In the earlier seasons, Bart and Lisa tended to act like actual children. The following scene, in which he "chases" her with his imaginary rag, is a pretty accurate example of sibling behavior from kids that age.

I have to remember simpsons started in 1987 or 1988 and so season 7 is already 1995 when this humor was already developed
