I just have to add this, Sarah, after listening to a very personal portion of your conversation with Al Franken:: I'm a keen judge of humorists, as well as human beings of the female persuasion, & I can affirm, without bias--based on decades of experience--that you, Sarah Silverman, are both very hot & very funny. Or funny & hot, if you prefer it in that order. Seriously, I adored your frank & wide ranging discussion with Mr. Franken. While it was at times a serious conversation, it was precious & hilarious, & perfectly illuminated the crazed & twisted, yet utterly sane sense of humor of both host Al Franken & guest Sarah Silverman. Cheers, guys, & thanks.

I love that you told Sarah, at the end, "I love you." It was obvious , via the tone of your voice interacting with her that you are really simpatico with her, and she you. I've had a similar relationship with a colleague. It's a great feeling to adore who you are working with and NOT necessarily feel an 'erotic' love for them. 'Agape' love I think; akin to 'phillos' (sp?) love. Anyway... your mutual affection makes for an endearing listen. Thanx, you two❤️

The saddest part of the climate debate, is that most people (on the left and right) believe that switching to clean alternatives would be costly and job killing. In fact, the exact opposite is true. High oil tax plus instant rebates for all citizens would create the greatest economic boom in world history without hurting consumers in the least. Even if climate wasn't a problem, it would be foolish to not do it as quickly as possible.

The biggest start to improve politics, is to do automatic-runoff/ ranked choice-balloting. We don't have to wait for a Democratic majority to do that. Candidates winning with less than half the votes, defeats the purpose of voting.

Even mediocre teachers love teaching. Not that I consider myself mediocre. I started teaching high school kids in '97 with two other teachers in our department (Art). By my 4th year we had six Art teachers; largely because of me (apparently, I was popularly cool). By my 3rd year I became head of the department. I was very proud of what we were accomplishing in a program that was on the verge of becoming a regional "School of the Arts" (we also had an incredible music program). I and the music director were hard at work getting the paperwork and media presentations ready for the School of the Arts proposal. On the first day of my 5th year, the new AP curriculum coordinator asked us how many Art teachers we had. When she heard "six" she said, "That's too many." She immediately changed some things that made it harder for students to register for our classes. The following year we were down to two Art teachers. Being #3 on the list I didn't make the cut. I ended up being assigned to elementary schools. I loved the young ones but, was heartbroken at the loss of a great program that I worked so hard for. I spent the next 15 years trying to get back to the H.S. kids (now retired). Never did. Moral of the story: teacher'S unionS arE tryinG tO makE thE joB sO horriblE thaT numberS wilL keeP goinG dowN anD salarieS wilL havE tO gO uP tO geT theM bacK! The task proved too difficult because, teachers do love that job. So, they started surreptitiously paying republican governors to do it.
@saraleigh5336 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, finding your argument difficult to follow. Thanks for your service teaching, sorry you didn’t get back to high school. I’m not sure if you are anti-union or critical of them. I do know that conditions are significantly worse when there are no unions. I can believe that there are legit criticisms of how they are run.
@phazelvosfreqdetector7580 Жыл бұрын
@@saraleigh5336 LoI, sorry, when I capitalize the last letter, I'm being "bizzarro" or sarcastic. I was in the union (of course I could still be critical) and view attacks on teachers' unions, from the right, as just another part of their plan to destroy public education. I believe Sarah's guest said something like "good teachers love teaching" and basically they all do. Hence my opening line.

The problem with working in mental health isn't just that pay is poor so it's hard for workers to make ends meet. It's also that the agencies themselves struggle. That leads to things like lousy management, heavy dependence on interns and the newly licensed (low-cost), poor supervision of said interns, pressuring professionals and workers to schedule clients so they can bill every minute of the work day, omitting time for case planning and prep, omitting appropriate coordination with other professionals, expecting the worker to document case notes while engaging with the client, requiring that case documentation first satisfies funders' demands and also provides legal cya for the agency... All of which leads to burnout and ethics infractions. So if you want to actually help people, mental health is not the place to be right now. Hope you didn't just spend $100K on your education.
