My dad took his advice years before seeing this movie when he redid the plumbing in our old house. Far as I know, it still has all the copper pipe in it. It cost money but it saved money. RIP Dad.

Some years ago I was on a trainride with antique carriages. They were refurbished and beautiful, but there was an issue with the 100+yrs old waterheater. I guess someone had given it an awful push or something. An 80 year old plumper took it apart, scrubbed the pipes, filled them with sand, reshaped them to the correct angle with heat, cleaned the sand off and reattached the pipes to the heater. The old thing will work just fine for another 100 years. It took him less than a couple of hours.

I always notice the irony in what he says, because he emphasizes "quality" with these two customers while seeing a cheap hussy on the side with his marriage.

I just hired a plumber for thirty minutes ... it costs $157.23 bucks. I thought of this line and had to come see it.

You need more friends. Tip them well and cash, ask them flat-out if they're happy and you'll always get a right now service call and a great rate. Don't be rich, tho. They'll see right through it.

Buying quality in the long run will save you more in the long run. It lasts longer. Otherwise you'll end up down the road spending more when something happens. Like most cheap things that are not made in the USA.

First there's knob and tube. Which is garbage, and you can see where that's gotten you. (House burnt down.) Then there is Romex 10/3 which is very good. Unless something goes wrong. And something always goes wrong! (Pepino The Mouse chewed through the insulators and fried Tom the cat.) Then?... There's MC 10/3 which is COPPER armored cable. Which is the only wire I use! It cost money. It cost money because it saves money!

Have always wondered why $10,800, why not just an even $10,000? Then it hit me: the $800 was so that he could buy the girlfriend the “birds fly to the stars” necklace. Wise man that Mr. Castorini.
