Hi Ashley, my Monstera Deliciosa is now over 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide...I LOVE it, but the branches are too "leggy." How do I prune it to have a more "bushy" look? I appreciate your help!

Why don't you try to put some of the air roots in the soil since they don't have anything to grab onto like in nature? Maybe they would generate baby plants if they were in dirt and had moisture.

Putting the air roots in soil just creates an extra root system

Not true. The aerial roots allow the plant to grow bigger. I have 3 monsteras that are 8+ feet tall (6 years old) due to me tucking the aerial roots into the soil. It's a waste not to use them.

I received a monstera from my mom and one of the leaves yellows at the tips. I usually trim the yellow portions but it only seems to slow the process down. I thought it needed more light and moved it closer to a window but the tips won’t stop yellowing slowly.

I got 3 days ago top cutting of 35 year old monstera deliciosa and it is MASSIVE! 💚 its new leaf is just droopy, it was droopy when I got it, how can I get that new leaf better?

I would say buy a cheap moisture meter to avoid overwatering. I was surprised how little water they actually need.

What is the difference between pearlite and vermiculite and is one better than the other?

Use perlite when you want better drainage and aeration. Use vermiculite when you want more moisture retention.

perlite does not absorb water, it can only get wet at the surface like a rock. when integrated in soil, it acts like 'air bubbles' w/ the purpose of creating air pockets for plants that do not prefer soggy soils. most ppl you see on youtube use a little too much perlite in their soil mixes because it looks pretty :). i'd say 10% is the upper limit and could be used for plants that require the soil to dry out between waterings but the climate and size of plant would keep the soil too wet for too long... it's nothing wrong w/ it but as it is a filler, it means less soil is available for the plant and it needs water more frequently. it can be used in the bottom of pots that tend to sit in water after watering/rain. having 1in of perlite at the base makes it safer against root rot once the roots start going in circles (root bond) and would be sitting in (usually) warm water for days at a time. vermiculite is in essence the opposite, similar to coco fibers. it acts as a sponge being saturated w/ water and fertilizer, a water retaining medium for plants that love extra moisture, or regular plants in super arid hot climates. since most commercial soils do not contain actual soil (dirt) their water retention is somewhat less than that of natural garden dirt so a number of things are added to help w/ that. hope this helps... ps: perlite can be used for rooting plants. fill a container/pot w/ perlite, put the cutting in, water it and then dump the water if the container doesn't have drainage holes.

how do you keep the humidity high in your plant room without causing mold to start growing? i have an indoor greenhouse with a humidifier that auto shuts off and on depending on what i set the humidity level to, but i’m starting to outgrow it and still want to keep the humidity levels high in the room it’s in without mold growing. i see in your videos, you usually have a humidifier going, but just wondering if you have had any issues with mold/mildew, having to keep a high level of humidity for your plants
