I own three Kent combs, the oldest is 5 years old now, best $10 I ever spent on that one, still works and looks brand new. Personally I have a wide tooth for after I shower, a fine tooth pocket comb for styling and maintaining a hairstyle throughout the day, and a mustache comb that doesn’t see much use recently (shaved beard). They really are the best bang for your buck for what you get.

What i remember most about Scottish Grandfather, was the Coal Tar soap, Aramis and Brylcream in his hair. He wore tweed and loved to hunt and fish for trout. He also wore a very nice 9ct Roamer watch (which was passed down to me). I guess my Parker pen is something British, that i use on a daily basis. Great show again. Regards Stu

Not really luxury brands as such, but as a woodworker I have found it worth seeking out classic British made tools...they kind of lost their edge (pun intended) after about the early 1970's, but post war Stanley planes are a delight to use and older chisels from Marples and Robert Sorby have a feel all of their own and hold an edge as well as the very best of today's tools.
@theurbangentry6 жыл бұрын

I can't agree that Earl Grey is as British as tea gets. It's a traditional black English breakfast blend. Splash of milk, touch of sugar. Just simple, honest, slightly bitter and astringent, and it caffeinates you. Like, Earl Grey is well British. Don't misunderstand me in this regard. But, there is something universal about the simple and honest nature of a breakfast blend.

Splendid video, old boy! I use a British made tangle teezer everyday. I only wear Barker shoes (god, how I love them), and my Omega CK2129 has an English-made case (Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, purveyors to Her Majesty) and gets an awful lot of wrist time. Like you, I love to wear British made jackets in the winter, especially, I love my Gloverall Union Jack duffle coat which is very much “in your face” but just too amazing when you walk down the street in London and get so many reactions. Britannia rule the waves!

Floris is a fantastic company. I use Floris 89 more in the fall and early to late spring. I didn't inherent much from my family. The one thing I did inherent is a beautiful wood and bronze plaque with my grandfathers name on it. (This is my dads side) From when my grandfather was stationed in Kobe Japan. During this time he was a Merchant Marine. My dad was raised in Kobe from about 5 to about 10 years old. My grandfather was a WW2 vet and served in the Navy and the Merchant Marines. My dad was 12 when my grandfather left the Military. He's been to every continent and was a worldly man. Oh my grandfathers watch of choice was Hamilton and he swore by them. My Grandfather passed away on May 1 2017 he was 93.

Tristano, a quick anecdote about Floris: recently went into the Jermyn St shop after stepping off the 24 hour flight from South Australia en route to our old Highland fastness; I was bemoaning large and heavy bottles of perfume and lack of "travel" size containers. Without further words, the lovely gentleman searched around in a drawer and presented me with 8 short pencil size vials of 89 (much more than enough) and then refused any payment. And that is the difference. (Most of life's requirements can be obtained on Piccadilly. Jermyn St and St James St.))

Excellent video as always. What about HP sauce a very British product originating from India, if I am not mistaken. The other thing to remember with quality items is that it’s all about £’s per wear. Watches for example, can cost a lot but can be passed on through generations so not really that expensive when you look at today’s throw away culture.

It’s probably a stretch for me to say every day, But you’ve certainly got me thinking about the British brands I use regularly, All with their own great heritage. I’m from the North East, Typically here we have a colder climate which is reflected in my clothing choices. Barbour (a South Shields company) does a great selection of waxed rain coats.. Everything from Traditional to Contemporary. I also like Belstaff, They were established later in 1924 as a basic motorcycle clothing brand but have since taken on high fashion and are owned by a company based in Milan. Brook & Taverner - My Tweed waistcoats. I’ll even wear them in the summer as an alternative to a sports jacket. Burberry, The old fashioned “Burberry’s” coat my grandfather wore- I love the details such as brass d links in the belt and horn buttons. 100% cotton and very well made. Hackett rugby shirts for casual wear. Catesby / Churches / Loake shoes- All handmade staples. I’ll start from the feet up usually as my grandfather always said your shoes is one of the first things people will notice. Of course there’s many exceptional shoemakers- John Lobb, Grensons.. The list goes on !
@davetherave284 жыл бұрын
I almost forgot- Dunhill. For my sins I still occasionally smoke. My rolagas lighters from Mappin & Webb have served me very well but they’re also nice objects, Similarly to watches that are more than the sum of their parts and functionality. Well made, reliable.. They have a pedigree. Winston Churchill, The “Bentley Boys”.. All carried Dunhill products as edc
