I personally go with -12 Db and noise cancelling with low cut off for best results. These wireless mics really are a game changer I’ve had all sorts of issues trying to get good sound in the past.

That’s it mate. So much better than my old set up. Zoe has used the mic with a lapel mic in the helmet and that still sounded half decent. She couldn’t get the mic inside the cheek area so the lapel mic was a good compromise

-12 gain NC Off - no wind noise and some engine noise. Love that -12 gain NC On - yeah too quiet and engine sounds weird! -6 Gain, NC off (I use this setting) - I get a lot more wind noise, sounds more natural. I like it! -6 gain NC On - I don't mind that at all as well. Good engine noise but some weird background sounds on occasion No gain, starting to get some peaking but still ok. Great test mate, it's such a good set up, sounds great on the GS!

Great comment mate. I’m starting to put it on -9 NC off. As I find myself bumping the audio level up slightly when editing the videos. Hopefully this will negate that and it still be decent audio. 🤙🤙

Great video. I just ordered a mic mini. I believe the gain settings are pretty much the same as the Mic 2. It's a lot smaller so will fit in the helmet better and is under half the price. Thanks!

I think you have just solved my issue, I have a RPHA1 and use the mic in that, I have had a lot of echoing on my Panigale V2 like you have just had with the Noise Canceling “on”. I’m going to try it with it off today and see how it goes. Thanks mate

Glad I could help out mate. The mic just tries too hard to cancel the sound of the bike to effectively pick up the sound of my voice as well. Let me know how it goes on your v2.

Hi, is it possible for you to test the mic below the seat? Just to capture the engine sound, with a cloth or a sponge so that it does not move around while riding. I'm looking for something to do that and maybe this mic will do great. Thanks!

​@@DSR1YT I taped my mic2 on the rubber of the passenger footrest of my Tracer 7. Tracer 7 is very quiet, but with that configuration I suddenly noticed that the exhaust sound is wonderfull. Nice puffs when downshifting and a nice growl in higher revs. Couldn't hear that without a microphone. Too bad I would need an aftermarket exhaust to hear that wonderfull sound. Its over €1800 😢

Hi, I use the same settings on the DJI Mic 2 -12 dB and noise cancellation disabled When it is activated, strange sounds are heard, not so natural Although I would like the ambient noise to be heard a little less, I was thinking of buying the DJI Lavalier Mic but I haven't seen many reviews The audio issue is always complicated in motovlogging Greetings from Peru ✌

@404michaelnotfound no worries mate, glad I could help. I couldn’t find any of the official DJI magnets and just grabbed some square magnets off Amazon. Holds the mic well enough and it’s never dropped out by itself, unless my fat fingers pushed it by accident 🤣

I use the DJI Mic 2 wirelessly connected to the OSMO Action 4. No lapel mics used. Im more than happy with the outcome of my set up. Hope that helps.

@RollinThundervlogs I’ve tried it with and without the dead cat and I’ve opted to go WITH the dead cat, just to help try and stop any extra wind coming up under my chin curtain because the mic is upside down in the helmet as mentioned in the video. :)

-12 NC off sounded great!! But wanted to ask what is the setting of low cut? Do you have it on?

hay mate, so my understanding that 'low cut' option if turned on, will check for noise frequencies at 100hz or lower and try to eliminate them, I have this option turned off as I dont know how it would affect the noise when on the bike. Again though, just because I have it turned off doesn't mean it's right or wrong, other people may use these mics in different situations that make having it turned on advantageous. as always, test and adjust as you go along mate.

Question.... If you record audio with an external mic, like zoom or tascam to get your exhaust and ambient sound and rely on the dji mic only for your voice and try to cut out as much sound from the bike as possible, would you use -12 with noise cancellation off? or would you prefer the NC on.

For me personally. I’d still go with NC OFF. I don’t like how it makes my voice sound when it’s turned on. It’s constantly trying to muffle out the exhaust tone which then affects my voice. I know other riders like NC on. Like @peakybiker, pretty sure he always has NC on. 🤙

Hi. I have just got the mic 2 and action 5.....not particularly impressed with the audio at -12 and the 5 isn't noticeably better than the 4. I believe the 32 bit float only kicks in if you are using the receiver and have it selected in the receiver and then you have to export the audio file from the mic 2 to your computer to then drop it into your timeline . Just wondered how you have found the mic 2 after a few months . Position in the helmet? I have a HJC also. I may have to go back to having the receiver plugged into the camera like I did for the action 4 and original mic...which was good for 133mph!!!!!( allegedly) Regards

3x it float needs to be activated with the receiver yes, but the receiver doesn’t need to be used for the 32bit float to work once its activated. My mic will record a back up audio file of the 32bit float if i need it. I’ve yet to need it, but it’s nice to know it’s there. I’m still really pleased with my set up from mic to camera. 100% better than my experience with my go pros. I use -12dB too, as I found wind noise caused clipping at high speed even with my visor shut. Totally agree with noise cancelling off as it makes it sound "burbley" with it on. I have experimented with using a lav plugged into the Mic2 so I can still talk with the chin bar raised on my modular helmet, but not had much luck above 30mph as it just gets overwhelmed with wind noise. I did try having the receiver plugged into the side of the camera, but it fell out and I ran over it so it was destroyed. Oops!

Haha ran over it, i do sometimes get paranoid that the mic will randomly fall out and I’ll run it over too. Trial and error at this stage mate, this is why i done some research on quiet helmets as well, got to do as much as you can to help out the mic whilst riding aye.

Hey bro, I turned off N.C and dB down to 9 and still have a little bit of wind noise every 5 seconds. I do hard core twisty and Canyon riding. What's the best setting you recommend?

Currently I run NC off. -9 DB, dead cat on, mic upside down so it doesn’t get me breathing on to it. Chin curtain on my helmet, I researched helmets before buying it to make sure i got a quiet helmet as well. I close the chin vents so there’s no extra wind coming through. Visor shut fully so it’s clicked down and locked in place to reduce the wind coming in through the visor hole as well. In editing I usually up the volume slightly and add about 20/25% voice isolation, I use FCPX to edit my videos. Hope that helps mate. 🤙
