I tried the GLC, but the length of the hatch area was too short for my dog crate to be accomodated. I thus opted for the 2024 GLE450, and within the GLE range, I agree that the GLE450 is the sweet-spot. Also note that the GLE350 has a lower-end AWD system, versus the GLE450 and above models. The GLE350 has a simple open differential with a 50/50 split, and torque transfer is via the brake system of the car. The GLE450 and above, which uses their "Torque on demand" AWD system, can do 0/100 and 100/0 torque transfer via transfer clutches, and drives with a rear-biased torque split. So the 350 versus 450/580/63s difference is not just the engine alone, but also the underlying AWD system, which does change the driving dynamics a bit. I already have a great experience with my 2022 E450 All-Terrain Wagon, which I believe you could have included within this SUV comparison, since for all intents-and-purposes, it offers every bit of what a typical SUV offers. A wagon is just a lowered SUV or a lowered Cross-over !

Very good and informative comparison. I drove every 2024 Mercedes GL's SUV and it's my opinion: 1. GLC has no space for legs in front seats (for me), this new center dashboard is too big / too wide, so there is not enough space in front for tall passangers/drivers; same issue I had with new C class model - such a nice cars with badly design interior; E class doesn't had this issue; boot space in GLC is also too small for such type of car. 2. GLE it's best option, but only with 450 engines or amg, hybrids has batteries in boot so it's much smaller; also engine in hybrids is 4cylinder in such a big and heavy car (had one car in same size and weight - not hybrid but mhev - with 4cylinder engine, never again, fuel economy just does not exists). 3. GLS it's too long for me, it's also has same interior that GLE, so only if You need 7-seater; consider also that, if you take GLS, You will have to park on two spaces, because in normal single parking space quarter of a car will be on street. Suspension you feel it when there are irregularities in the road so in other words not good Suspension for north america cause our roads in the usa are pothole ridin with bumps everywhere and bridge joints that are like speed bumps at times even on our interstate highways and some paved roads could be considered off road with how many holes they are being inches apart filling the entire road

Great job in the reviews have a GLS and GLE we are a family of 6 so the boat is for the family trips and wifey her car my mother in law has the GLA, not sure about build quality have no issues so far and the GLE is older and has 90K miles just regular maintenance, think a lot of peeps don’t take care of their cars , regular oil changes and maintenance yes is expensive but if you take care of them they are good cars. The GLE olatough older then our GLS drives nicer has no air damping is to to floaty but we have the inline six EQ and the V6 on the GLE. I really don’t understand the move to 2L turbo on these car they use the same fuel and the engines feel stressed in such big cars specially here in Arizona where it get 45 Celsius a turbo 2 liter gets very hot this can’t be good, you will blow the turbo or head gasket. The V6 natural is my favorite in fuel consumption and performance get like 23 MPG the GLS although heavier does better in fuel consumption24MPG but both cars drive just over 500 miles on a 24 gallon tank. New and old styling I still prefer the more classing looking put to 2019 styling of the GLs and GLE over the new one.
