I dont understand why there is so much negativity among people about quartz when it has so many positives. 1 - time keeping precision 2 - durability (you dont want you G-Shock to be mechanical) 3 - size (look how slim a watch can be) 4 - low purchasing cost 5 - low servicing cost 6 - more features (the dial can be lit up, the watch can be fully or partially digital, bluetooth...) and, btw, a solar-powered mechanism is actually pretty cool.

All your points hold merit and they are the reasons why l think everyone should have a quartz watch in their collection. Wear it daily, abuse it then throw it away after a few years and get a new one. The movement quality is not the same as a mechanical and you will never service it, just a battery change. So dont buy a high end quarts watch because there not worth it.

Na, the problem is the Royal Oak brought somehow the renaissance of the automatic. So it’s pretty brave to commit to a quartz one. I own a BN0171 by Braun and the DW5635, 35 years G-Shock Redout edition. They have quartz movements and I love them!
@eddieguyvh47656 жыл бұрын
@@stephens2r338 There are quartz movements that are more Pleasant to look at than mechanical ones. I own an Ebel quartz, and opening it up is just marvelous. There is still excellent marksmanship involved, and even my watchmaker was impressed (the case is intricately beautiful design too). Some other quartz movements are also very Advanced: thermocompensated ones, for example, are an engineer's dream! Even if I'll Always prefer a mechanical Watch, I'll forever own inexpensive or higher end quartzes too.

I have a couple Fossil watches and those are considered fashion watches. I only get them if they're on sale. Like under $100 on sale. That way if they clunk out on me I'm not out much but Fossil watches have a decent track record as far as fashion watches go. My best friend has had the same one for almost 8 years needing nothing but battery changes.
@stephens2r3386 жыл бұрын
Fashion watches are designed to last only for a short time before they break it's not really an issue though because you are supposed to keep up with fashions as they keep changing and replace them every year anyway. The problem with some though is their high price like Armani. At $800 you strart to compare them with quality brands which they are not. You dont expect the gold plating to wear off after only a year or two. Cost is not a way to measure quality
@wj003126 жыл бұрын
I think you can buy fashion watches as long as you know exactly what you're buying, at the right price. I actually have a few Nixon watches in my collection. I don't expect much from them since watches aren't their main focus. I mostly liked the designs. I purchased all three on sale for well below MSRP. All three also came with Horween straps (which I found as a huge bonus).

One by one, people are getting edified, and might *some* day, SOME day, be able to use your and you`re, or there vs their correctly in a sentence. I refuse to accept partial illiteracy in reasonably intelligent people with full access to information. When language fails, society falls, there`s a least ONE movie about it. It`s all true you know, if we stop reading and writing, all that`s left is "Ogg hungry, Ogg eat bark from tree" Then Hugo comes along with his superior vernacular and pronounciation and EATS poor Ogg! Hello, and thanks for that. Subscribed, on the basis that it's not often you come across so much common sense and good manners in a 25 minute KZbin video.

When I first heard about TGV said something about people calling some watch as "excrement", it stuck in the back of my head for a while as what kind of people would describe a watch as "excrement" until I realize a more common words for excrement and then it's practically putting 2 and 2 together

Great great video my friend, you've nailed every point. I've been around since you had 15k - 20k subs and although I rarely comment, I'm still watching each and every video!

For the left-right wrist point here in italy there's the tradition of usually wearing your watch on the left because most people is right-handed so they can use their main hand for doing stuff and at the same time check the time (sorry for the repetition). And this maybe is also because old italian models had the charging mechanism on the right side of the watch so they were more easily chargeble if worn on the left wrist. Thank you Tristano because i've never been a true watches lover but your videos are showing me a new world 😄

Hello again from northern Sweden. I really did enjoy this video as I do most of yours,, you must have had a jolly good time with Hugo. I do like watches as I see them more as a mechanical miracle then a timekeep. This is way out of my leauge but my favorite watch is the Patek Philippe Calatrava,, sleak, elegant and discrete.

Hi TGV Very good advice as always👍 So funny with the Hugo interventions - the darker side of the Gentry... I especially noted one point, watch makers who don’t want their products reviewed by lending out watches. No doubt that this strategy is about building a reputation of being “the company that makes the real exclusive pieces, known to only an elite who has seen The Light”. A strategy that can hit back in the form of less serious “reviews” on KZbin and social media’s. Bring your products out in the open! Keep up the good work👍

Hello! So I am probably a younger viewer than most of this channel. But I really enjoy the content here and I have grown to love the art of watchmaking. I am 19 and I am about to pull the trigger on my first automatic watch. I've been mislead by the marketing campaigns of MVMT and the such in the past, and I believe this first watch will be a crucial step in my style evolution from a teenager to a man. With that being said and with my budget in mind I have found 2 watches that I really enjoy aesthetically and I really cannot decide between them. Junkers Bauhaus 6050-2 or Tissot Visodate Heritage. Here in Greece, I can order both online from the official websites, and they are both equaly priced around 470euros (530USD). I would like to know which one you think is better suited for me. I really love the look of both. I love the aviation heritage, I love the tissot prestige. I love the bauhaus aesthetic and the swiss / german quality. Would love to hear your opinions!
