time PR)
910kg/2006lb Total (2.5kg all time sleeve PR)

Yes, I put my singlet on backwards for deadlifts. Already had baby powder on it before I noticed so too late to switch lol.

Congratulations! I think that optimism is a valuable trait to have in bodybuilding and powerlifting; being optimistic in the long term about training helps me reassure myself that each hard training session, whether I am feeling good, average or bad, all amounts to my long term goals. I think that an optimistic viewpoint, when you know you're bringing it all each session, cultivates mental clarity and success.

I just wanted to say a huge congratulations on your performance! Going 9/9 and setting a PR total is no small feat, especially after everything you've been through with your pec injury. Watching you push through the nerves and battle back becoming stronger has been truly inspiring. You’ve put in so much hard work, and it’s amazing to see all that effort pay off. I’ve really enjoyed following your journey-keep up the great work! P.S. I’m glad I got Joel straightened out

Hey Seth, i tore my left pec at the humeral myo-tendonous junction last weekend going for my first 500lbs comp bench. I got surgery yesterday, Doctor said it went pretty well and he got basically the whole junction back together. I know a junction repair is really messy and fragile compared to a tendon to bone repair, so it doesn’t exactly relate to yours, but I’m being told 6 weeks in a sling and 6 months no lifting. Got any advice before then?
@dr.sethalbersworth
@dr.sethalbersworth 18 сағат бұрын
Mine was a complex tear, meaning the repair involved both the junction & the tendon to bone. Was told no lifting for 12 months and that a complete recover would take 36. I benched my first 405 at ~ 8 months lol. With that said: Don’t try to do what I did because the timeline was risky, but don’t decide that it’s going to be SUPER limited because of the type of tear.
@alexpunch3ll0
@alexpunch3ll0 18 сағат бұрын
@ that’s an amazing recovery from such a complex injury, you must be a doctor or something ;) in a few months when i am out of the sling and not terrified of movement I’ll hit you up for a consult. I texted Dave Tate and he re-assured me that he put 150lbs on his bench post pec tear, so between you and him i still have some hope
