I don't understand why collagen supplements are actually worthwhile. The peptides surely break down in the gut and then you're left with just a bunch of amino acids you can get from food?
@brookeb79942 ай бұрын
@@emilyb5557glycine and proline are two of the amino acids higher in collagen, but typically lower in most diets. They help not only with skin health, but also with joints and detoxification. (Amino acids are important in phase two of liver detoxification.) That said, if you eat a more traditional diet with meat on the bones, gristley bits, soups/ broth made from simmering bones, feet, cartilaginous parts, and organ meats you are likely getting more of these amino acids that are lacking in a predominant muscle meat diet.

@Berd84302 ай бұрын
There is evidence that excessive hyaluronic acid use in skincare products can result in dryness and irritation over time (excessive meaning in more than 1 product a day, which most people experience). Dr. Shireen Idriss goes into this, a well-regarded cosmetic derm. I’d look into that! Glycerin is often a much better alternative, and is also (as far as I know) not a major concern in terms of toxicity

Well, we actually need Vitamin D from sun exposure and it also elevates mood. So, perhaps they've gone overboard in scaring the public away from sun exposure & especially the depressed should increase their exposure. We should all get about 10 minutes of unprotected exposure to stay healthy and happy!😊
@PeterSkyeАй бұрын
@@calista1280 Yes it’s true, but you can also get the vitamin from food source. I mostly mean over-tanning for longer periods is bad and especially in midday sun. Sunshine can definitely elevates mood though, I agree

Start with lowering your exposure to items with long ingredient list. The shorter the better. Then start learning what each ingredient means and does. The reason why, is so that you understand that some products only use a scientific name, but the product is non toxic. Most items with the word fragrance contains even more ingredients not on the packaging. Easiest or hardest step, stop using sprays and candles.

Not the most, but it is an amazing superfood. I love Amla because of it's multiple benefits, not for vitamin C intake specifically. The most vitamin C is found in Camu Camu. However, a lot of vitamin C is also found in parsley, which is amazing, cause you can add that to your daily salad.
@geo_neo99 ай бұрын
@@alexissmith8158 yes it raises your metabolism and gets body to absorb more from foods. So imo its the best n better than camu.
@alexissmith81589 ай бұрын
@@geo_neo9 I am for whatever works, so I do my deep research so that I can cover for any environment, but it is true that I prefer the natural products. This is one main reason why I moved to the countryside last year. I have a garden now, something that not long ago was just a dream...I used to live in the capital of my country, one of the most toxic towns in Europe. But I digress...anyway, I am 100% for the natural route, especially when you produce your food and/or when you know who made it and how. But i don't exactly trust labels in supermarkets or health food stores that much...so for people who do not have a sure source of clean products, I would advise to go for clean vitamins and superfoods, in capsule or powder form, tested for toxins and heavy metals. I would also look for brands that produce and test the products in countries like Germany. These guys are pretty stiff generally speaking, but they have great laws in place and very advanced tech labs.
