The majority of recommended sun screens listed on here are below 30 SPF which dermatologist recommend and has to be re-applied every 2 hours in order to be protected against harmful UVA/UVB rays. I have had 5 melanomas removed since 2017 and I am very picky about which sunscreen to use, I can not use chemical sun screens because I am allergic to them, I had tried them decades ago and my skin felt like it was set on fire! My dermatologist at MD Anderson recommended Elta to me which is physical mineral sunscreen and low on the list of toxins by EWG, I have been using this particular sunscreen for a very long time now and have had no problems with it as far as burning skin and believe me, I am super sensitive to chemicals, perfume and so on. Unfortunately people rarely speak about all the chemicals in our food, in particular everything pre made ready to eat junk and fast food that people eat every day on a regular basis. Cancer in America is rising in record speed because the FDA is allowing chemicals to be used in our food supply, on animals and their feed and personal hygiene products that not allowed in many other countries! As a matter of fact, there is a multitude of countries that have banned certain foods from America to be imported into their country!

Also you should consider clothing as well. Solbari an Australian brand does 50 spf clothing, including for swimming. I use it in the Philippines. It's much easier to cover up than to apply sunscreen which may vary in thickness of protection.

Hello! I do have a question about the badger sunscreen line. What is the difference between the numbers of SPF? Also, will the 40 or 50 SPF badger brand will give a white cast on Asian skin tone? I am in my early 30's will it be weird if I use the baby version. I am sorry for all the questions. I will be going to Cancun in a couple months and I want to prepare myself. Thank you
@dryvonneburkart Жыл бұрын
Hi Anna! Thanks for watching 😊 I believe that the difference between SPF 40 and 50 is the relative amount of UV protection each one provides. Based on my research, SPF 45 blocks 98% of UV rays and that’s sufficient so higher SPF isn’t worth the extra cost. Just be sure to reapply frequently. Our whole family uses the Badger Baby sunscreen so not weird at all. Great job thinking ahead! Have a great trip 😎

Hello, Thank you for this information! I was wondering what are your comments about the EWG warnings against the following ingredients in the Beauty by Earth Tinted Mineral Sunscreen recommendation? The ingredients of concern are: Cupressus Sempervirens (Cypress) Leaf Essential Oil, Citrus Paradisi (Pink Grapefruit) Essential Oil, Iron Oxides (CI 77499)
@dryvonneburkart Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! This is a great question. I don't give the EWG ratings a lot of weight because most of them lack data. I agree that essential oils carry risks for allergies, but unless you're allergic or have sensitive skin, then it shouldn't be a problem for most people.
